I recently purchased a Sector 9 Hydra deck, complete with gullwing sidewinder 2 trucks and ‘Ghost / 75a’ 69mm x 53mm Nineball Slalom Wheels. This is my first long board or carve board purchase, so just wondering if anyone could recomend any great slalom runs around the zone between like Manly, Ryde and the city, so basically around Norht Sydney area. peace out

hello all, i just bought a longboard after years of inactivity and i forgot how killer it is. I been doing it every moment i have spare time was wondering where theres some really good smooth wide runs, and variations like STORM and DRAINPIPES with surf wave like set ups and carparks that connect for ages with constant runway ramps and ramps. Any info appreciated, Thanks.

Sunday 14 May, Midday
And a new location, scouted out by Groundhangers. It's at Pemulway (near Blacktown) and the name of the street is "Butu Wargun Drive", near the corner of Reconciliation Road. It's an access road for an industrial park - perfectly smooth surface, nice and wide, a dead-end, and should be almost totally traffic-free on a Sunday.
The hill is a bit steeper than Allawah, but not scary-steep. Hopefully it'll be similar to the hill at Bangalow.
Here's the map:

Proudly presenting.... the CHURCH OF SLALOM!
Yes, that's right folks - it's time for another Allawah Slalom Jam!! Archbishop Bugs and Reverend Haggy will set an exalted course that will challenge your beliefs and test your spiritual mettle. Of course, timing system will be in force to measure your performance against the evils of temptation presented by tricky cones, spectatorial distractions, and fellow four-wheeled believers!
So bring your friends and come on down to partake in some of the finest and fastest gospel on four wheels around!! Guaranteed to revive your soul!!

MARTIN P. I hope you see/read this. I'm a skater from the late 70s early 80s and often skated with Steve and Brian Kellner in Brighton along with Mark Baker etc. I got back in touch with them after a mutual friend of ours was at a gig of theirs in Bexhill. Steve and Brian just got back to the UK after a few months in Oz, apparently they bumped into you there!! How weird is that. I looked up your photo on the British skateboard museum site. I'm affraid I can't remember you, but then I was crap at slalom. Having said that I did win a small shield in Hailsham for a slalom competition in 1978 and got in the local paper, I still have the photo from the day:) It was for the under 16 group but I was 18 :( Back then I skated at Skatopia, the Barn, The Cage, Romford and Guildford. Once my friends and I went to a really rad park in Paris where Jeremy Henderson turned up one day and broke his arm within 5 mins! I started skating again last year so I can teach my 10 yr old son. I bought a really nice Sector 9 flexy longboard off ebay with big green abec wheels and Biltin bearings, it's great. I also bought an original old Alva deck with Trackers and red 65mm Krips. I've even learn't to Olly. I guess it's in the blood isn't it:) All the best AL

Good to hear you are still riding man! A trashed board just means you aren't afraid to push the limits a bit, right on!
Here in oz all is well, just having a ball skating a lot - slalom and parks. the slalom nationals are in a month so that will be awesome, a whole bunch of people are going up for that.
Good to hear the weather is warming up in Deutschland - dunno if i can go back to winter now, haha. although it does mean you can snowboard, yah!
take it easy boss

Hey shredder, good to hear from you man. Bummer about the board man! Im working on a speedboard at the moment but I'm trying to keep hush hush about the layup. It does have about 40% balsa in it though. Very light, and very long. Ill put some pics up when its done. Skate hard man, summers coming around your way now. Cya

Get your name registered on the www.gravitystunts.com website so we can get this thing goin.Theres gonna be a rego fee of course but thats to pay for overheads. This will be a legal event on the 21st May (frikken soon). Last years turnout was awesome and this year should be even better with more sydney folk keen to race. the sooner we show roughly how many people are interested the more likely it will run smoothly (fingers crossed).

Some good racing on Saturday. Fun to see Haggy battle it out with Paul, and to see some new faces get their slalom legs (faces getting legs?). The head-to-head aspect of things was a blast.
Here are the final results, with the person's best qualifying time. Paul had the fastest time of the day but couldn't beat Haggy in the elimination rounds:
1. Haggy Strom 14.13 2. Paul Price 13.81 3. Colin Beck 16.30 4. Scott Tansley 16.75 5. Bra Pete 17.30 6. Greg Groundhangers 17.47 7. Jamie Greentree 18.10 8. Danny Van 18.19 9. James 22.00 10. Tim 22.31
On to Allawah this Sunday...

What a great weekend of skating!!
The P5 Slalom Jam went well. Bugs set a fast course with some tricky offsets towards the end, then set the second identical course so we could run head-to-head. He also figured out the speaker system to bust out the start signals, nice work Bugs!
We ran a jam format for a while, with people trying different boards and posting times. It was really great to see the vert and bowl rippers out for the afternoon - Greg, Danny, Jamie, you guys rock! In no time they were hauling ass through the course. Just wait till we set a tight slalom course!!! Also in attendance were James and Tim, newcomers to the sport who were riding well, but had to leave before the elimination rounds. Of course, out from the UK for a couple of weeks getting a tan was Mr Slalom himself - Paul Price, in addition to the one and only Scooter, who is getting faster every time. And last but not least - Bra Pete ripping it up. As already mentioned - there is a racing rivalry building up between Scooter and Pete. While Scooter eked out on top this time, Pete was ahead at the Allawah slalom jam in november...
The carveboard guys Dave, Tim, and Negsy (?) were putting their boards through the course no probs, pretty surfy set ups, ey??
The elimination rounds were stellar, with some real tight racing between everyone. I love seeing rivalries and we are developing some good ones now.
Also - thanks to my man Johan for coming out and helping with the conecounts. it's a bitch of a job but somebody's gotta do it...
A monthly fun slalom jam race is a good idea. We'll see how we develop on that front. In the meantime, Next sunday we are having a ride at Allawah. Single-lane racing with timing system in place - it's gonna be fun!
Peace out!
