Brian, I've still got some of your cones. I won't stay out late Fri. night so I can make it early.
Brooms and/or blowers are needed. The road has some sand and dirty that needs to be cleared.

DC OUTLAW SERIES RACE #2 - Fountainhead regional park.
Longboard will start at 10am. Traditional slalom at noon.
I have all of the boards for the spec class race. I think Noah and Tim have both got there own boards and I will have boards for everyone else. Since this will be the very first Bahne spec race I have a new Bahne T-shirt as a prize.
Anyone in the DC area who has not started slalom racing and would like to check it out this will is a great opportunity. The couses are set fairly easy and the hill and surface are very forgiving. Everyone is welcome. And the DC Crew will have extra boards and pads for anyone who want to give it a try. Drop me a line if you need more information.
I have attached the mapquest map for anyone who still needs directions.

Slappy, Sundays at Vans are supposedly bike sessions 7-9 & 9-11.
And your posting about the session was NOT a violation of NCDSA user agreement. I'm sure you knew that, just saying it for everyone else's benefit.

It's an event when you are posting to give explicit direction when and where for riders throughout the state to make it. It's an event when you *FINALLY* get a bunch of old guys who ramp/park/pool/bowl ride to come out and check out slalom. It's an event when Mike Rogers, who runs a skatepark associated with the YMCA (among many other contributions to skateboarding) comes out and pledges any support he can give to both helping get thri=ough city beaurocracy to hold races and/or practices, and to introduce younger riders to slalom through the Y. It's an event when Alan "Ollie" Gelfand comes out to race with us, and decides once and for all he wants to start slaloming (and aybe even on something other than a double-kick ramp deck). It's an event when we can turn a p*ssed-off construction foreman who is throwing us off his site under threat of arrest into an ally, and getting the site approved for use by his company, complete with releases, 2 days later. It's an event when the local news networks are notified, and actually send folks out to cover it. It's an event when three local networks air a story on the "middle-aged family men" who are racing on a closed-down portion of an interstate highway. And it's an event when one of those stories talked about attempting to secure a downtown street for a racesite, thus forcing the city to publicly deal with the facts of what we are trying to accomplish.
And just to make sure we comply with the posting guidelines, this was also the Southeast Regional Belvedere District World Outlaw Slalom Championships. We all decided John Gilmour is our new World Champion by virtue of the fact that (a) He did the fastest-looking runs (with no timing system...I hear it's in the mail...how else can you tell...oh and no one b*tched about the results either), (b) he wore the coolest looking sunglasses, and (c) he was the only one to leave blood and skin on the course yesterday. So in light of the fact that World Champion John Gilmour wears Black Flys sunglasses, and every little bit of equipment helps you go faster, I am now going to get myself a pair of 'em. Or maybe just those big white square-framed wrap-around Gucci's I've had my eyes on. For those who care about such things, the World Champion's equipment included Roe and Ed Economy decks, Turner, Seismic, Invader, and PVD trucks, and Turner wheels. He was also seen riding Trackers and Radikals, and some ABEC 11 wheels too (boys and their toys, you know). Rumor has it he even took a run on a *gasp* Turner deck.
Oh, and what makes this race a World Championship? Because we said so. Contrary to popular rumor, there is slalom skateboarding outside of California.

Slappy, I dont get angry, I'm probably the most even keeled son of a bitch you'll ever meet.
I would like to point out that I'm going to have to report you to Adam for useing this forum in not the manor it was intended for.
Please read the user agreement and posting guidelines before you break more rules, we would all hate to loose somebody with your value and importance to skateboarding because you broke a few little rules.
At this time you will be excussed do to the fact that most kids make mistakes, and you just didnt know any better. Try harder next time though.
This has been a public service announcment courtesy of Arab to warn those people that violate the guidlines on NCDSA.
you dont have to thank me its my duty to look out for the helpless kids.

John thanx, I was actually just doing what Slappy has tried to do elsewhere, He thinks he's the NCDSA internet police and has to stick his nose where it doesnt belong, so I thought I would just return the favor. Maybe little kids shouldnt play with their parents computors?
But since Slappy is out trying to patrol NCDSA I just thought that his post about going to a skatepark has nothing to do with an event, maybe he should take all this illegal activity to the riding location page here at NCDSA.
Kids...........they just dont know any better!
Peace John

Yo Arab! Welcome back....I consider going to the sk8park or practicing worth posting on this event forum especially if one is trying to invite/roundup others to join....my 2.5 hour drive in holiday traffic to skate Vans-Woodbridge yesterday was an event in itself...as I could've skated there in probably less time had there been no salt/sand still on the roads. I utilize this forum as a means to communicate w/others, especially the DC Crew rather than use long distance phone calls all the time since money is sort of tight for me right now. Also, unofficial races seem to be announced here too.

Does going to the Skatepark Qualify as an event?
Does Practiceing skateboarding qualify as an event?
I dont want to do something wrong here so alittle clarification would help.
Thanx alot Arab

"Two hundred years of American technology has unwittingly created a massive cement playground of unlimited potential. But it was the minds of 11 year olds that could see that potential." -C.R. Stecyk
After being ejected twice in the last three days from our usual favorite spot in downtown West Palm Beach, the hunt was on for a new hill. They are few and far between in South Florida...but then again they're right under your nose if you open your eyes a bit. Interstate highway construction often yields all manner of skateable terrain, albeit temporary. Inspection of an ongoing airport access project revealed a nice off-ramp with unused pavement. In the background is an on-ramp with pavement so fresh it was still too soft to skate, even with our seasonably cool mid-60's temperatures yesterday.
The road was swept, the course was set and marked, and warm-up practice runs began. No sooner did the skating start than a pickup truck came screaming up the road...we have learned to recognize when someone is angry just by the way they drive, or stop, or get out of their car. It is something all skaters learn due to constant exposure. The truck was being driven angrily. "You guys know you are trespassing on a government construction project, you are guilty of a felony, and if you don't start picking up and leaving now I'm calling the Highway Patrol?" While the 11-year-old mind can discern the skate potential of modern architecture, the 40 year old mind that started skating at 11 has learned not only how to discern such terrain, but how to deal with any "officials" who would seek to limit their access to such terrain.
End result...there will be a big slalom session in West Palm Beach tomorrow. We will be meeting at the usual spot on Iris St. and skating 'til noon or we get thrown out, whichever comes first. At noon, we will be skating the construction project...the release was faxed over from the construction company's lawyers this morning...for 4 hours the road is ours. It is wonderful what a little sweet-talking, coupled with the proper alignment of the stars, can get you.
Peter Verdone, Alan Gelfand, Brady Mitchell, and Steve Marinak may all be there. The definites, along with ourselves, are Mark McCree, John Gilmour, Kieth Hollien, and Bobby Mandarino. We will also be at Olliewood tonight trying to convince some the other old-timers (and young uns too) to come out and try (or re-try) slalom. It will be a huge time, and we will be there...will you? E-mail for directions if you want to attend. Cameras will be present, still and video. Possibly news cameras, too.
Oh yeah, speaking of sweet-talking folks, it looks like the Virgin Hills of Port Orange may yet be ridden one more time. The developer who was so angry when he first came to throw us out last month may provide a release of liability, and close the streets for us to do it one more time before the streets become public. Next weekend is the target date. Stay tuned...

Jeff, Justin, and any lurkers hoping to break out with the DC slalom outlaws, Tomorrow is too close to X-Mes for some of the racers, so next official DC Outlaw race is the morning of January 4th at Fountainhead Park in Prince William County. But Brian is still having a 'practice' race tomorrow. I would say it's at the G-Burg P&R, but I won't speak for Brian.
