We are now making leather suites for downhill skaters. We are making suites for the mass, but are also providing customized suites for less money than other shops. See www.arcticboyz.com. Our suites are called "Jarngrímr", a name taken from the old scandinavian mythology. We have leathers in cowhide and buffalo, and most colors. We have been testing two prototypes and are now doing regular production.

Skatebboard Wrist Guards

There is a skate and snow wrist guard designed by a doctor to flex and absorb more of the shock of a fall. It's been tested for snowboarding and found to reduce snowboard wrist injury by 67 to 75%. Called Flexmeters.
Wentzle Ruml is wearing Flexmeters and helping put a team together. Flexmeters might need reinforcement on the palm if it's hitting a lot of pavement. There is also a Flexmeter Glove with wrist guard built in. Maybe it would be easier to modify and reinforce the glove for skating.
Contact me if I can answer your questions about Flexmeter. Lauren Flexmeters.com

I came across as site that specializes in a bunch of protective gear. I found them from their crashbus.com site and I couldn't believe they had so much gear for skate as well as every sport. If you haven't seen C.Y.A. Protective Gear you should them out...what a great name!!! So True. It's what needed after biting it this past weekend. Check out www.cyaprotectivegear.com which will link you to some fun crash videos as well.

Anyone know how many different skate specific shinguards are in existence? I'm really looking for a cheap set, long lasting provided I take good care of them, and either white or black, less logos and writing on it, the better.
Any ideas? Strap design is fine for these things.

Modified Wrist Gaurds

Hello everyone, I haven’t skateboarded for at least 10 years but I roller blade allot. I live in Calgary and the safety equipment her is quite limited. You can’t even buy padded shorts in the summer time. As an alternative to wrist guards I’ve seem some sliders. I might consider buying a pair. I might try wearing them under a pair of wrist guards. I have so far bought two pairs of wrist gauds within the last year. I’ve bought a kind that snowboarders tend to buy and I bought a pair from a skate boarding shop.
The snowboarding ones seemed to add more protection but the material wasn’t as good and got chewed up fast on the concrete. The skateboarding ones the metal bar that curves to absorb impact isn’t as big and if I land on my back it hurts my hand somewhat trying to absorb the blow. I think this is okay. My plan is to where a glove underneath it and sew some padding onto the palm. I also want to bend the bar on the top of the wrist guard up some to give me more flexibility. I may considering adding some padding on the back of my hand two to make up for some of the safety I may forgo by bending the bar back some.
I’m not sure where to get the materials though. Sewing stores don’t sell very strong thread. I don’t know if a shoe repair guy would sell it to me and if he did I don’t know if I’d have the tools to work with it. I’ve heard people mention glues. I don’t know much about glues. How strong and flexible are they and what materials do they work well with?

If your into downhill, you should consider the skatebrake for your longboard. The brake is inexpensive and gives you complete control of your downhill speed. It also lets you maintain an ideal speed for downhill carving. It's also nice to be able to stop if a car or another rider pulls out in front of you.
There is a sale on the brake right now for $79.00.
Call Rick for info. (760)518-1602

Pezer, just click the link on the left (the banner ad for PD) and then call Wild Bill at PD and ask him. I think they may still have the wrist guard deal going on, not sure about any deals on knee pads.

daNdAN: I found that really strong velcro works if you want to attach the pucks to your glove. go to home depot or even wal-mart if you can stand it and find some. just make sure your glove is completely clean and dry and it should work!

I used Shoe Go on my first gloves to glue the pads. But melting the pads with blow torch sticks much better. You can ask your local plumber for help, I bet he melts your pads for free. I will buy my next gloves, because I use gloves without fingers and the gravity gloves seem to have a good quality for just 20 $. Has anybode tried them?

Yes, it's too bad Harbinger discontinued their skate protective gear line. The 521s are nice, as well as their wrist guard gloves. We do have some 521s left, in Medium and Small sizes only. The page is here --> http://www.xsportsprotective.com/har2521.html
PDs are nice pads, too, if your budget allows. Some models are well below $100, so you still may want to check them out. We sell PDs, and of course Wild Bill sells directly, as well, in custom colors and sizes.

Cheaper Pads

(128.12.nnn.nnn)
I want to get a pair of knee pads but i honestly cant afford to spend more than a hundred bucks for some PDs. Does anyone have any suggestions on pads that are more in then 50-70ish range that are still good? Something like the Harbinger 321 or 521 are perfect but too bad they stopped producing those. Also, is it a good idea to wear wrist guards under my slide gloves or is that being redundant?
Thanks
