TimeShip Racing presents Banked Slalom racing in Albuquerque. Points from this event will be awarded (though last place) towards the "All Around Skater" event for this years Sandia All Around Challenge in September (See details at bottom). We will race at the Bear, the Worlds Largest Banked Slalom course on Saturday morning at 10:00am, practice from 8:30am or the day before if you arrive early. Last year we finished in about 3 hrs. After the race we'll head to ditch play in the afternoon with shuttle support and guides.
On Sunday we'll head to a our Super GS course near the airport. This course is about a 1/4 mile long and speeds near 35 mph. Practice from 8:30am until 10:00am when racing will commence. After this race we'll calculate the standings and hold an awards ceremony. Prize money through 5th place, prizes through 10th, points through last. Afternoon ditch play with shuttles and guides until dark. Bring your quiver, you'll need it!
Registration: First, sign up here so we know how many to expect. You will need to register with TimeShip when you arrive in ABQ, entry fees are due at this time, Cash is king. We'll have someone at Los Altos Skatepark with a clipboard, maps and info until 9:00pm on Friday night, and there will be race day registration from 8:30 am to 9:30 am Saturday prior to the Bear Race. Maps to the next days location will be given out at this time. Entry fee covers both races. Donations to fuel the Shuttles will be accepted. Helmets will be required for all racers, pads are advised.
Format: Each racers gets 3 runs, we'll take the fastest time.
To Qualify: Drop in from the Start line at the Bear. Sounds simple right?
These hotels are reasonably priced, and right next to eachother. They are also near food and a five minute walk to the Los Altos Skatepark.

To reach the hotels from the airport, take I-25 North to I-40 East, I-40 to the Eubank exit North. Turn right off of Eubank onto Hotel Avenue. The Los Altos Skate Park is 2 blocks west of the Hotels on Lomas, past the softball fields. No fees, no hassles and no pads required.
"ALL AROUND SKATER" will be awarded at the "Sandia All Around Challenge" Sept. 25th and 26th 2004. This years event will include the Sandia Downhill, a Giant Slalom, points brought from the Banked Slalom placings, and elective events for points: High Jump, 360's and Longest Grind Points will all be available, so if you can't make it to the Banked Slalom event, you can still do well in Sept. by practicing your 360's or grinds all Summer! Prize money will only be awarded for the "All Around Skater" category, specialists can stay home. TimeShip Racing expects to see an even bigger turnout of All School riders and racers, representing all disciplines. |

The Bear went away hungry this year; no carnage, no flesh, no blood. Just some solid racing in the face of Nature and the Man. A complaint from a security guard brought the Man in, a conversation with GIJoe and the subsequent change in parking sent him away satisfied. The race went on!

Kebbek, Fatboy, DCDC, Afroman, Sector 9 for throwng down prizes. Mike May for buying me lunch. Some unknown for professionally prepared "safety gear". Tony Luna for aqua fria. Jim Z for the new socks. The kid with Afroman for bomb-dropping the bridge over the Bear. Stubbs for his belly. Every competitor for being ready to run on time and fast. We did 50 runs in 54 minutes. The race was finished and the awards presented before Noon, giving us lots of time to hit the skatepark and then Indian School.
Thank you everyone involved. It was one of the best racedays I've worked.
