Hey!! I'm 18 today!!!! yey!! so am i officially the youngest poster here or not? :P good to hear that your dad is well NCL, and what's up with the abundance of posts from all? Normally this thread is real quiet lol. I wish i could skate some banks, they just dont do them right in the UK unluckily for me, but at least now i am perfecting some controlled leaning out hand-skimming turns at speed on my bigbug, proper speed controll should come soon i hope. I get really confused with your temperatures (fahrenheit compared to celsius), but here it is 0->8 degrees max now, so... umm... 32(if that s freezing for you) to around 40something. Is there anything i can do to improve the traction of my 83mm 78a (i think) flywheels? they are nice and grippy once warm, but they are hard and slippy when cold, would grooves help do you reckon?
merry christmas all :)

ok,ok, I just want to skate! LOL. The age thing for the female gender is a tough one. I spent half my life going for the "american dream". I hate the american dream. I am now trying to do what I have always wanted to do (within Limits of course) After all, I still have a spouse, and kids. Trying to get the spouse to ride with me. The kid already does. He's the reason I am riding. I am one of those people that when I find something I like, I go for it. Sooo, my next project is a pool board set up. any comments? probably I should visit the pool forum. You guys are great and I am glad I found my stoke! and a cool forum to express my stoke LOL. Ok, the suns out, roads ae dry...........

Ha ha! I'm 42! You're a young chic! So are you saying I look old as dirt? LOL I was a major mtn. bike freak until I spilled hard hucking off of a drop at Fontana and performed a beautiful two feet over the handle bar dismount with a one point landing on my head. Doc said he would quit repairing me and wife said she would leave me if I got back on a mtn bike....so I went back to skating instead!!!!!
Kokopelli on a Mtn Bike...that rocks...maybe with the letters MOAB faint in the background in the shape of mountains....
Sounds like you got the pintail hooked up. That good huh? ......

Rock on dude. Thanks for the thoughts on Dad. Dude, if you need parts for your BMX try www.firstflightbikes.com. It is the shop I used to race mtn. bikes for and the owner Jeff specializes in vintage gear. That shop looks like a museum. Jeff and Wes are both great guys there.
Man, I can just see you skating by the biker bar! That is hilarious. Hope it warms up for you soon. Its cold as a witches' t*t in a steel bra up here!
Have a Very Merry Christmas!

Hey Bro! I have been away from this post for just a week and I was glad to here that your pops is doing better! Your not going to believe this but I've been busy trying to restore my old , (I'm getting scared just posting this!)BMX bike! It's a WEBCO replica circa 1979! WHEW! I've said it and now it's off my chest! Well anyway its a bit chilly down here in central Florida but I did manage to get some downhill action near a place called (get this) HOWEY-N-HILLS. I skated near a fish camp next to a biker bar on little lake Harris. It's was about 50degrees out in the morning but it felt alot colder going down the fresh new blacktop!Just wanted to say hello to you and wish you and all my LONGBOARD BRO'S a safe and fun Holliday season! Hey NCL, glad to hear your pop is doing good. amazing what modern medicine can do nowdays. And are you a nuts or what. I thought I was the only old-timer that has gone crazy over my new-found sport. Pop Update and Random Thoughts

To All My Rowdie And Not So Rowdie Longboard and Skate Buddies: Pop Update: Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts sent for my father Tom Karr while he dealt with his heart attack and went through emergency bypass surgery. The "Man of Steel" (the name I like to call him) has been moved to a Cardiac Rehab facility and is doing great. He is bugging the crap out of the doctors to let him go back to work and told me that his physical therapists were two "cute young ladies". I guess he's feeling better, huh? He won't be home for Christmas but my brother and I have decided to "break him out" that day.
Random Thoughts: I am sure their are many colder places in the US, Canada, and around this skating globe of ours but DANG IT'S COLD IN NORTH CAROLINA RIGHT NOW! I am itching to skate but right now at night its in the teens and somewhat windy! I miss the summer!
Some of the local crew has taken a page out of Miko's book and have been hitting a Parking Deck late at night in Charlotte. I am planning on hooking up with them next week and see what it's like to bomb the curves of this multi-story parking garage. Needs to warm up first.
One of your younger longboard crew regulars has the right idea about getting people involved in the sport. He has been inviting at least one new person a month to our night sessions to see what it is all about. He has taken the time to put together a "loaner board" from spare stuff we all had (I "donated" a set of Wicked Wonder longboard wheels) that he lets the newbies use. It is a great way to expose others to longboarding, carving, and just crusing. I keep a spare helmet in the truck and usually take a couple of different boards from my quiver to the sessions for people to try as well. The thing we have all tried to keep in mind is with the new people we can't put them in a situation where they are in over their heads. The good news is most of our night session spots offer a variety of grades for all skill levels. If you don't have anyone to skate with then go find someone and teach them how to ride!
And last my by far, not the least: I wish for all of you a blessed and joyous Christmas/holiday season and a prosperous and healthy New Year.
