Ket - As to who is running the show, I would venture a guess and say Matt and/or Ryan. I'm in Dallas 2.5 hours north of them.
Ohm - Check your email.

"Sport Downhill" on Big View

so instead of having a downhill speed trap, have a "sport downhill", much more spectator friendly. by sport downhill i mean get some hay bales, and instead of cones have like 10 bales on opposite sides of the road where you will be forced to slide around them at around 40-45mph. just don't hit a "cone". :-) you would definetly need bales around the outside of the cone in case anybody slides out. you could consider it sport downhill or Super GS, whatever you want, just bring the slide gloves.
what do you guys think of that?

I think JBH is in charge of setting the course at Big View as well he should. You can get a permit to do anything including a skateboard race right through the middle of the state capitol. Sounds rad, can't wait, wiggle, wiggle, swish!

I hear the date is set for Feb 29- Mar. 1 Downtown would be awsome for hybrid and tight I think alot of people would like to see that happen
Pete and I were skating Big View Drive on suday and the bottom end of the road is really torn up from cunstruction/tractors etc. lots of potholes/ gouges. Most of the damage is on the run out section near the bottom of the slalom course, it would defently not be good for a speed trap. But it is four months away, so we shall see. Hopefully some of the Outlaws will chime in with some more info and ideas.
Here is some footage of Me and Pete skating the mid section of Big View, Sunday mornings in Austin are always good times

Any news on the Sizzler in 2008?
Will you be able to get a main drag in downtown Austin for Tight & Hybrid?? How about Big View for GS again?
And the courses..... any thought about who will be setting them??
I think those issues will have a lot to do with who attends the Sizzler next year. (only 4 months away if the date is the close to the last one)
Just curious..... trying to plan for 2008.

Got to go with Marcos on this one. I have never ridden sidewinder trucks either. David Price from TSR gave me some good advice for the wobs " RELAX, if you stiffen up, your ankles get tight and that transcends to the board, also lean forward. That helps also. I have learned to enjoy speed more than ever this year, it takes time to get use to it. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws/Pavel Flow

are sidewinders good for bombing hills On 9/28/2007 chuck d wrote in from United States (70.249.nnn.nnn) Im new at longboarding. I bought this 200$ dollar sector 9 sidewinder.. When im going downhill or at my work's parking garage.. well the trucks are sidewinder ..so the board just doesn't like to go straight fast , it starts going out of control when i reach 20mphs and i freak out..i def.. need more pratice but im thinking this boards better for just cruising and street carving .. i need to buy a helmet also before i die..
Hey Chuck what do you mean when you say the board goes out of control? If it starts to wobble (small uncontrollable turns) it is because of two things 1st and most likely is that you are tense when your riding. When I was new to slalom and downhill I would get wobbs too. Just relax as much as you can on the board and make sure that your weight is evenly distributed on you legs. The 2nd cause of wobbles is trucks that are too loose. You have side winder trucks I have never used those and with the two kingpins they are a little more to adjust, but don't go to tight in fact I would recommend that you try the 1st solution 1st that is the most likely to work. Also depending on where you live I'm sure there are some other Texas Boys that can help you out.

November 10, 11 Austin / San Antonio, Texas. Ditch race @ The I-10 ditch in S.A. For the 2nd race be prepared for ANY of the following, including but not limited to in any order and any combonation a parking garage, another ditch, downhill, longest grind, highest air, a kickflip (yea thats right a f#@!ing kickflip!!) cheating, a football (why not?) drinking, ollieing up curbs at speed, acid drops, jump ramps, railslides, slappy grinds, bums, cops, giant slalom, a 3rd, 4th, 5th.....event. Whatever I/we can come up with. The main goal is to send everyone home exhausted from too much skateboarding! Trophy's for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and DFL? (Kevin were you already making one/ all of em? did I dream that?) Maybe a bookie for side bets? Everyone throw in 5 bucks winner take all? Alcohol for prizes? All of the above? Come on out!

The Red Bull Flutog was last weekend here in Austin. My buddies over at the Skatepark of Austin built a flying skateboard and won the thing! This is a picture of Jeff Little doing the 30' acid drop into the lake! He "flew" for 20' and floated for another 20'. He also broke his leg doing it but....what a killer pic huh?
What it we built a HUGE roll in for Big View this year.......Hmmmmmm?
