Slide wheels/Landy
On 6/1/2008 PSR wrote in from United States  (75.68.nnn.nnn)

Vegasjls, also consider Powell Bombers in 68mm/85A for varied road conditions. The only real downside to these is that there's no bearing core, so on hot days, they'll get wobbly after prolonged slides or from really steep descents. Still, a great all-arounder and can be found for sale at a good discount.
Another wheel I'd recommend would be ABEC 11's Flashbacks [70mm, various durometers, but offset bearings], or Strikers (again, various duros avail.). Both of those have bearing cores, are fast, and not too fat for slides.

Wheels
On 6/1/2008 Lance wrote in from United States  (24.4.nnn.nnn)

You should use a 97 for anything that is butter or close to butter. (Sergio Yuppie Sliders from Gravity Skateboards). If you get to some rougher pavement, a bigger wheel like a 73mm 90 Duro is what I favor. Try out the Sergios, you will not be dissappointed. Gravity also sells a nice 73 90. Enjoy the Ride-Fail till you succeed- Slide forever!!!!! Lance NCSC P.S.- You can slide all wheels, just depends on how big your "SACK" is!

On 6/1/2008 Vegasjls wrote in from United States  (24.253.nnn.nnn)

My buddy just bought a Landyachtz board and some slide gloves. He wants to learn how to slide but is unsure what durometer of wheel to start with. He feels that the wheels that came with the board are too soft. Any recommendations? Thanks for any imput...

Well well.

Again, before it gets erased:

NO ELBOW PAD SLIDING!

En français peut-être? C'est trop tafiole.

Prennez en exemple le DABGER BAY SLIDE CONTEST, good way to establish rules. And try to be equal to everyone, not only the big shots.

Sliding competition rules, format, judging
On 1/27/2008 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (24.22.nnn.nnn)

We are adding a sliding competition to the 2008 Oregon State Games.

Unfortunately, I have never seen a slide competition, read any rules, or know anything about it. That won't stop me from putting on a contest though.

If you have any helpful suggestions, written rules, or description of what works and what doesn't -- please send them my way.

Thanks,

-- Pat
