This is really THE BEST LONGBOARD I HAVE EVER TRIED!!!!! Why look for another deck, the Cloud9 is really the perfect weapon. It is so perfectly flexy, just the right length, concave with a cool designed kicktail. All these caracteristics make the Cloud9 the board that is excellent for carving, downhilling and also for fast speedy flat ride. The flexiness is just so perfectly cool while pumping for super speed and it is not too concave, just the perfect shape for good aggressivity and responsiveness and also can be adapted for a smooth soulful ride of the longboards state of mind. THIS IS THE PERFECT BOARD FOR ANY KIND OF STYLE OF RIDING.

This board looks like a surf design. It rides weel for cruisin done the streets of my flat-town ( Grenoble, French Alps) but the tail is quite useless(i need to protect the under, for no delamination) for goin' on the sidewalks. The seven plys are enough for having a create flex and responsivness. it's very usefull when riding on moutain roads. The original wheels are a bit soft 87a for sliding sideways in order to learn how to break.
But my overall impression is: great board for carving, need a system to protect the tail. If you really want to make ollies and flips, better buy the Cloud9. As for me I bought this one for carving and goin as often as possible to work.
I fisrt thought buying a Senorita Love Joy from Freeride. But they were unavaible in France!

This board kicks ass on the downhill. Full carves, solid snaps, 360s, super fast. It's a really good surfing crosstrainer if you want to be a power surfer. For crosstraining that feels like new school "trick" surfing ride the 42" version...

Hi. This board is awesome! It looks and carves like a snowboard. This guy in a little skate shop called Sidewalk Surfer* slapped some Sector9s and Sidewinder trucks on it (Sidewinder no longer makes trucks- good all around ones, if you can find them). The board is cool looking- 48" long, 11" wide, snowboard shape, 4 holes instead of wheel wells. It attracts attention from everyone, so if you're looking for girls, get one of these ;-) Lots of sticker space. I'm only 12 so if you are beginning its cool (and easy). See my review for my dad's Flexdex above.
*Sidewalk Surfer is the best shop my skateboarding pals or I have ever been to. Its on Long Beach Island in NJ. I swear its worth the drive (although it might not be worth it if you live in California. I live in MD). It has the best prices on the planet. I don't work there so this is for real.

I did not see a review of any Freeride's so I must let anyone that cares know that these boards do rule for pure downhill and carving. Minimal Flex, but ultra responsive. It has performed well at Lansdowne in the bowls as well. A *very* good board for summer snowboard simulation like carving and downhill fakie riding. I almost want to bolt some switch bindings on it for fun one day! A friend has the same shape Freeride but in a 36" (or so) length and it is rad too.

Its weight and length help for super fast speeds. genuine cruiser that can bomb a hill with soul. Sturdy, hefty, yet nice and flexy. Loosen up the trucks and hit the asphalt.

I am from Paris France, and I bought my sector9 in La jolla last year during summer vacations. Since that time I never stop riding in France, I just love it!!! My friends and I bought some wood and trucks with Kryptos wheels to make our own skateboards and we all ride in a special place : it is a 4 levels parking where we traced a circuit, and from the top to the end it is always going down very fast. The asphalt is very unique, clean and polished. My original Downhill is perfect for that kind of skateboarding. This summer, I just met a french guy who was working for sector9 in France. I met him in Hossegor, the best French spot for surfing. They organized the 30th of August a special Sector9 event with free tests in a skatepark. That day, there was also the surfing competition, and I saw Sony Garcia the Hawaiian dude and a lot of surfers from Australia, Tahiti and California. It was really crowded and Party time every night!!! I could try the Cloud9 which I tought it was a really cool deck for skatepark. It was much more radical and aggressive than my original downhill. I think the Cloud9 is universal board, because it has its concave kicktail for flight!!! I want to buy one for sure!!! Anyway I'm happy to have discovered this site! It's so cool. See ya dudes, au revoir mes freres!!! AKI, a French downhiller.!!!

Yes, they still make them. I started downhilling back in the 70's, didn't do it for years, and then just started again this year. I was trying to re-create the board I rode then. The new FiberFlexes are different from the old ones -- a buddy still has his and it rides great -- but they still have that feel. Surf style, Los Gatos, hard wheels for burning speed at will.

WARNING!!! Sector nine Australia would have to be the slackest bunch of @#$%^&&@ to ever run a skateboard company. I ordered my skateboard over a month ago and still havn't recieved it. Yes you might say it generally takes that long but They constantly tell me it will be there at the end of the week. If it wasn't such a great carving board I would deal with soeone else! Enough of the bitchin.... (I take nothing away from their boards they are great but Guys, get your logistics right...!!!

This board is insane. It is easily the best board I have ever ridden. It accelerates on every turn, and is great for slides, slalom, and downhill. Keep up the great work Flexdex.

This board is much like a snowboard. Made of 6 ply wood and so flexible. Also its feature is so peculior with 4 holes on the deck to prevent friction between weel and deck.
It is said that soft board is not suitable for the downhills but I personally reccomend you to try it once.

This is one wild board. 44x9 7 ply pintail with tons of camber, a subtle concave, and a vicious-looking hook nose. This one came equipped with Tracker B-2s on angled risers and 70mm Kryptonics. The thin deck (7/16") combined with the 1-1/8" camber makes for a very springy, but not too-soft ride. I'm 185 lbs and it had plenty of pop for my weight. This board is lots of fun to pump and does pretty well in the carving department too, but the arched deck takes some getting used to. Its truck mounting points are well fore and aft making wheel bite impossible. My hat's off to Sector 9 for longboard design innovation. If you were into Fibreflex decks 20 years ago and want that in a longboard, then this is the board for you.

I've been riding the CR II since April. Very unusual board but incredibly satisfying. The kicktail is absolutely unbelievable and the camber is pretty massive. I would recommend this board for riders who are upwards of 170lbs due to the fact that lighter riders will have difficulty making it flex to any great degree. The board is not as flexible as the old Fiberflexes but does contain a wood and fiberglass combination. If it's any consideration, the graphics are pretty cool too. While you won't be hitting high speeds with this board, you will find that it does give a great ride.

Rift is a snowboard company from seattle washington which I became aquainted with at an event ay MT. Hood Oregon this past winter. By the way, their snowboards are awsome. but more to the point is that the rep at this event had a prototype longboard that was made of carbon fiber. the board was modeled after the 48" Sector 9 pintail downhill board. The board was extremely ridgid and wieghed only about one third as much as a comparable wooden deck. Unfortunatley I didn't get a chance to ride it (It wouln't roll on the snow) and the rep didn't know how being launched into a curb would affect the carbon fiber material. he did know, however, that the carbon fiber would not fatigue over time as is common with wood.

I have now ridden loads of longboard decks. At first the flexiness of the Cloud Nine put me off. However now they have the concave in it it is one of the best all round decks I have ridden. they seem to have the balnce of kick to board lenght right and the concave allows flex in turns but it isn't too springy for bank and bowl. All the other decks are great as well and swalow tail makes a great bombing board. Don't be put off if its all you can find 'cos you are basicallly finding the best in that 42"-50" range.
