getting a bit frustrated with the lack of organised events here in Oz, I realise that various groups are trying to get thing's up and running but are running into brick walls when it comes to council approval and other matters relating to an organized event.back in my early days in skating (mid eighties)there was little in the way of facilities for skaters so we were skating car parks, malls hills, peoples driveways, main roads , drains and ditches, anything that could be ridden -we were menacing little brats causeing damage to property putting boards through shop windows damaging vehciles, injuring people and ourselves none of it intentional just a result of us having fun but it did'nt go down well-soon there were NO SKATEBOARDING signs up everywhere and we were shunned, it did'nt stop us though and I guess all the little groups of fellas like us caused enough mayhem, damage and did enough pettitioning that the councils soon realised that they needed to provide facilities for us to use to keep the public safe while sunday shopping so they stared building us parks now the little fellas have the kinda skate parks we could only dream of and it is a well catered for sport. I understand that there are people out there who are trying to build gravity sports in australia in a legal, council approved , don't want to give it a bad name kinda way and having just approached my local council on the procedure of running an event I realise that just asking and following propper procedure is'nt gonna get us far, so I suggest we get in peoples faces lets start cutting cars off, bombing city sreets in leathers and helmets in broad daylight maybe cause just enough s#@! for the general public to start complaining once we start becomming a menace again maybe the councils will realise that that we ain't gonna just dissapear and they will have to provide for us because they sure as hell ain't gonna stop us, so get in contact, lets get some of these small pockets of downhillers luge or skate together lets get some OUTLAW racing going on, I'm talking city streets and main roads where we'll be in the way not out bush where its quiet, there are fellas I know who outlaw street race cars and bikes and if we were to play like they do we'd have alrady received 100 times more publicity than we've got at this stage. asking nice may be the propper way but getting out there and causing a fuss will get the wheels turning quicker and the powers that be won't be able to keep saying NO. lets race.

I'll definitely be heading out to Perth at some point and will let you know when it happens. It'd be cool to get a little slalom scene going here! peace out.

Hi Haggy, yeah I remember you from Crystal Palace - you beat me in the H2H race, I think ! How you doing? Are you in Sydney permanently or just for work etc. ? I hope to be in Perth by December, so if you get out that way we'll have to hook up. Later.

Hi Texx, i sent you an email. Just incase it doesnt reach you, Yes, plenty of hills, I know quite a few locally, i havent even attempted half of them because my brother isnt keen anymore and ive went down these hills on my motor bike and er they would be scary on a longboard :), smooth roads to. The Police, well i've only been told to get off the road once and that was in the back country streets and they are very far and few inbetween (real rare at the moment to see police) (HOPE YOUR NOT READING THIS COPPERS)

Seems to be worthwhile to take my longboard with to NZ, so i while try to fit the board into my 20k of allowed luggage. What kind of wheels do use in NZ ? Roads have pretty rough pavement, if my recall is right.
