Overall Results: The BLR / LCB RADIKAL OUTLAW SERIES FINALE’
Was awesome! Team Radikal flew in from Florida the day before to set a super killer High Speed “Technikal” GS that was very challenging. It was a VERY HOT day out there in Poway on Pump Station road so the surface had a lot of oils excreting from the pavement which made wheel choice extremely challenging to say the least!

Racers from all over the Nation showed up to be part of BLR Outlaw history AND to see who would be the Victor of the series and winner of…..THE RING.

The $40. entry fee was a bit steep, but helped pay for the rental of our own private She-She Sushi Bar that would be our After Race Award Ceremony Chow –Down Major Blow-Out Fest Location!

Radikal “Big Daddy” Mark McCree set the course for this race and it looked good and fast; more on the “technikal” side of the GS genre and super fun and challenging.

Racers immediately started applying sunscreen and wrenching wheel choices for some practice runs around 10 AM. By 11, many racers were ready to throw down. At this time we received a call from the punctual side of BLR (O’Shei and oLsOn) saying that they were just leaving LA, and could we start the race later…Some Balls, Huh?

Anyway, these were the rules announced at the racers meeting:
1) Open race format starting at the top of the racer sign up. Course open from 12-3.
2) No cone penalty; 1 cone, your cool. Hit 2 cones, run is a DQ.
3) Board must be inside start box, unlimited push to start tape.
4) Feet must be on deck at all times between start tape and finish tape- No pushing.
5) Best two timed runs will be combined to determine fastest racer.

The started fast and hard at High Noon with Radikals’ Mark McCree going down around the 4rth cone. The Big Guy sucked it up like a man and went back to the “wrenching trunk” for a quick wheel change.

Next up was Series Points leader Maysey, who immediately threw down 28.95 to set the course speed possibility. Hackett followed with a respectable 29.95, but still a whole second off Maysey’s initial run. Enter “Racer X” – The COSS phenom blew doors on his first run with a 28.13 which would prove to be the fastest time of the day. Following Mitchell was THE BROWN BOMBER!! With a 28.76, Chaput at 29.72 on the “Green 6 Wheeled Weirdo” Deck followed by Kosick with a speedy 28.57, and Chicken at 28.97.

We raced, we wrenched, we waked, and baked in the pre 4rth of July 90 degree weather out on Pump Station road all day and loved every minute of it.

During the course of the day every one stepped up their game including Sector Nines’ Jeff Budro 30.71, Andrew Mercado, 29.14; BLR’s Palmer at 29.60 and LCB’s Lynn Kramer who smoked a few dudes with her aggressive charge earning her a 31.12.

About 1:30-2:00, oLsOn and O’Shei showed up hoping to be stylishly late (this only works at partys) and in typical BLR Bully Rebel Style, proceeded to try and cut a deal for 1) Discounted entry fee, and 2) More race time added to the schedual. The answers were Sorry, and No.

As I was walking up the hill toward the top of the course I saw oLsOn round the 4rth cone on a slow practice run and slam. It looked like an explosion of leather, Hair Grease, and Goggles and Ray Ban aviators. He got up laughing, but left a nice patch of elbow skin on the hot pavement on the same spot McCree christened earlier.

OLy pulled it back together to throw a 29.68 and a 29.36 to tie Hackett for 7th place, O’Shei posted 3 DQ’s in a row logged a 29.36 and begged for another timed run at the 3 o”clock cut off period. Sorry buddy. She must have been hot…

With the 4rth of July weekend traffic, we knew we had to bolt from the course to the Awards Ceremony before gridlock set in.

We all showed up at the restaurant, and proceeded to gorge on sushi, sashimi, sake and beer for the next hour while listening to Deep Purple. The table of swag and prizes looked like a portable skateshop and everyone partied hard while Tim and Hackett tallied the scores.

The awards ceremony started out with a special presentation of Award Certificates of Outstanding support and service to our main sponsors and people who supported the event such as Lynn Kramer and Tiger Williams for always providing an OUTSTANDING timing system that never failed us once; next was EG and Jeff Budro from SECTOR NINE who kicked down cash and massive boxes of swag at every race; then Chicken from POCKET PISTOLS SKATES who set courses, donated some awesome slalom and pool decks as well as many sets of MANX wheels and really went our of his way to print some sick-ass PUMPSTATION RACE SERIES tees! Khiro Bob and Lou Ann Hinrichs from KHIRO SKATEBOARD PRODUCTS who swagged it up for every race and awarded a bonus of $200. to Mike Maysey for winning the Series.

Last and certainly not least, was the BEST SPONSOR award which went to RADIKAL TRUCKS’ Mark “Big Daddy” McCree for his continued support of prize money, swag and all around support of Slalom racing. He was presented with a killer trophy complete with a RADIKAL truck mounted on top!

Next up was the awards and times presentation of the days’ race:

3rd KOSICK 28.70
4th BOMBER 28.57

Now was time for the Grand Finale OUTLAW SERIES POINTS PODIUM presentaion.
World Famous Silver Smith “TC” was there wearing THE RING; as Hackett announced 3rd place Series Trophy winner CHICKEN from PPS. 2nd Place winner was Brent Kosick who has been on the podium at every race!

A HUGE ROAR OF CHEER was heard as MIKE MAYSEY was announced the overall
BLR OUTLAW GS CHAMPION!! MAYSEY, a true Champion; humbly accepted the first BLR RADIKAL CUP, a $200. check from KHIRO and of course – THE RING!

Also Black Leather Racing, 3Dm Wheels, Manx Wheels, Deathbox Skateboards, Just Push Play.com, Osiris shoes, Gladiator Gear, Image Entertainment, California Hybrid and PunkRock Skateboards!!
