Hi Cliff,
I'd love to learn slides. Can you recommend set-up parameters, basic do's and don'ts, and/or any videos?
Any help greatly appreciated...

Tristan,
I owe a call to the guys at Lush and I also want to make another visit to Cornwall. I'll get on the move here very soon and then I can confirm a schedule.
About stand up slides, if you were regular foot this is what you could do. If you are goofy foot, just do the opposite. Start a left hand turn. Drop your center of gravity a few inches. Do a classic drop knee turn. Then reach out in the direction of travel with your hands. This should initiate the slide. Then if you want to stop the slide, pull the uphill hand back, as if you were going to place it in your pocket. This turns your upper body back to allign with the fall line and stops the slide. It gets you rolling, instead of sliding. The reaching with the hands keeps you over the board when it is sliding.

May 28th and 29th TimeShip Racing will host the Outlaw Invitational here in Abq. New Mexico where we have the world's longest banked slalom AND the worlds largest banked slalom. If you have been invited be sure to sign up on the Contest Calendar. Hang on! Now we have invited Cliff to attend and conduct a slide clinic, probably on our Super GS hill near the airport. Let's have a show of hands if you would like to come and study with Cliff here in God's Land of Ditches. Why race and lose to the best racers when instead you can SLIDE and RIDE with the best sliders!!! I can already smell a Bear slide session cooking.

Yo yo yo. Well back in good old sunnyish Cornwall. Just thought that I would put a most in to say a big thank you to every one we met skated with and stayed with during our time in San Francisco and Berkley.
The legends of endless runs to bomb and slide in Berkley are all true and the guys that ride there are not only legendary they are super fast, smooth and they all rip.
A big thanks to the San Hose crew too-sorry we didn't meet up on the last day-we were shatterd and took it easy on a hill out side Andrews house in Berkley. Good to final skate with you Everett it was awesome and big thanks to you Mark Johnson for showing us the San Hose scein and filming-if we could get a copy of any RAW photage you have that would be great.
Cliff and his crew were awesome to us and we cant thank you enough for all your kind hospitality. You are all welcome to Cornwall any time,
I looking forward to the future of sliding,
Best wishes

Hey cliff,
Just wanted to say thank you for doing the Tour De Berkeley the other week for the faltown crew and I. To say I had an unreal time would be a great understatement. I loved seeing all of the diferent styles of sliding from you, jim, the faltown boys, and the san fran crew. It was truely inspirational. Although I wish I could have stayed at that hill you developed a lot of slides at...but what can ya do? But it was nice to finally meet you, and get to skate with other people for a change. Hopefully if I ever get the opportunity again i won't rip my contact right before i start skating like the last times. But it was nice to do ok with out any real vision a head of you. hehe. Have fun.

Dear Cliff, I hope to be really active in the nascent longboarding scene here this summer. It is small but growing. I will do some talking with folks. I don't know enough yet to ensure enough bodies to pay for your trip here. But I would like to get out to the Danger Bay gig. Maybe someone there can organize you to do a workshop. Any fellow Canucks out that way able to organize a workshop at the Danger Bay race? Something that will compensate Cliff as well? Greg P.S. I am in Calgary, AB home of the Millenium Skatepark. Supposedly the worlds largest outdorr park. I just WISH they had not nixed the snake run.....

Greg,
I was in the Vancouver area and approximately 100 water miles North of there, up the Jarvis inlet. This was a long time back in 1967. This May, the third weekend, there will be a race at "Danger Bay", near Pender Harbour. I'm going to make that one and hang out with the "Coast Longboard" Guys.
I would love to come and do a clinic in your area. I just have to fit the scheduling. First of all, where are you located? Contact me with/for details via e-mail.

Cliff, That fee should just be for instruction. Travel and expenses/lodging should be paid by the group as well. Ever been to Canada? Greg P.S. Did the Faltown boys pay your way over there to England? They are awesome sliders! Sliding is a real artform!

Slide clinic for Deano

Deano,
I am running clinics at $50.00 per person as an introductrory offer until I get my web-site up and running. It will then be $100.00 per person. So to have a clinic in your area, you must set up a Pay Pal account for entries. Then when you have at least 20 students enrolled, it becomes possible to confirm the classes. We would need a good area to teach! The best would be a slight grade and as wide as possible. The less traffic the better! A parking lot would be ideal with a little grade and a smooth surface. Stay in touch with me for scheduling via e-mail.
Thanks, Cliff Coleman

I thought I would ask this here as there may be others who are interested...
Cliff, What does it take for you to come into town and put on a clinic? How many people, what is the cost per person and how are you compensated? I am working with a local YMCA and would love to bring you into town.
Also I hope you are thinking about the MAryhill race in June, this is one hell of a road and should not be missed!

Alex and crew,
I won't be arriving until about 10pm tonight. If you still have accomodations, you should probably stay one more night. I don't want you guys to get stuck not knowing when I might get in! It would be nice if some skaters have been putting you up? Anyway, you can call the number posted at any time day or night and I will arrange to meet you upon my return or tomorrow morning. 1-510-652-9653.

If i had a page, totally unsponcered, unflowed, there would still be certain products that i like ,for reasons of their function, and or design. I would mention them in a positive way and it would be a free plug and that should be ok with everybody,it would be nice if it fit into the thread of the conversation and things like telephone numbers and web site locations where the products can be found should probabely be left out, that'stuff is easy enough to research. If those same products are then rementioned by the people making them and plugged some more ,they're over my line.I think even if i then get sponcered by said people or even paid to use their products, the line is still in the same place. They should just put their ad on the side for 20 bucks, hmm maybe i will:)

Herbn,
You are right that this page should not be used for advertising. When educated, intelligent people do so, it worries me that they are doing so knowingly. The Vendors page is here for a reason. I do answer questions from time to time about the equipment I use. However, I always try to guide readers to the search function so that they can access all products in the group that they are interested in. I believe the reader should make their own decision regarding what products to buy.
Sincerely, Cliff Coleman

Adam,
There have been a few recent posts on this page and a few others advertising "Gravity" products. Although the crew at Gravity and its owner Michael Bream are my friends, these posts should only appear on the "Vendor´s" page. Michael, please read and follow the guidelines for posting at "ncdsa".
For those that still are not aware, I am not sponsored by Gravity and haven't been since December of 2003. It would be unfair to allow a company to use my name to promote their products without compensation.
Sincerely, Cliff Coleman

Charlie,
Good to hear from you. I am in Costa Rica at the moment. Congratulations on your recent wedding! I still race at the Worlds in slalom and am going to make the Downhill race at Danger Bay in BC this May. Other than that, I am running slide clinics all over the World and throughout the States. Give me a ring sometime at: 1 (510) 652 9653. We should get together, in the Bay area or up your way.
