Contest Info: Mississippi Grass Roots Slalom is proud to once again bring you Luna Slalom Jam. Luna has moved to a new location for 2005 in the heart of Ridgeland, a progressive suburb of the capitol city. The street is right in the midst of shopping, lodging, and restaurants. We are working on some discount coupons to some of Ridgelands best food and drink. More on that later... What about the race... The street is Avery Blvd. A newly completed (it's not even shown on Mapquest) 3-lane wide "cut-through" road with fresh asphalt and sidewalks. The road has a mellow to moderate slope with a very slight crown. We will be running a single lane Hybrid race on Friday night with practice starting at 5:00pm. Racing should begin by 6:00. We will be using a single start ramp for this race. Of course we will gather at a favorite watering hole for an awards ceremony after the last run. More info to follow. Saturday will be a full day of racing starting at high noon with a 17 and under Jr. Men's race followed by 17 and under Jr. Women's. Then we will run Women's and Masters 45+ classes. At 6:00pm it’s on to the Main Event, Luna Slalom Jam 2005, a duel lane Tight/Hybrid course under the lights open to all racers. A/B & C classes. Afterwards, Lisa has a fine awards ceremony/celebration "in store" for everyone where we will award the "Crawdad Cup" to all our class winners from the entire day. More about the hill. Middle of the hill looking up. Middle of the hill looking down. Bottom of the hill looking up. The Surface. Notice the curve. We will do our best to make the courses match, although we all know it's impossible. The Street has big run out. No smoking shoes at this race. The courses will be make-able by slalom racers of all levels, this ones about fun, but I have been known to throw in a tricky cone here and there. Oh, and don't let the mellow slope fool you, the surface makes her fast. Thank you to all the Luna Racers from over the past two years. Things are changing this year, but for the better. A little more laid back atmosphere to match the slower pace of life here in the South. C’mon down and join us for a weekend of racing!
