Hey Mike, The last train to Boston was soldout. I'm still here to run. What about Bull Run on Friday around 5:30 to 6? There's no lights so if it's really hot, night-riding at Walker or Park and Ride is probably better.

Any of you Bay Area slalomers going to be skating this weekend? I might be heading up your way and I'd like to meet up with some fellow coneheads. Email me if you or someone you know will be skating and when.

...was a washout. We found a new spot in downtown West Palm Beach to ride...short, fast hill, lots of fun for a wide-open course.
Anyone else in So. Florida up for some slalom? If there is any interest, I will look into getting permits to close off the street in question every month or two (they do that sort of thing all the time in WPB), in addition to regular practices at Dump Rd. and Abacoa.

Dr. K, I am glad to report that due to legal, ethical, and medical concerns the thumb had to be removed. A full recovery from the amputation is expected shortly, and slides are cleaner and faster due to the lower drag from the loss of 20% of the previous finger-sliding friction. Cheers ;-)

The first slalom of the 2002 California Championship series at West LA College had some tough courses, bright sunshine, and hot competition. In the tight slalom Richie Carrasco nipped Paul Dunn by 0.007 seconds for the win (yes, less than 1/100th!). Then Paul took the shortboard GS over John O'Shea and Richie. In the longboard GS Paul Dunn took yet another win. The inline giant slalom had Scott Peer winning with the fastest time of the day, followed by Pat Grasch (yes, a woman!) and then Ellen Palazzo, a 13 year old girl who is now the youngest racer to podium at West LA College, and probably the youngest to take an IGSA podium. There were quite a few new faces who practiced but weren't ready to race this time, hopefully we'll see them in the results later in the season. A fun day was had by all, and thanks to everyone for working, racing, and taking part!
Tight Slalom: Richie Carrasco 14.152 Paul Dunn 14.159 Steve Evans 14.313 Attila Aszodi 14.711 Bill Wahl 15.343 Mike Gorman 17.462 Michael Kaelon 20.490 Siale Saili DQ Marlon Whifield DQ John O'Shea DQ
Shortboard GS Paul Dunn 26.386 John O'Shea 26.609 Richie Carrasco 26.721 Siale Saili 26.809 Bill Wahl 27.013 Attila Aszodi 27.044 Eric Groff 27.154 Steve Evans 27.271 Marlon Whifield 29.184 Roger Jennings 29.896 Mike Gorman 33.153 Michael Kaelon 33.169
Longboard GS Paul Dunn 26.897 Attila Aszodi 27.424 John O'Shea 27.523 Richie Carrasco 26.721 Siale Saili 27.854 Roger Jennings 30.684
Inline GS Scott Peer 25.726 Pat Grasch 30.332 Ellen Palazzo 32.134 Stephen Palazzo 34.875

Chuck, You`re gonna laugh when you see this. Old ladys shopping cart loaded with cones, 4 completes and saftey equip.
Fred Sanford would be proud.
And do you remember what you forgot to bring last time?...a towel to wipe the sweat out of your eyes. (I dare ya to give me the opp to say "I told ya so"
ps...I`m only bringing a skate wrench. No field dressing your sticks this time....

Sorry, Red Clay guys. Gotta go watch 'da 'Cocks do 'da Dawgs for three in a row (never happened before.)
All I can say is when you announced a state championship, I was hoping it was a weekend with an away game. That's the only way I'm getting to go to the W.Va., race: Carolina's at LSU.
Oh, I e-mailed Chip at wjbf.com (must work at the TV station?) No answer as of yet. Making Sunday trips over to the CSRA for some racing would be fun.
