Jake,
I think you'll find a bunch of different opinons on wheels on this site. However, Bones Bombers (a sort of high durameter wheel), Road Riders, Kryptonics, and Power Paws get a lot of analysis here it seems. Some folks like harder wheels so they can slide 'em, and then others prefer the bigger, stickier ones that won't break loose during carves. I'm still searching for the best of both worlds, so let me know if you find them.

About cherry bombs, we use them in speed downhill, they are
really 80 mm, even if every body says they are 82 !
they are good wheels, but very expensive for the common rider
and they can touch the board because of their diameter.
I prefer recommend the 76 mm which is the same wheel with the same
hub and the same urethane, but cheaper and easier to put on your boards.
There also exist many good wheels to ride, it just depends on what you
want a wheel to be.Exk8 are not very comfortable,large and
a little bit slidy when the temperature is fresh,it's up to
you to choose....

Hi I am new to this forum and I would like to know what evryone thinks are the best (urethane) wheels?
FOR: crusing/carving? bombing hills? Is there a true classic wheel on the market? The XTs are hands down best for
offroad/rubber product i love them..
but if i have to go buy some proper urethane
i wanna know what im getting!

How big are the Cherry Bomb wheels? Some people say they were 86mm, some say they are 70mm.
Are they good for longboards although they are designed for luge?

XT's measure in at a bigass 114mm or something like that. They are awesome wheels. I don't know about kicking, since the only skateboard I've ever owned has had XT's since I got it a year and a half ago. Speaking of which, talk about durable. These things are still massive, haven't worn at all (well, a tiny bit, but still). They will not slide, but they cost to much to go sliding with.

The new sector 9 70mm 78a wheels are deffinatly the sickest wheels ive had in a while. They are very sticky and stay on the road due to no hub. I find that wheels with hub are much more ridged and cant handle fast speeds around corners. The reason they put a hub in the wheel (like the new Kryptos) or exposed (like Karma)is to distribute the heat throughout the wheel. But I have bombed hils at 40+ with these Wheels and no sign of meltage. So if you are thinking about purchasing new wheels the new Sectors are the sweetest.

The Cherry Bomb wheel is better than any 70 mm wheel. It does not make as many revolutions as a 70 mm at the same speed. Besides I've ridden Cherry Bombs on my luge at over 75 mph. I wouldn't even want tothink about doing that on a 70 mm Krypto. That would be very scary. I've seen too many Kryptos melt at that speed. Don't get me wrong Kryptos do have their place, just not on speedy downhills.

Yup. these are much faster than any 70mm CAN be. they are 82mm, 78a. they ARE heavy, so it take more energy to get them going, but then they keeeeep rolling. i like them alot.

What's the conventional wisdom on sliding/wheel dur./wheel base? I, at least, notice that the longer my wheelbase, the easier it is to get the wheels to break free. Is this what other people are experiencing?

Hi Guys
I appreciate all the info I've gotten from everyone on this board. I thought my wheels buying problems were over but they are not. I bought a two Randall luge trucks off a buddy of mine. They still had the wheels on them. Got the pair for 20 bucks so even if I just keep the trucks I still got a great bargain. Anyway he said the wheels were Satalites. I've never heard of them and would like to know where I could get some. i have some long boards and recreational luges that I would like to replace the scary Kryptos with Satalites. Kryptos scare me. Especially when I see them on a luge. I stay away from that guy going down the hill.
If anybody has info on where I can get them from (76mm size) Please let me know.

Not that sticky but controlled slides are a breeze. Good cruising wheel. Holds speed relatively long on flat (with china bones). The core is centered and it has a five star pattern, kinda like car rims so its lighter but somewhat noisy. Methinks they are 82a. Overall, I'll never buy another set.

Hi guys
I am in need of information on where to get Cherry Bomb, Labeda, Satalites and exkate wheels. I do have some long boards but mainly I am a luge rider. I can't find anyplace that sells these wheels except the Lugestore and they are way to expensive. I don't mind guys making a profit off of me, but ripping me off I can't stand it.
Anyway if you have info or wheels email me at kfellmy@netscape.net. Wheels sizes I need are from 76 mm to 100mm.

1) To me, a fade turn is similar to one of the types of bottom turns in surfing: it's not a hard grinding turn, but more of a slow lean. When cruising down a medium-steep hill, I like to let my board gain speed up to where I think I can slow it down with a fade to the left or right. This slows me down only a few miles an hour, allowing more control.
2) Admitedly, XT Slicks are hard to power slide. You really have to be going down a seriously steep hill, and it helps if it's rough cement or slightly damp. Release almost all of your weight off your right foot (unless you ride fakie) and lean way back. It also helps if your XTs are a bit worn down. When new, they grip almost anything - which is great. Bomb the hill and listen to rocks, bolts, acorns, pieces of scrap metal go *PING*!!

XT allterains are f@!*ing insane. I have them on my sector 9 super crusier and they go off. I can bomb bad arse hills, cruise the streets or go along dirt tracks. Trust me purchasing these wheels will forfill all of your longboarding disiers.

I bought the first available XT 8 balls in San Francisco last November. Take it from me, they are worth every penny. These wheels allow you to bomb, carve, fade and yes, even powerslide any hill, no matter the steepness, no matter the width. They are incredible.
I skate the hills of San Francisco, rough pavement and steep-ass blind turn hills. I haven't had one major wipeout yet. And I skate with 16 year old kids who are riding regular wheels with their longboards...but guess who gets down the hill fastest? I do, cause while they must slide to slow down on a steep incline, I just do a fade turn that lets me control my speed. Plus, I can escape cars by exiting to the sidewalks. Then I rip the sidewalks by doing mogul style snowboarding style turns.
I ride a Phat crize board and use Randal IIs. The price is steep for these wheels, but if you truly want to control-bomb and not just crazy out of control bomb, then you might want to make the purchase. <>
