The Cornwall Classic will double as the Canadian National Slalom Skateboarding Championships for 2014.
We are looking forward to bringing slalom racing to a new city and my hometown. We have been received well with regards to hosting the slalom event and are looking forward to showcasing our sport to new people.
OSCTP is running two weekly skateboard camps during the summer and will also be hosting up to four slalom clinics and several practice sessions in order to get locals involved.
We have several partners and also plan to do some fundraising for two groups in Cornwall one is of the groups is "Partir D'un Bons Pas" and we are also fundraising and creating awareness for the Skatepark Coalition in Cornwall. We are working on what I hope to be a world Class Skateboard facility offering diverse ridding terrain.
Race Dates are Aug 30 and 31st. At this point we will be running A AND B groups based on qualifying times in a normal 1 run on each course fashion. We will be running a HYBRID AND Tight Slalom on August 30th and Special Slalom on the 31st.
The venue is a Lamoureux Park that runs along the St. Laurence river, 100 Water Street near Mocktails. The exact race location is behind the Civic Complex near the Bandstand.
Canadian National Championship Honors in the following categories are up for grabs. Men's, Women's, Junior Boys 17 & under and 12 and Under Juniors.
Accommodations: Cornwall Classic lodging partner is First Canada Inns. Let them know you are with the Cornwall Classic skateboard event. We only have 9 rooms set aside. They offer double or King beds but are limited. Our special rate is $90 plus tax. Small fridge, & microwave in each room. Located approximately 8 minutes from the race venue on 1618 Vincent Massey Drive. West end off Cornwall. Get off 401 at Exit 786 on Power Dam Dr. (right from the West & Left from the East) then left on Vincent Massey. 1-800-545-3689 or 613-936-0400.
