I believe the banks are nice and smooth, but if its the same banks im thinking of, I know the military was at that site for a while so the surface might be wrecked. I'll have to check it out before the race.

The surface isn't buttery smooth, but has good traction! There will be a big change in temperature due to sun exposure/shade from the buildings etc..

New York Longboarding Assoc's - Broadway Bomb
On 10/2/2002 Bill Gravy wrote in from (216.178.nnn.nnn)

OK everyone this is the official notice for the "Broadway Bomb" Longboard race down Broadway in NYC.

The race will be from 110th street and Broadway on October 19th at High Noon. We will ride, not really race, down to Bowling Green through vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
For those of you who don't know Bowling Green is where Broadway ends. There is a statue of a bull at the north end of Bowling Green and we will use it as the finish line.

I cannot stress enough how dangerous this race is.
I would like to suggest that everyone wear a helmet.

Randal Trucks will supplying prizes and we will be having Post-race party at Ryan's Pub (John and Gold Streets. We will have a modest tab to spend. YEAH!
Once again, we will meet on 110th Street and Broadway at 12 noon

Broadway Bomb
On 9/30/2002 Ian wrote in from (152.163.nnn.nnn)

Broadway Bomb race in New York City.
This is a serious race for longboarders who are EXPERIENCED in riding in vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The race is on Saturday October 19th at 12 noon. We will meet at 110th street and Broadway. We will start soon after 12 and race down Broadway 7 miles through cars, trucks and people.
The finish line is Bowling Green Park at the tip of Manhattan where Broadway starts. There is a statue of a bull at the northern end of Bowling Green and the first rider to touch the bull wins! I cannot stress the danger of this race enough. I have been riding in NYC for 25 years and yet was hit by a car just last week.
There are prizes and a party after the race. There are no entrance fees for this race.
I cannot be responsible for the safety of riders. Please do not enter this race unless you are very experienced riding in traffic. I suggest riders wear protective equipment, especially helmets.
For more info please call Ian at 917-674-7683 or E-mail at ibunyc@aol.com also check out the website
