Just saw some posts on the lion city. i grew up there alomst all my young life. As far as hills to bomb, we hit Pan Island Expressway behind Watten Estate (and the main road there going to Greenmead rocked!!) and Farrer Hill (sp?). What is the scene like there now? You can read up on "Radlands Singapore '75-79" on our website at www.streetrecords.com, or click on the "2002 World Longboard Slalom Championships" text link on the "links" page here. Awas!!

If someone wants to stage a slalom contest in Tokyo and is willing to out up airmiles for USA contestants to attend I'm sure you could get a good field of people to complete.
A cool sponsor would be the indoor skiing facility

I'm in Park City, Utah snowboarding at the moment. I'll be in San Francisco and hopefully Catalina. Mainly I'm based in Manly, Sydney. When they close the main road for triathalons, or the wine and food festival would be a graet time to hold a dual. cheers Paul

If you have a slalom contest over in Aus, get in touch with Paul Price and Martin Pavey, ex UK riders. They will be up for it I'm sure. Paul Price will be at Catalina and they postt on various boards on this site.

Nifotc about the rides and slalom i dont have a slalom setup just carve/bomb,n boards and the course will have cans, rocks, chip packets with rocks etc as cones, nothing pro here yet but the hill is good.Do you have any friends who are into it as numbers are low at this stage. The slalom would be at manly and the speed runs will be up at terry hills where there is some unreal runs some with full run off others you need to slide to stop.So drop me a line if your keen and we can organise a bit of a ride day and hopefully get a few races going in the future. I live in Melbourne Australia and needed to update my equipment. I spent ages trying to find someone that had stock, variety, or was willing to help. Eventually ordered a Powell Surf One, "Speed Drop" and set of Powell "Maverick" wheels 65mm 80a from PSC in Swanston str. My old Indys were to long in the base plate so I drilled new holes on the inner ends. The boards ok, but seems a bit stiff for a slalomy type thingy. I am considering the " Blue Metal" board because it looks like it has a decent kick and nose; good for nocomply to five-o. Does anyone else do tricks on big planks or do they just carve. I like to carve really fast down big hills. Longboarding rocks!

If i could organise a race day would anyone be interested in going.I have a venue for slalom and one for bombing. There would be crappy prizes for 1st like a deck and others would be beer ect.At this stage i am just fishing for numbers but longboarding in sydney is pretty much at the stage of just cruising looking cool. Not many if any know how to slide to stop ,which should be the 1st thing you learn.I was in a shop the other day and was talking to a guy who said he teaches people how to longboard and reckons once you get over running pace you pretty much stuffed and are going to have to jump off. With ride /race days people can get educated on these methods of stoping and open up a whole new world of riding for themselves other than just acting cool on the thing. So if there are anyone out there who wants to have a dig and fun give me a call or email me on the above link. Actually Matt- I'm just looking for an excuse to travel to the far east. Sight seeing isn't enough motivation. Put together a contest and I would come and race. I've got enough frequent flyer miles at the moment.
