Hey everybody, if anybody has a pair of Seismic 110mm (hanger width not including axles) trucks or knows where to get a pair, please get ahold of me and let me know who, where, and how to get ahold of them. I am very serious about getting a pair of these and have even wrote Daniel Gesmer, the guy that owns Seismic and he's not sure where to get a pair either. The only way he'll make them again is if he gets an order for 50 or more so if anyone else out there would like to ride the world's best trucks, contact Dan at SeismicSK8@aol.com and tell him that James Allen Davis referred you. Seismics come in 3 widths, currently 135, 145, and 157mm. To see what they look like, please look under the trucks department of this website and go down to 8-16-97 to see a nice full-color picture of them. You all know that you're curious how they'd feel under your feet and there's only one way to find out, riding them. Also, they come with four different spring tensions to match the style of riding you might want to use them for, silver being the softest for extremely springy, slalom, surfy type applications, red being the next stiffer for more practical everyday street riding applications, and then two more (not sure of colors right now, ask Dan), each one getting stiffer designed for more stability and for downright hill bombing, speed-induced, adrenaline junkies like a lot of you out there know you are. In other words, Dan has made a truck that will work for everyone from the old geezer just cruising to the store to get something, to some of you speed freaks out there that just can't get enough downhill under your belts. If you'd like to find out more about Seismic trucks, contact Daniel Gesmer either by e-mail, SeismicSK8@aol.com, by phone (303)440-9449, fax. (303)440-7107, or the good old-fashioned postal service: Seismic Skate Systems Inc., 1630 30th St. #257, Boulder, CO, 80301, USA. Once again, if anybody could please help me get a pair of Seismic 110s, it would be sincerely appreciated and I'd be extremely stoked. E-mail me at mcequalibrium@hotmail.com. Later sk8ers, peace out Audi 5000 Gzus, I'm outta' here. Sincerely, MC Equalibrium (James Allen Davis). P.S., this is not a paid advertisement or in any way connected to Seismic Skate Systems Inc.. I, James Allen Davis, accept all responsibility for said content and am telling you that Seismics rule!

the best carving truck?

Ricky,
I get the most "carving satisfaction" from eXkates (red bushings) or Seismics with red springs. Both offer precise movemets, nice springback to center, and tight turning circles. I'm 200 lbs so adjust your bushing/spring selection accordingly.

Could any one tell me, in their opnion, what is the best carving truck. I have some B-52's on a Powell Long board and maybe I asking to much but they just don't carve like I want them too. Smooth "S" turns is all I want. What do you think?
Thanks, Rick

I own all three of these trucks. I like the Indy's for vert. longboarding.Although their lack of turning ability keeps them on boards between 36" and 40"max.These are kickturning trucks only. Seismics for bank riding, slalom, flatland tricks and anything that requires a truck that actually helps you gyrate. They turn almost as sharp as Randall II's but have a lower center of gravity, a snap back to center, and turn tight without having to add risers. Randall II for banks, carving streets and general crusing, and skateparks that are built big enough for carving. These need some riser (on an already tall truck) to keep your wheels from rubbing, and they are best suited for 9 3/4"+ wide boards. These are probably the best carving trucks around. don't have any of the torsions and probably won't, I tried them once and found them to be a bit wangley. tight turning but without the control of Randalls.

What is with you guys and indys? They have to be the worst truck you could put on a longboard. You need about 3 highway lanes to carve with. They might grind awesome but they suck for everything else.

Indy 215s are one of the worst turning trucks I've ever ridden. About the only thing they have going for them is strength, and that's more important for street and ramp boards. Do yourself a favor and pass on that "deal". I'd recommend eXkate with red bushings, or if you're on a budget, try the Randal II or, for even less dough, a Tracker B-2. Beware of high-speed wobbles on the B-2, though.

Are Indy 215's better for cruising/carving or for going down hill? I just wanted to know before I buy a pair.

Want to try something fun? Take off your back truck, spin it 180 degrees so it's facing the same direction as your front truck, and put it back on. Now go ride down a gentle slope and try to turn. It's crazy! I've tried this with my Indies, but I can only imagine what it would be like with eXkates. Have fun! steve

A lighter and dampened Exkate!! Prayers have been answered. My old Exkates are already on the market. I think they'll make great ship anchors. As for the new lighter Ex's I'll be the first in line.

Man this is really interesting. I think that with the explosive growth of Exkates Jason is doing his best. I ordered trucks in Oct. 98 and got them in a couple of weeks all the way to the Mid-West. They rattled real bad and I called and talked to him (I'm sure if your car didn't work you couldn't talk to the ceo of GM)and he mailed out a fix. I know there is problems from what I've read but in this day and age and my personal experience everybody screws up. I just hope that you get a chance to own a pair of torsion truck because they ARE worth the wait. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.JC

Angles

SANDY ... Angled risers can be put both ways and do different jobs. Effectively it changes the angle of the kingpin and as a result the turning angle of the truck. Mounted fat side out (as the were made for in the 70's) it decreases the angle and makes the trucks have a bigger turning circle but makes them more stable. Nowadays we tend to use them fat side IN so that it makes the turning circle tighter, but this does make the truck slightly less stable at speed. DEM ... just two things about angled risers and exkates 1. Why the hell would anyone want a tighter turning radius than light bushing exkates !! :-) 2.I suspect that it would mean the tuck angle would go past the safe 45 degree angle and thus the trucks wouldn't act as they should ... sort of like a jack knifed semi truck ... the back wouldn't follow the front at the correct radius ....see previous posts for this.

My Black 29 came with angled risers mounted fat side in. This seems right to me. Anyone know the science here??
I was wondering if anyone has tried angled risers with exkates? Hmmm....

Forgive my ignorance, but I am a little confused. I always thought that angled risers should be mounted fat side "out" (ie towards the closest end of the board). However, I was looking at a display of gravity boards in a shop, and they came from the factory with the risers mounted the other way around... Who's wrong in this case and why? I figure that you would want to increase the pivot angle of the trucks, so as to make it closer to the 45 degrees on carving trucks. The way gravity had mounted the risers made the angle steeper... ??
Thanx all

Jason, If you're not going to send me that pair of 201's, then send them to Tyler. At least he's a paying customer and he's a dedicated longboarder with a lot of influence in his area. You don't want him doging you forever.....screw this landsurfing #$%&, I'm ready to get back on the H2O and sail under the Golden Gate once again..... Did you guys know that Fort Point under the Golden Gate bridge, has the biggest and only inland braking wave in the world? Adios my boardhead friends. The land desperado must go. It's been fun.

Wow, this all got crazy! Tyler..thanks for the concern. Settle down man. Things are okay now. I want everyone to know that Jason has indeed taken care of things. He went the extra mile (and expense) to OVERNIGHT me my 201's along with stickers and even a t-shirt. Does this mean I'm on the team Jason? :-) The trucks look really nice. As soon as the three feet of snow outside goes away I'll tell you how these suckers ride. I am once again a happy Exkate customer and all is right with the world. Thanks for putting up with all this. Adam I owe you a beer or something. Jason thanks for fixing things. Now what the hell are we all gonna talk about????????

What do you mean Dem has been taken care of and Jean"the land desperado" has been delt with as well? Sounds to me like you did to them what you did to your reputation. As for the other stuff- I'll believe it when I see it. What ever happened to the 100mm polyurethane wheels?
