Happy New Year !!!

Happy New year everyone !!! This one has got to be better than last. I just passed the 7 month mark of the busted heel and its getting better. I ice everyday still for around 3 hours total. If I didn't it would be so stiff that I couldn't walk normal. But I have been pushing it a lot. Hawaii a lot of walking, and I have been snowboarding 5 times for just an hour at a time. I pay the price, but the doc said it was o.k.
Ethan just learned, or should I said did several 720's at our local hill. I have been shooting video of him jumping and railing. He is pretty sick. If he lived out west where there were better riders he would be totally killing it. He is kind of a superstar at our local hill and does good in the contest.
Geo, killer shot of Skitch and I from Akron. I heard you guys are having a great winter. McKendry you dog, rippin' all the pow pow.
Cabbage, I need to know about your camps. I was thinking Ethan could do some camps at the local parks. I need to know about how much you charge, insurance, etc. Ethan can do it all and it would be a great way to make money for the summer.

Tway'z....The Night Before Christmas (An NCDSA CLASSIC REPOST)

Twas the night before christmas, when all through the Farm Not a Downhillbilly was stirring, not even Marion Karr; The bushings were placed in the Radikals with care, In hopes that BIG DON soon would be there;
The "skaters" were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of Fat Boy danced in their heads; And Kenny in his spandex, and I with my rap, Had enough of this Abec 11 Manufacturer's crap?
When up on the start ramp there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the curb to see what was the matter. Away to the hill I flew like a flash, Tore my achilles tendon and threw up from cheap hash.
The moon on the breast of the New England snow Gave the lustre of mid-day to bald heads below, When, what to my wondering eyes was I facing, But Hackett, oLsOn, and Black Leather Racing,
And a little old rider, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be Jack Smith. More rapid than eagles his courses they set, And he hooted, and hollered, and called them by name;
"Now, Gilmour! now, Tucker! now, Maysey and Joe! On, ICK STICK! on AXE! on, PAVEL and ROE! To the top of the hill! to the top of the road! Now dash away! dash away! dash away gOAd!"
As dry leaves that before the wild Mollica fly, When they meet with an obstacle, criddle to the sky, So up to the hill-top the racers they flew, With the sleigh full of Indys, and G.O.G.'s too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As I drew in my hand, and was turning around, Down the chimney Arab came with a bound.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And replaced all the bushings; then called me a jerk, And laying his finger inside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ere he rode out of sight, "YOUR TRUCKS SUCK!"

Have fun in the sun, you crazy kids.
Kenny, if you need another option for helping some of that soft tissue to heal, see if you can find a doctor who uses the Graston Technique. I see a chiropractor who uses it, and it seems to help a lot.
It's a kind of "soft-tissue mobilization" using a special set of metal instruments. One of the specific benefits mentioned is "resolves effects of post-surgical scarring." If whatever you're doing hasn't helped (enough), maybe it's worth a try.
Can't seem to insert an actual link, but you can learn more at www.grastontechnique.com , including how to find a practitioner near you. Just put in your ZIP code.

No Buckeye??

No Buckeye in 2008?? That's some sad news, but I understand completely. Hopefully there will be another Buckeye in the future. It's such great race for us Midwesterners. I think the Buckeye Open raised the bar for a regional race, great venue, smooth & fast, & just gnarly enough for a B-class rider.
Have fun on vacation with your family and heal up Kenny, thats the most important thing. Say Hi to Seeger!!

Chris,
Looking good up there on the coping !!!!! I would say you have come a long way dude. How's school and life down there.
My year is done. We go to Hawaii tomorrow, chill out and try to forget this year. I am taking the surfboard and Seeger is coming over from Maui with his paddle board. The waves look bad for the Pro and Pipeline, which means it may be much better for us.
I am not throwing the Buckeye this year. I need a break and just want to enjoy summer for the first time since 2005. Plus, Jessie will be living up at the Cabin in Aspen. We want to go to Europe to catch a race and visit some friends that are living in Switzerland. My body feels like its a 100 years old. I need to heal up and get strong so that I can enjoy the next 10 years with Ryder. I feel like he got jipped this year.
Aloha

Rob, that looks pretty hairy out there !!!
We are heading to Mad River Mountain today for some Bunny sloping fun.
Ohm, I had to shine on Mac. He was too serious and made me nervous, which was not helping my recovery. I hated to go and see him, and when I did it was a bummer. That dude needs to lighten up. Its not the fricken Navy. Its a broken foot with lots of tissue that needs to heal. Time will heal my broken foot. Not Mac. Thanks for hooking us up, but we gave each other the creeps.

Put up some posts and photos of CR on my family blog...We were in Nosara, the folks there say to stay away from Tamarando and Jaco...crowded and overbuilt. It's not Hawaii, but waves were double overhead the last two days, plenty big for me.

Its been a while. I thought everyone was sick of hearing about the foot so I laid off the Gong. Today is day 175 since the crash and its getting better. Still hurts like hell, gets really stiff and swells a bunch, but its a lot better than a month ago.
Working like hell to finish out the year and make it to Hawaii December 14th. Seegs, your right, but this year Hawaii will be experience in high style at Turtle bay. I am taking my board and hopefully we can catch a wave or 3.
I am out. Working like a banchi for the fun tickets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

geo, the best surf in the world is in hawaii. Costa rica waves arn't s#@!, crowed and full of beginners and macheesemo's. If you wan't to come to maui, i could show you 100's of breaks, local knoweldge is key. the only downer is the price of flight and lodging. but if you can handle camping, you can have the time of your life. hawaii should be experienced outdoors eating island fruits with sand in your hair and a wicked sunburn. late
