Hey Chris,
Lived walking distance from the Crofton Skate Park. I had many sets of the Bolts and loved them.
I also had alot of Airflow equipment. Wide decks, eight wheeler, etc.... I would of thought I had tons of that stuff in my mom's basement.
Made a trip to her house a few weeks ago and turned up little more than a crapload of ACS500 trucks.
I'll keep looking. Should of seen my mom's confused face when her 35 year old son came up from the basement and ask "where's all of my old skateboard stuff Mom?"

I had both Lip Bombs and Bolts, but I forgot what happened to the Lip Bombs. I didn't ride the Bolts until the late 80's (NOS) and at that time they were considered kind of wide so I cut them down width-wise. They were the best wheels I ever had, and made a great howl when pitched sideways. That board was stolen, damnit.

Hey Chris. I had a set of the Lip Bombs. They were hella fast, some of he cooled ramp wheels I ever rode next to sims snake conicals and Gyros. The Belair Lip Bombs were way ahead of their time. I was the only person I knew with them and I foolishly sold them in Brazil. They made a crazy sound accellerating on wood parks.

If you ever run across a Chapstik skateboard or Lip Bomb wheels, let me know. You may think that I have several mint condition boards and sets of wheels from the good old days, but I have exactly ONE deck, and ZERO wheels. I managed to lose many treasured skateboard pieces along the way, and would greatly appreciate it if anyone could find a source for me. I'm willing to buy or trade for new handmade products. Belair Boards in Bowie MD made most of these in the late seventies. Thanks!

1. the closing of every good 70's skatepark.
2. getting excited and driving 45 mins to the new city skatepark, only to find out it is nothing but 2'-3'tight trash with loose boards flying all over the place..
3. lawyers and government people who write anti-skateboarding laws.
4. not having enough time to skate more.

Wheels so small that they looked like two bearings with a piece of scotch tape around them. (38mm and even smaller).
Paying lots of money for ABEC 11 (stupid!), while not using spacers (stupid).

G&S double conical Yo Yo's
the wheels and trucks were a no brainer for me - i've skated indy's ever since (bennetts to lazers to indys) and the yo yos were rock hard for the time (95a???)
the toft snubnose was a bridge deck from oldschool wide (dt wes humpston) to new school wide - a sims mike folmer (go east coast!) fe (fiberglass epoxy) spoon nose......either of those decks could have qualified as "dream sk8"
golden years......hmmm.....don't think i've entered the "golden years" yet (heh heh)
low point - seeing my first halfpipe (built in the woods out of "midnight lumber") trashed by some hooligans

What I actually had:
Powell Ray Bones (not the snub nose)
Tracker Fulls with Copers
Yellow Bones wheels (the first non-white Bones).
Before that, since Chris C. was my hero, I always wanted a Chapstick, with some trackers and Lip Bombs.
Golden Years: They're all golden, as long as I'm skating.
Low Point: When people stopped using (or even knowing how to use) spacers. Signal of the slow death of skaters who knew how to set up a proper board.
Next Lowest Point: the day the term "extreme sports" came into use.
Third lowest point: the first time I heard a kid riding down the street on a set of 101a 50mm wheels. Ughh.

Favorite board that I owned back in the day:
that foam core Kryptonics thing,
w/ ExTracks & Yo Yo's.
Board I wished I had owned:
Sims 40" Taperkick, Split-Axle Gullwings & Red Kryptonics.
For me the Golden Years are now, simply because when I compare the boards from way back to the the Pintails of today, todays Pintails are just so much prettier. I would take my G&S Blacktip over any board I used to own.
The low point would be from the day the 1st symetrical double kicktail went into mass production to the day Sector 9 said "hey, lets make longboards". Thank you guys!!!

Board. Sims original solid wood kicktail, I think it was ash in 44" or 48". (I don't remember if they made a 48" model or not. If so, that's the first choice.) Prefer this to the Taperkick, because I remember Ed Economy say that they didn't break as easy as the Taperkick.
Trucks. Bennett Pro Ad-Tracs (I think that's what they were called).
Wheels. Kryptonic Original Green 70 mms.
Finally, a vintage skid plate to keep the tail pristine and shockers (those 1/4" rubber shock/riser pads).
Otherwise, I'd say a Turner Summer Ski, but I figure that in the next couple of years, either Turner's going to start producing again, or somebody's going to beat him to it and start making something just as good (okay close to as good).
Golden years, about 1975-1980; then again, 1997 to present.
Low point, I don't want to say, because even if I'd lost interest and strayed, there were still people out there rippin it.
Low point in technology. Come on, guys. Two words, steel wheels. That and those trucks on the early Roller Derby's and such, that weren't even based on decent roller skate trucks, but on the cheap sheet metal ones from the skates you strapped on your shoes.

Board : Schmitt stix "Yard stick" (the yellow one) with indy 169 and SC speed wheels (66 mm)
Board again : Lib tech 44" longboard with tracker B2 and Gravity 64 mm Comp
Board again : Hot Road 46 with carbon , Randall R2 trucks and 76 mm red Kryptos (My next board)
Best years : 1975 - till the end of times (for skateboarding)
Low time : the disapearance of skateboarding in france in 78-79 (went to norway 1 year where skateboarding was banned full-on in the whole country !!!!! ..... no import .... no riding (got my board confiscated then and got it back when I left the country))
By the way gunnar when was skateboarding allowed again in this country ????

By the way,that was not a commercial endorsement,my trucks are not even close to being for sale,even the most mass produced versions,at over 90% of my quality standards would probabely cost 300 dollars a truck,just by totalling up the number of parts.That was just name dropping.

Hey! i've mentioned that board before,that's gotta be on of my lost pages,my Skateboarders,some of them were given to me later on, other collections,people clearing out their closets,though most were duplicates of magazines i already had ,my own are not only missing covers but several layers in.I think thats an upgraded downhill Stroker probabely aircraft links,like my current remakes,by the way;i just zipped back from Action Sports in A.C. Dave Hatton (one of the sector nine guys in big stik)was slalom pumping around on the Stroker board and generally loving the turning action "ultimate carving trucks" at low to midspeed. Hey, the old mag thing,i've seen the covers on some web sights,wouldn't it be cool if ALL the pages could be seen(pay per download?) as well,what would that take?

yeah, keeping on GBJ's idea i would have to say the golden years for me have been the last 4. I found loongboars, i embraced them and now im expanding as quick as i can.. In fact i just purchased my first pair of Fultracks and i cant wait im gonna put em on a home made slalom board and skate until the sun goes down, mabey longer! I already own my dream board by owning a Turner Summer Ski, with either original Gullwing split-axles or first-generation Tracker Fulltracks and Kryptonic C-62s. However, forgetting the whole slalom thing and staying true to the point.

There was also a board in a Turner ad... Tommy Ryan, standing in the starting-gate of some downhill type race. He's wearing black and red leathers, and is on some kind of over-sized, shiny, black, cambered Turner downhill deck, with a Stroker for a front truck and some big, tall, downhill wheels. I'd like to just SEE that board, in person!
