Sims, those are 80A. You'll be fine using them up front in most slalom setups, and on all four corners on cruising boards. They are on the skinny side, but do offer good grip-I wouldn't have sent them your way if I didn't think they'd work!I figured they would(if used up front)compliment a pair of Strada 78A/66mm at the rear. That'd give you an alternative to burning up Strada 78A's by putting them on all the way around,or having to buy two sets of Stradas with mixed durometers. Meanwhile, the Kryptos should be fine leading those fat yellow wheels you've got. If you really don't like them, send to Claude!

MK1 and MK2 Kryps have a steel washer on the outside edge of the bearing face, sometimes its covered in a thin layer of wheel compound but a magnet usually tells the story. It may not be on every one but all my Blue,Lime and Red 70mm,s have it. The Bones hardcores are excellent, nice and stiff, more stable at speed also, Thanks Guys

Anyone know the duro on these wheels. Them seem a little on the thin side for slalom, i learned this the hard way. All i know is that they are blue and used to be old quadskate wheels

I'm going with arab on this one. The thing is a nice flat washer. No cup or balls to it. I fitted the bearings in and they seat down fine. Bearing spacers where the right length, if it was something odd in there I guess my spacers would be short.
I got the 7-ply arab. I have been in Chicago all week so I haven't taken it out yet. Today's the day. I see what you mean about it being more rigid.
Thanks guys for your responses!

sounds like some bearings that tricked me on some old wheels i picked up not long ago... if you can see the balls, then they are probably the same. the whole thing pops out as a unit... hr

It may be that you have a loose-ball variant of the wheel, though I'm not aware of any Kryptonics that came that way. Loose ball bearings preceded the 608 style bearings and featured fixed bearing seats in the wheels, a handfull of BBs, and cone-nuts that kept the bearings pressed agains the seats.

Mark Colden,
Go to the "SEARCH" forum here and type TEAMRIDER. You`ll find a guy in England selling them NOS under $100. Shipping takes a while but it`s well worth the wait.
They may not last long so JUMP ON IT!!!!
As for the Bowlrider, step in the back of the line as I`ve been trying to get one for about a year now

I those are old school kyrptos the formula is great for slalom but they need to be at least 65mm to be competitive in my experience. Try em out though. As for the washer. That is a new one on me as well.

I have a set of blue 60MM Kryptonics. They appear to have a steel insert on the outside bearing surface. Is this suppose to be there? If so, it's a new one on me. Maybe a previous owner crammed a washer in there? It sure looks like it's factory, seated perfectly all around. The inside diameter of the washer is the exact size of the bore through the wheel.
I thought I would try these out for slalom.

What's crazy is the classic equipment that is resurfacing after being in storage for years, only to be traded for a street, cruise, or longboard deck of less value.
I was on the phone several weeks back with a fellow who spotted someone w/one of the old Turners in hand. He hollered at the guy to get his attention (excusing himself for a while) and all I could do was witness over the phone as he bartered what could have been $150 retail at most for a relic of my youth of which I could not put a price on.
Last night someone posted on the slalom forum w/questions about a couple Turners she just traded someone for. Though the weather was near perfect for a session, I spent that evening glued to the monitor as I watched the barrage of posts (I could only imagine how many emails she received) donating some tidbits of my own. I'm glad to say that I felt I was of some assistance but mostly I thing that we all felt that we made a connection in the exchange (thanks Adam).
So keep your eyes peeled and your mind open, you just may not know where the next Turners or ICK's, even an Archeryflex or two could make their entry into daylight once more and grace our presence reflected only by a smile on our face.
Always smilin', Alan Sidlo Knucklehead Racing Team (still remembering)

Having moved halfway across the U.S.A. since my last post on this site, to Boulder CO. I am enjoying the prevalence of skateparks, bowls of numerous varieties and lots of killer terrain, hills, banks, etc. and many energetic, skaters old and new school and skateboarding's current wave of popularity and acceptance. I am curious if other skaters in the Colorado area would be willing to participate in a monthly, organized skateboarding/punkrock/surf/alternaculture swap meet of, by and for skaters! United we stand and skate! All input and comments welcome! Please e-mail me @SSIsk8@Yahoo.com

To anyone who knows: I have always wondered, what was the longest length you could get a Fibreflex with a kicktail (Bowlrider, Teamrider, Kicktail models)? I have wanted one of these boards ever since the 1970's, but I've never known what sizes they came in. I know the new boards are 38" and 44", I'm talking about vintage stuff here! Especially the Bowlrider model, that was the one I really wanted bad.

Look at the last scan in the "Scans" forum you'll see the jay Adams Z-flex with grip tape, that's probably your board, Oct. 1977. The trucks would be later, I'm guessing 1979 or 80 for the early plastic bases (the real bad ones that let the pivot stretch and pop out, unexpectedly, not to mention cracks)

Trying to put a date on this deck. Orange Jay Adams Z-Flex with Molded in grip. Grip tape is actually part of the top of the deck. I'm thinking it's a relatively early version perhaps late 77 early 78. Also what year did tracker start putting the plastic baseplates on their mids and fulls.

Mine is definately a Teamrider, right Barleye? GBJ gave the right description. Teamrider - round nose, flat deck with kicktail. Bowlrider - point nose, rockered deck, with kicktail They both were about the same width and stiffness. Mine barely flexes under me and I'm "average sized"

Alright, I've been watching these Teamrider posts for awhile and now I'm wondering, are we talking about the G&S Bowlriders or G&S Teamriders. These are two very different boards. Bowlriders are an older model with a pointy nose, a bit of rocker and a rounded kicktail. The Teamriders are a later model, often ridden in parks and pools (Spring Valley) by Doug Saladino, before the wideboard "pig" revolution. The Teamrider was a bit larger, with a very rounded nose and a square kicktail. Which of these models are you guys, in these recent posts, referring to?
