The Seattle-Redmond Skate for MS registration is now OPEN!

The 24.5 mile event Starts near GASWORKS PARK in Seattle and goes East to Redmond Town Center.

The 12.5 mile event starts at TRACY OWEN State Park (near Kenmore) and goes East to end at the same place in Redmond.

Both the half and the full skate will start at 7:00 am.

MAP to start lines here:

http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/burkegilmantrailmaps.htm

Note that although this is the earliest start time yet, the Burke Gilman can still be busy at times, with the 100+ bladers in the event, and bicyclists, strollers, pedestrians, etc. Standard trail etiquette is to stay to the RIGHT, and its a good idea to keep looking back often. If you wear an mp3, keep the volume down enough to hear people screaming up behind you, and use your voice when you need to pass (one of your goals could be to pass as many bladers as possible)

The trail is very flat almost the entire duration, with only a couple relatively steep downhills, which are very short, and a few turns just before bridges.

For those doing the full-length ride, be aware before intersections that there are some gnarly "cattle guard" type concrete grooves about 15 feet before you reach the street. These can rattle your teeth out of socket. The best way to approach them is to first, look behind your shoulder for anyone passing or too close, then throw out your arm in the direction you're going to carve, and carve diagonally across the grooves. It's pretty standard procedure on sidewalk cracks, but this is like 10 sidewalk cracks in a row- now you know!

Afterward we will either hit some cone runs on a small hill (Stryker has volunteered to host an informal Slalom-newbie Session at a yet to be disclosed location) or we might hit a park - or we could just brunch - depending how people feel like after the ride. So if you're into it, bring your other setups!

Online registration is $55, benefitting Multiple Sclerosis of King County!!

NOTE: 15 and under - only $10 -- parent/kid teams welcomed!!
