Come and join the Texas Outlaws for three days of slalom fun in Houston (Hockley) Texas
March 27th 28th and 29th 2019
Friday March 27th: Giant Slalom & Downhill Speed Trap or 100 cone challenge.
Saturday March 28th: Hybrid Slalom
Sunday March 29th:100 Cone Challenge
All three days will be held at the Hockley Soap Box Derby Hill.
The soapbox derby hill is closed to traffic, has lights, restrooms and seating for spectators. The Asphalt on a scale of 1-10 is a 9, the hill is a quarter mile long and drops at 1st a 6% then a 4% grade speeds can reach 30-35 MPH due to an almost constant tail wind.
EVENT DISCRIPTION
FRIDAY
: Giant Slalom will be single lane jam style A Class B & C class will be chosen by the timer. Racers may go off the big ramp 
the small ramp
or no ramp. There will be one lower start that may be chosen by the racer but a 30 second penalty will be added to their time Cone penalty .20 per cone 15% cone DQ limit, all racers get two runs.
Bragging rights downhill, no Prize money no ISSA points. Fastest through the trap (88 feet you time is converted to speed) wins. The racer can go down the BAR the regular ramp or push you can pump or tuck or push all the way before the trap but both feet must be on the board while you go through the trap.
SATURDAY
Hybrid slalom will be 1st qualifying and then head to head racing. Cone penalty .10 per cone 15% cone DQ limit; we will be using Ricky Byrd style start ramps and Trakmate timer with false start detection. If you false start it will be a DQ for that run.

100, 75 & 50 Cone Challenge Set by Sk*kings Own Richy, the "Brown Bomber" Carrasco!!
Starting at the top of the hill this race will be run single lane mule style. All racers get three tries.You can hit up to 10% (ten cones) and still get a time, but it you hit more you will hear a air horn and have to pull out of the course. Then we will take off the top 25 cones and run a 75 cone challenge. and then another 25 and run a 50 cone challenge. Just like with the 100 cone challenge all the racers get three tries and the 10% dq limit rule applies.
This is a special event Just for this Sizzler so come on out and give it a try!!
Please note: There will be A, B and C classes for Pros and AM’s Masters, Woman’s and Juniors this year, only your time will seat you nothing else, and all points will be to where you place after head to head racing within the entire class. So, this means that if there are for example, 8 racers in the A class and you come in 1st in the B class you will be in ninth place for the whole class and so on down the line. If we have enough Master’s & Juniors or woman to make a division (declared the magic number is 4) then they will be eligible to win both their class as well as they place they earn over all.

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the postponement of this year’s Cold fusion Sizzler. There are mitigating factors that have all to do with the COVID19 virus, flying is not a good idea we could spread the virus ect. But the biggest factor has been that the venue in Hockley Park can not longer be guaranteed. According to the Parks and rec department right now the park is open but that could change, it could change next week it could change the day of the event and it could happen with no notice. In light of this the parks and rec has recommended that we postpone the race till later in the year. The Texas Outlaws have been holding the Sizzler for seventeen years and we have never canceled, until now, and even thought we are very bummed out because we have to do this, but, it would be even worse when have people to pay their entry fee, got flights and hotels, only to get to the hill and find out that it is unavailable. |
