It was a fun race, for sure. However, it was difficult in that rolling in over coping was necessary to make a fast time. And one transfer between bowls was more difficult, unless a person could do an air over a spine. Top three riders were all who were adept at rolling or airing over the spine. I'm sure young legs helped too.
Wally Inouye was there, and raced too.

Ridgefield Race Hill and the Wind

DAVE MITCHELL, or THOR, or SELLMAN- This morning the wind was coming out of the Northeast(uphill the way we usually use the hill), Is the other end of the road on the south facing hill where we run out our speed long enough to race from in the event of a strong Nor'easter? Just a thought. Otherwise we can really put the cones tight like Paul Dunn set at Morro Bay 2004 during the Saterday "General" slalom race where there's often an uphill breeze. Just another thought. OK, that's all I have for now. Ummm, so, like if I have any other ideas, I'll post them right here. On the CSA forum. Not on the Slalom forum. The Slalom forum would be appropriate since, like you know, we are talking about slalom. But I'll keep my comments on this specific topic right here on the CSA forum since we are, you know, talking about a CSA event. OK, so I guess that's all I have to say on the matter for now. So, umm, I guess that's it. Ok, so like, umm, later and stuff. -Paul

TAD- Ridgefield is about 20(?) miles north of West Lynn, I'll likely go there afterward. It's worth it. Thor's time estimate is about right.
DEANO-Probably 10am-ish, if you want to show up early and help, that would be awesome.
LEAF BLOWERS- If you got one, bring one, anyone.
I'll be stoked to race with you guys, broken bones and all-Paul

West Linn is 40-45 minutes from the race hill in Ridgefield.
Dave, as far as lodging goes. Salmon Creek area 134th st is where I-5 And I-205 come together. If you have been to any WSU sessions it is that exit. Bunch of new motels and hotels in that area and less than 10 minutes and 2 exits from the race hill.

Tad, Deathrace is tomorrow, Saturday a.m. - looks like a blast, wish I could make it! Deathrace info: North by Northwest 360-452-5144 -- $10 entry, Registration 9 a.m. Divisions 12 and under, 13-17, and Open. Cash prizes for open div. Proceeds to help pay off the PA Skatepark. Sunday -- David, there's several motels you can see from I-5 at the Hazel Dell exit just north of Vancouver, but there may be something even closer to Ridgefield, maybe Vantuckey boys know?
Mitchell, make it dry and sunny, we're a comin' to get ya!!

The course or at least proposed course through the skatepark has been posted. I thought I'd post the link here for you fellas.... PA is a park worth traveling to even if you don't want to race.

It won't be tight enough to impede you with your setup, you'll smoke a lot of people with that Lo-Tech thing.
Ramps, I could use one too. Alas, we will be sans ramps -M.M.

is this the same site as the past few races in ridgefield? i'm not complaining, i'm happy with any organized slalom event, but that hill is so fllaaattt..
does anybody know if there is anything steep for some downhill or sliding action close by? anybody down to go to portland for some dh action?? me and deano might..
skatepark sounds nice to paul, but i've been skating alot of those recently, and race season is coming up here, so its begining to be time to start hittin those hills again
also, how tight is the course gonna be? cus i only got one slalom board, and i use it for everything, mayble i'll clean my bearings this time around

Hmmm, I sense a distubance in the Force: I've got some insider knowledge that there's a good chance of some artsy homemade trophies in the works made by someone other than me, I'm keeping it secret. They should be pretty good. I might have to put on a back brace and rib belt and actually race. -M.M.

Hey Dave (Addington, Price, some other David?), I'll likely hit West Lynn Skatepark on my way home, that's at the south end of the greater Portland area. It's not terribly far off of I-205 or I-405 or whatever that Interstate Freeway is that circles around the EAST side of the greater Portland area. If you haven't ridden it, it's WAY worth it in my view. Talk about it with Hughes and use it for leverage to get him to come to the race. Adios-Paul

Cool! That hill is just a staple of CSA races, it's just not quite a "real" race season without racing Ridgefield. That's all I have to say on the matter.-P
Yeh but is it "gnar" enough for "real" slalom? WSU on Sunday? I am down to give it a go. 360-991-3307 since I will not be back on internet till Monday.
