Slalom on the Farm 5.Open

The 5th Anniversary Edition

Friday August 5th @ 1pm on Shady Lane in Vista, NY we will run a Single Lane GS with a ramp start. You will get 4 runs and your best 2 times will be combined. If time allows, you will get 5 attempts. In traditional farm fashion, we will announce the winners at the Friday Night Party. During the race, please do not ask the scorers your times or you will receive a DQ.

As the sun begins to set, we will start a new event at the Farm...A Downhill Race. Each racer will get one run from the ramp to the bottom tape switch. No equipment restrictions but remember we are starting from the ramp. A longboard could bottom out.

Please remember this is a grass roots race. There will be traffic and we certainly appreciate everyone being on their best behavior. Also NO BEER ON THE CHURCH PROPERTY OR ANYWHERE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER. There will be plenty back at the farm. The Methodist Church has graciously allowed us park and hang out in their lawn. I have already been warned as the preacher observed beer being consumed 2 years ago. (She probably saw me). So please try and keep it clean. There will be kids watching as well.

On Saturday expect a tight Hybridish Course set by TK

Saturday August 6th @ 11am on Derby Hill in Bethel, CT, we will start the Hybrid Event. Your GS times will qualify you for the A,B,C, or D group. We will start with the D group and work are way up to the main event. (Hint, you pros or Group-A racers can sleep in a little on Saturday but we would certainly appreciate your help cone marshaling.) The top 16 GS racers will qualify for the A-Group, the next 16 will be our B-Group, the next 16 will be the C-Group and the remaining 8 will be the D-Group.

The Farm 5.0pen will be limited to 56 racers so EVERYONE WILL RACE HEAD TO HEAD.

Vintage Race

This years Vintage on the Farm Honoree is Bobby Piercy. The rules are simple, all boards, trucks and wheels must be pre-1978 however, you will earn more style points if you sport original German bearings and tracker TK101's but they are not necessary. Scoring is based on style, dress and equipment.

Camping

As our entry fees have increased (mainly to higher insurance costs), I anticipate more campers this year. No Worries! We plan in renting an outhouse and there will be running water (hose). Bring a solar shower etc... The only thing I would discourage is bringing your family to camp as it will be very primitive. There is plenty of room on the grass but if your a hardcore camper, there are plenty of woods to call your home for 2 days. The are the usual annimities...fire pit, horseshoes and of course a WV hottub. If you stay after Sunday you risk being put to work on the farm.

Hotels

Joe I. is working out some deals in the Norwalk, Ct area as this is a central location for both races and the party. More details will be posted soon.
