Considering the latest news on Bombardier-built trains, the bet may be whether you CAN get to Conn.! BTW,I had my heart set on the devasting combo's of blue/pink c-62's on my Hobie, and the 'pocket-rocket' Bahne. Now it's Green c-65's with Pacers or Red c-70's.Vintage Bearings! That'll even the playground!

I'm busting out an incredibly rare Benji Boards sablosky (sp?) cut-away for a deck, fulls, and some sort of kryptonics / sims compII / pacers combination. Vintage bolts and bearings, all the way baby. Combined with my woeful lack of skills and essentially no practice, I will attempt to reproduce my last ride of the 70's: a complete and thorough shattering of my collar bone at Crofton skatepark, summer '79, thus ruining a promising career in pinball. Wow, the memories !

Ok "I smell some side bets". Also you may consider taking Amtrack as it stops in Stamford, Ct where you can pick up a local train to New Canaan, Ct which is 6 miles from the farm.

GBJ: The vintage race is going to be very interesting in that we are going to run the event on the same hill as the tech. GS. We will then compare times from modern set-ups vs old school. We will record peoples set-ups next to their times. I am going to do one timed run on my Hester/Bennetts/RR2's and another on my kids Banzai w/ ACS 430 and tiny loose ball Powerpaws. A smell some side bets.

Loose-bearing Roller Sport Wheels

Another tempting solution to my wheel dilemma would be to run the loose-bearing Roller Sport quad wheels that were so generously gifted to me this year by Geezer X. I'll admit that I'm still possessed of the antique notion that when absolutely fresh, carefully mounted and properly lubricated, loose-bearing wheels can be (temporarily) devastatingly fast.

Guillermo, I have no specific travel plans as of yet. Having just recently blown a head gasket in the GBJ-mobile and currently using a borrowed "piece o' junk" to get around, I probably won't be able to decide how and when I'm arriving until shortly before the trip.

GBJ: Due to the fact that both blues and pinks could be purchased NOS at cost (oldschoolskate) this year that there will be a temporary ban. You are correct, it will defiantly make things a bit more interesting. Look forward to seeing you soon. Will you be coming late Friday?

C-62s

Well, Paul, if they actually are CS-62s, they don't say it. My pinks and blues, as well as a long-since stolen set of yellows all said "C-62" on the wheel. I think it's unfortunate that the pink and/or blue C-62s will not be permitted at Da Farm, but can definitely see that it'll make things more interesting. I'm going to have to start pulling vintage (non-slalom) wheels off of old "wallhangers" and see what'll run the best. Don't be surprised to see me show up on either white YoYos or a set of the old, hard, Belair Wings. Neither of them really have a lip that's favorable for slalom, but the YoYos might be worn enough to have created something of a flex-lip. My guess is that the Wings might be exceptional on a fast GS course, while the worn YoYos might work for tighter stuff.

surely the wheels in pink & blue are actually CS-62, not c-62, similar in shape to cambria's. i always thought the c-62 had a radius edge like the series 2 krypto's not a flexible lip suitable for slalom

Does anyone here know when the pink and blue versions of Kryptonic C-62s were produced? It has suddenly occurred to me that my Ick, with the Rad Pad in froont, a Tracker Riser 1/2" riser in back and my Midtracks (in other words, my normal racing set-up) qualifies for the vintage race at Da Farm. I just need to set my ABEC11s aside.

If I remember correctly, the Cruz Missile was somewhere between 29" and 30-1/2". There were other distinctions also that I can't remember exactly. (Wider? Deeper cutaway?)
The H-Bomb is 28" and a much more common model. As a matter of fact, I believe the Cruz Missile was only in production for a couple of months whereas the H-Bomb was around for a couple of years (along with the Hut Cut Back.)
From the looks of the Roe website, I would guess the the "Henry Hester Model" Roe has a plan similar to a Cruz Missile and the "Nina" is close to the H-Bomb.

Calypso vs. SC Graphite

Wes,yup. I had an SC Graphite or two. The older one, kinda off green in color and with more camber was pretty nice, but later one(JG said it was a factory re-paint,not re-issue)was white with stripes and flatter.Neither one had the snap nor torsional stiffness of the Calypso. This board is what my Hobie wishes it could be.I haven't rode it very much(heck,I don't think it has been ridden much),like twice, thrice? But it impressed me;excellently setup, nimble, flowing.Really good for tight stuff.

Eric, are you suggesting the Calypso was/is superior to what Santa Cruz produced? The graphite loaded Hester/Hutson models were hard to bead (especially with Hut on one!)

Actually,Duane, that board is made better than a Fiberflex.Possibly(other than Icks/Turners)one of the nicest decks for slalom for it's time.Rides really sweet!

The board is Shaggy's. Its as nice as he says, I rode it at Ball Dam last month. It would be a good tight slalom board for someone who can deal with smaller boards, the rear is really narrow. Contruction is pure Fibreflex. Shaggy is a perfectionist for his set-ups so the buyer can be assured that it will be ready to ride.

Turner full nose on eBay

Oh, and someone in Bostons is selling a Bobby Turner-autographed full nose. The trouble is he hasn't posted any pics of it "face up." From the photos it's hard to tell if its vintage or a new Turner with old stickers on it. The set up is ragged out, but the board looks decent. Couldn't see any apparent dings or stress marks.
P.S. They are not my board and I'm not bidding, so I guess there's no conflict of interest mentioning it here, is there?

There is a German-made "Calypso" slalom board on sale at eBay. Not a bad looking board. Not only had I never seen one before, I had never heard of it.
Anyone know anything about it? Or is the seller on this Forum and wish to give up some info?

Tk wins the prize. yes the Ransome Evans Kimble trio is correct. Now TK check out the quiver attatchment I just e-mailed You and Behold sons of Ick stix manufactured by me in 1979 and 80. The models were Keith Hollien-Mark McCree- and Don Bostick. They were made of an imported (europe) 8 ply 1/4" thick (yes 8 ply 1/4")deck with a tapered Ash rib down the middle on the bottom. super light and "0" flex for Floating around cones. (Icks had "0" flex).
