Allawah Saturday 11am session is on.
How about we try some dual lane action? i know it's windy but we could try a crossover... rough times on the stopwatch would tell us whether the lanes are comparable. then we can run a little outlaw for kicks. dual elimination??

haggy,
i will pass it on to paul, thanks - he is into it big time - running cones at night and just amazing setups for old school
he is an amazing rider as well (i guess that could have something to do with it boyd)
he is going to riverwood this weekend for the sos bowl jam i think and maybe some slalom?
we have a couple of roads but nothing without cars that i know of that is smooth, if i find something i will let you know

billy cart hills - bike tracks
On 9/12/2005 haggy wrote in from Australia  (203.45.nnn.nnn)

It would be good to find some new places to slalom in the sydney area. preferably a good hill with no cars, like a billy cart run or a bike track. i know they are out there, i've checked some of them out. some are better than others, but still have not found a rad hill that's smooth enough to run cones on....

let's keep our eyes out for them!

doesn't sound like i missed too much yesterday, wind is a bitch...

Thursday evening P5 session sounds good. Can do Saturday as well, or either one. maybe we should hit Allawah on Sat? It's fun to ride a bit of a hill...

boyd, tell paul carey to call me 0417 499 404 and i'll let him know for sure when we get together to run cones.

In other news, looks like a Trakmate timing systemis in the pipeline, yay!

Sydney Sydney Sydney
On 9/11/2005 Bugs wrote in from Australia  (203.12.nnn.nnn)

Kool, a race weekend - slalom on the Saturday, speedboard on the Sunday.

P5 was way too windy yesterday – it was almost as fast running the course uphill (with the wind) than downhill (against the wind). We switched to a carpark of a nearby office building, but the slope was a bit too gentle, and the wind still caused a few problems.

Checked out a massive, but deserted multistory carpark at the Olympic stadium. It’s got looong, curved, smooth ramps and slick polished concrete on the flat sections, but there’re metal expansion joints at the start of each ramp that would be a bit of an obstacle. Still, it looks promising for something.

A few weeks ago I saw a carpark about 200 metres south of Gordon station, right alongside the train line. It was deserted on a Sunday, and looked to be a similar width and pitch to P5, but maybe even a bit steeper. I didn’t get a good look at the surface (I was on a train), but it looked smooth from a distance. If anybody’s up that way, check it out and report back.

Slalom session at P5 on Thursday night? Either that or Saturday morning would suit me.

Cool. so on the SAT we can dig some SLALOM action and on Sun we speedboard. It could be a dynamite format, but if anyone has a prob with it please let me know ASAP. I was hoping to kinda get updates from someone about the slalom thing (I been locked on the pc for 3 weeks strait buildin the store site), and if it isn't posted on the oldskool board I probably wont see it for a little while. Someone involved in the SLALOM thing PLEASE email me or call me or somethin so we can discuss WTF is goin on and start hypin this weekend right up.

helmet and hotspots
On 9/9/2005 Eric wrote in from Australia  (129.78.nnn.nnn)

I've just got a few sets of white 80a Avalons. I didn't really know what the demand would be so I didn't bring a whole lot.

I'm sure I can find a helmet to buy if need be. I was kind of hoping to borrow, because for 3 weeks or so in December before I go back to the states I'm going to be backpacking, so I don't want extra stuff to carry or mail back home. Wait til you see the deck I'm riding - it's designed to be a throw-away. I'll probably have an Indy offset and a few other misc parts up for sale before I leave (but after the comp on Dec. 3).

About the HotSpots, I saw the prototypes for those and you're exactly right, the design is based on a slightly trimmed avalon. I think they should be a great wheel.

Cool. I will find my way there on Sunday. Does anybody happen to have an extra helmet I could borrow? Mine is back in the states...I did manage to bring along a few new sets of 3dm Avalons - I could trade a set for a Brain Bucket.

I'd be up for some slalom on Sunday. I have no idea where anything is, so it would be cool if somebody could email me some detailed directions. I don't have a car, so suggestions on the best way to get to slalom spots would be appreciated as well. I'm staying in Camperdown.

Sounds good Scott. I've got some things to do in the arvo, so a bit earlier would suit me better - say 10.30?

I've been thinking about course setting since our last session - got some ideas i want to try out.
