I like to think myself as a longboarder (downhill). My high school has some pretty phat riders and some sick ass skill. Our organization, Piedmont Boarding Association, would like to know if there are any bay area competitions going down. Even if the competitions are informal, we would love to attend. Any competitions or what ever? Write to Newmankona@aol.com Thanks from pba riders Neumann and Beilock

I just joined the Federation for the Advancement of Skateboard Technology (FAST). Their mission is similar to that of Linux and other "open source code" organizations. Brainstorming is encouraged, all new ideas are discussed and appreciated, all knowledge and technologies are made available to all others online. They want to encourage the do-it-yourselfers to make high quality equipment affordable and availble to all. There is a special clause that provides a time window in which someone can develop a "secret weapon" for racing or product for marketing before everyone else gets full access to the intellectual property. I don't want to see our sport dumbed down. Bright, forward thinking people unite! Hugh, Herbn, Dan, GBJ, anyone? Email me for info.

Doobie,

We are just having some fun with word play... but seriously, teach the youngsters (and oldsters too) by example and you will reap much greater rewards. Repay anger with anger and you have a fight. Repay anger with understanding and you plant a seed that someday may grow a friend... HR

Hugh... I was just playing around about the organization... at the time, and I was upset about an incedent that happened, so I tried t make some fun with it... I have realized that the sh!t talking is just a part of growing up, and as I look back a few years(5) I was just as big of an ass as that kid was acting me, I eventually learned the hard way how to keep my mouth shut... cause if it wasn't, I'd get my behind kicked... I guess I was trying to scare the kid off of that path, cause you really don't get any enjoyment out of the talk... or the beating... hope you understand where I'm coming from....
