FUZZ...

My two female roomies (oh yeah.. ;) ) play rugby! It's not as huge here in the states, but I get a kick out of watching it....not sure I understand all of it though.

I hear some really obscure comments when I'm skating too. I skated by a pack of gangsta's once, and this guy says... "Oh yeah, those are those bannana boards"... heh heh. I think from now on when a security guard or cop tells me there's no skateboarding allowed, I'm just going to tell him I'm "bannana boarding". :)

I get comments from the football meatheads too like "hang ten" and "Surf's up!"

Idiots.

I know this is not a shortboard page, but there is alot of oldschool community here. Does anybody know where I can get Santa Cruz's 'Speed Freaks' video? If you have any idea please make a posting or email me! Thanks!

Drunk hockey fans...copy Hizzout. Down here it's drunk
rugby-heads who share comments such as "ollie it mate"
or "surf on dude", oh man.

Sometimes these guys hear the wheels and swing around to say
the first thing they think of, all one guy could think of after
a short struggle was to yell "shut up!" at me.

Now all the dept stores are selling aloha shirts, the rugbyheads
are wearing them..."Surf on dude".

Great story man...boy your life sounds rough! :)

I too was told I was going too fast in a 30...although I don't think I was given how short the hill is. I just think the cop wanted me out of the way for all the drunk idiot hockey fans walking around here in Denver, CO.

Go AVS!! Okay...I'm one of those idiot, drunk hockey fans too... :)

Tobbe och Jens!

Tobbe, jag vill veta mera om 08-DH Classic. Jag har läst något på Åkaskidor eller ett annat magasinet. Ants Paljasmaa har e-mailad mig info. Finns den tävlingen i Högdalen?

Jens, My DoubleDiamonds are 72mm 78A. They are not rounded and they have a offsethubs! They ride smooth.

On 2/15/2000 NIGHT VISION FUZZ wrote in from (193.62.nnn.nnn)

I got pulled over (kinda) by the cops on SUNDAY at about 3:00 am!
After a boring night of no alcohol and watching 'Jacob's Ladder' on TV (again!), I decided to bomb a main road in the Swansea area - gets real busy in the day but in the early hours the stretch from the top end of UPLANDS/SKETTY/TYCOCH down Walter Road to bottom of Mount Pleasant is a good 2 mile stretch...
Strapped on my head lamp to a baseball cap (more for the walk along the pathways than the actual skate-run) and trudged through the night (clear as, and super dry) to the start-point.
Once there, put on my cap (with head-lamp) and launched off. With the open road before me I laid down several deep carves and straightened out after the first steep section to gain speed for the second... At this point a car pulls up behind me (I'm doing about 25mph) and just hangs there...I give him a wave to over-take, he still hangs there, I quickly checked over my shoulder then crouched into the steeper second section (through UPLANDS and traffic lights). Start laying into the carves again, through traffic lights - which were on green, and continued along smooth road to long gradient and final third section. I checked over my shoulder again and realised this was a cop car (the noddy on the roof kinda gives it away), what was I going to do? I couldn't bail, I was going too fast...I couldn't slide it, my new 74 wheels are far too tacky... Sod it, I gave him another wave to overtake (he didn't) and dropped into the final section - smooth and fast. I love carving on this stretch of road, you can fully hear the wheels making that 'VURING' noise, plus there is absolutely no traffic at this time of the night (except for a few piss-heads walking home from the clubs). Continued through a road crossing where two young girls yelped as I zoomed by, crouched under some road bollard/barriers - my token tube ride and out into the flatter run off section...
I waited for the inevitable...
The road cop pulls up level with my as I stop and the passenger cop (driver on the other side - remember) rolls down the window...
"Do you realise what speed you were doing in a 30 mph zone?"
I indicated my board..."Um, no speedo..."
"You bloody idiot...blah-de-blah" at this point the cop was smiling, "pretty impressive though..." he says.
"We were just checking to make sure you weren't some pissed idiot having a laugh"
I smiled...I think...
The other cop chips in now, "At least you've got lights anyway..." he points to my hat.
Back to the passenger cop, "Hmmm...Make sure we don't catch you on this road in the day, it gets pretty busy, and that..." pointing at my board "...thing is not exactly, ummm..."
"Yeah, I'm sorry" I was crawling now "thankyou...good-night" I thought I'd better quit while I was ahead.
"Oh, yeah... night..."
And off they went...
I think they were kinda bemused by my stick, I don't think the Rossers have seen anything like 'em.
I thought I was gonna get busted for breaking the speed limit...It was worth it though...
That's gonna be one I tell my grand-kids...one day!

Speaking of cops (again),

Last night I skated the outdoor mall here in Denver, where the cops are pretty strict on skaters, but Sunday's it's dead.

I get stopped by a cop on a motorcycle, and he only stopped me to check out my board. This is twice this has happened.

Interesting....

The cops here in NZ have totally given up on policing skaters.

Policing budget cuts are the reason, combined with staff cuts
as well, less coppers on the beat.

Even though the city council seems to hate skaters, the cops just
dont have the resources to police them. So there are places
like Victoria square where signs are up warning of $400 fine
for skaters in the square, but its's full of skaters.

This place has steps and rails for freestylers, and 3 looping
ramp sections where I practice carves and slides and experiment
with setups. A nice vibe.

Yes a little, the style was more cooler then.
Are there many longboarders in Norway?
In Sweden it´s growing more and more for each year.
Ride hard.

Jens,

As I remember, when I started to skate 1976 in Sweden it
was totaly forbidden to skate in Norway.
It was also forbidden even to own a skateboard.
But it´s more fun when it´s illegal.
So now we want to see you on the biggest illegal skate event in Scandinavia. 08 Downhill Classic.

Jens,
Why is skateboarding outlawed/illegal in ceratain places in the states? That's because a cops/police man's favorite wet dream is to be buried naked in a bed of jelly-filled and glazed doughnuts. Really though in the U.S. we've always seemed to have had this Jock/Redneck/Joe Citizen vs. Skater senario going on here. It also doesn't help that we as skaters trespass on private properties such swimming pools or public properties such as monuments or mar up store front benches. Society came before skateboarding and so there's gonna be conflict.Harrasment in certain close-minded locations just comes with the territory.I'm actually happy that you don't have to live in a state of skate related harassment. Ride on!

I decided to write something so you know that i am around.
I am from Hamburg, Germany and I have been visiting your site for quite some time. Everytime I need some new parts for my longboard I check out this site. You really helped me out when I needed to decide between different parts n stuff. Right now it is not quite the weather to ride in Hamburg but I hope it will be some time soon.

French only on public signs (private or not).
It's still a cool place to live, even it the political
situation sucks.(I'm not getting into it here.)
I'm still looking for some longboarders to session with.
Lots of short boards but haven't seen any longboarding though.
Don't be shy,in french or english , just drop me a line here.
