The photo is labeled Steve Monahan.
Brandon Cruz claims it may actually be him in the ad.

Robinak Skate Packs
On 9/14/2001 GBJ wrote in from (24.38.nnn.nnn)

The ad for Robinak Skate Packs featured Sims skater Steve Monahan, who is presumably living somewhere in the central coast area of California and did race in the Slalom World Championships at Morro Bay. Steve was a recognizable longboard user/supporter during the 70s and was also occasionally seen pulling acid-drops off the top of Tom Sims' blue van, once as a Skate Extra feature in the back of Skateboarder Magazine.

Anybody got that ad for skatepacks from 77 or so? It had a kid riding a 44" sims longboard (was it Pineapple Saladino?) - this was one of the things that got me into making my own 44" decks in 77. If you have it you SKATEBOARDER collectors - please scan and sendd me a jpeg.

ACS 651 on a Slalom board
On 9/8/2001 Pre-School Rider wrote in from (209.198.nnn.nnn)

Dom,the ACS 651 is a low riding truck,so a riser was fairly common to alleviate dreaded wheel-bite in deep turns. How much riser is up to you,but I'd guess somewhere between 3/8" and 9/16" for most 62mm to 70mm wheels, wedges being an option, too. You'll just have to tinker with it to dial it in for your tastes.

Indy susp.
On 9/7/2001 herbn wrote in from (216.107.nnn.nnn)

The gold parts are brass or bronze(oilites) a pourous material, they come soaked wih oil, boiled in, a little grease and they spin smooth.the spring steel hex stock(look carefully, the parrt in the truck is six sided)turns the outer bushing(oillite)in the hanger the inner bushing is pinned stationary in the hanger, travel is the twisting of the hex stock, when they wear out they snap, if they're used alot chances are one side will wear/stretch more than the other,no obvious way to adjust them to compensate, then again i don't think they moved all that much, they do line up the axle close to the pivoting axis,0 rake kind of like,,,,Randals,Gullwings,HPG ones had a lot of offset,i think indy susp beat gulls alot with equal or close to equal riders. All of these are the real reasons they were never offered to the public

Indy Suspensions
On 9/7/2001 Mad Rat wrote in from (213.123.nnn.nnn)

Don,

I'm trying to figure out how the 'suspension' part works here then. Using the pictures on Henry Hesters site as a guide, do the wheels fit on the part with the Gold sleeves, or on the other side? I figure it must be the other side?

How does it attach to the truck hanger? I'm guessing the Gold sleeves are inside the hanger ?

Is there actually any 'suspension' mechanism? as I cant see any spring or anything here to achieve this.

What advantage is this mechanism supposed to give? I saw on the Turner for sale on Ebay recently that the wheels are then set back in line with the truck kingpin, they are in effect 'trailing' behind the hanger.

Peter

Let's see if I can get the HTML right here, and place the picture from Henry's site ....

The Indy Suspension trucks were never for sale and were hand made. There were probably about 10 sets made, give or take and even on the Santa Cruz Team only a few guys got them. I know, I tried like hell but never laid my hands on a set of my own.

PRIMO DEANO WHEELS
On 9/5/2001 Dano wrote in from (65.4.nnn.nnn)

I've got some pairs of old (never used) Primo Deano wheels.
Yellow. These were a limited run by Powell back in the day.
You could remove the outer wheel off of the hub and install
a different duro wheel. I don't know about actually using them, but quite a collectors item.

Email if you need more info!

Santa Cruz -1975 Fiberglass Deck

Original '75 Santa Cruz deck, original grip, trucks & wheels. You can tell it was an early model, the logo looks different from the current angled SC logo. I still skate and bust it out on the rare occasion. Skating it on vert is a challenge.

On 8/31/2001 Herbn wrote in from (216.107.nnn.nnn)

He he 109 is the width,i think the price quoted was from a the steve evans, curt kimble interview(i just remembered that)they were talking about how those trucks were an unfair advantage, and how the indy guys were saying they'd cost (whatever) to make, Kimble said "we'd buy'm for that, but they ain't selling ,"team only", or somthing to that effect:)You've never heard the expression ,"but that was 1969(or what ever year) dollars"indicating that money was worth something back then, and the numbers would be much higher today beacause prices are just numbers these days.

Indy $$$$ Truck
On 8/30/2001 ED Economy wrote in from (4.41.nnn.nnn)

From what Henry said there were very few made. They would share them untill everybody on the Team had a pair. Most of the guy's only ran them on the back. As Luck would have I got Henry's original Santa Cruz (killer) Team board with the Indy Sus truck sticker on the board. Gary Cross sold me one of his secret proto type truck's he is now making and running. When Bob Skolberg Showed up at the Ham Slam and he showed his board with an Original Indy Sus Truck (I knew it was mine) He had one that was his and a 2nd that was Henry's, not for sale for any price!!! After a few beers and a talk with his wife it was mine with the board he won world title's on. When I open my full race museum for all to see, Bob and Henry's boards will be side by side just like the old days !! If I knew how to post pictures on this site I would to show you all but I am sorta on Adams Shit list for sending him a nasty Virus @#%$##$% Take care ED (Henry do you want to add to this)

Made in 1978 and 1979

109 trucks made for team members only

Rumors said they fetched $250 - $500 per pair

(now for the tricky part)

And that was in 1978 dollars! Imagine what they would go for now!!
