L-H-O, Three mile isn't even our longest ditch.... Ventura runs at least 4.5 miles. Downhill. Butter.
C'mon over.

Dia DeLa Arroyo contest - Top of 3 Mile ditch - 5 Nov 05
Placing 1. Jeff Budro (Sector 9) 2. John West (Embudo) 3. LBR (Conspiracy) 4. Abe Towrey (Conspiracy) 5. Ryan EP (Conspiracy) 6. Star (10 yr old ripper from Skateschool) 7. Pat McDougal 8. Ryan Ricker 9. Mike Lowie (Skate Bar) 10.Charlie Pacheco (Alva)
Equal 11th CW Dunn (Skate Bar) Malcolm Hecht Zach James West (VD) Will Brunson (Pocket Pistols) G I Joe (Timeship Racing) Jeff Ramos (Z) Izzy Tom Morrison Tony Perez Sam Hubble Levi Faust Glenn Jefferies
Best Trick $100 - Abe Towrey F/S Rock on the gigantor wall-ride extension.
Great fun was had by all. Perfect weather, no cops and an excellent course complete with parking blocks, jump ramps and extensions.
Everybody ripped. The winners showed a mix of tech and gnarliness, as well as old and new school and consistency.
The contest ran in a jam format, 11 riders per heat, with the top 3 advancing. The final heat was a super jam deciding the final 6 spots.
Abe Towrey, Jeff Budro and John West advanced out of the hotly contested first heat, just edging out G.I. Joe, CW Dunn and a stylishly charging Charlie Pacheco. Heat 2 showed some masterful contest riding by EP, LBR and this young ripper named Star. A lot of the contestants petered out on the bottom of the 200 yard-long course. These guys ripped the ENTIRE course. These guys had what it took to push Brunson, Lowrie and Pat MacDougal out of the finals.
The finals were an endurance test. As the contestants finished one run they would sprint back to the top of the course just in time start their next. Abe was going huge but got bit by a few too many falls. Budro reached into his bag of tricks and threw down Judos, Saran Wraps and Boned-out Airs off the jump ramps and combined them with slides, r&rs and G-turns. John West has been skating thse blocks as long as anybody and did not disappoint with 4 block rock n rolls and disasters and a fakie tail slide at speed on the lower section blocks that went at least 20 feet. LBR showed contest experience, staying on and using the whole course for his new/old banked freestyle routine.
After Heat 3 concluded, a short break was taken and then the Best Trick Started. After blowing everyone out with a F/S RnR Abe was trying to launch off the jump ramp to to 50/50 on the top of the 4 foot wallride extension, after a few painful slams he realized is wasn't gonna happen. He wasn't challenged by much more other than PALMER coming close to a feeble to fakie on the extension or Rockys miller flip attempts.
Conspiracy, Sector 9 and Z kicked down mad schwag and everyone walked away with some goodies. Event host Tim Mott came up with some of the most original trophies ever.
The BBQ and pool session later at PALMERs egg was all time.
Thanks to all who came out and supported us.
See you next year......

It's a pretty good bet that the winner of the 3-mile event will need to do more than bonelesses and Berts.
I heard the Indian School Marshall may even break out the ever-obscure "astair air" and f#@! you guys all up.....

Thanks Palmer for your earnest input, I look forward to dazzling you as a ditch judge since I'm unable to impress you as pool skater. You know I love giving you all that $$$, but I relish when Will and I beat you at you own event(Carmel). See you on Sat, Show up with your score card in one hand and a PBR in the other. The frontside Boneless hard on you'll go home with could be you own.

DAMN GI JOE IM GLAD TO SEE YOUR HARD ON FOR ME IS AS BIG AS EVER. DID I BEAT YOU AT TOO MANY OF YOUR OWN CONTESTS? TAKE TOO MUCH OF YOUR MONEY? IS IT BECAUSE I CALL YOU OUT FOR KEEPING PRIZES THAT SHOULD GO TO THE RIDERS? GBMII AND I HAD A GOOD LAUGH THE OTHER NIGHT AFTER YOU TALKED TO HIM. HE SAID THE FIRST THING OUT OF YOUR MOUTH WAS "YOU KNOW PALMER HAS NO CHANCE OF WINNING THIS". KEEP THE HARD ON RAGING JOE AND MAYBE YOUR SKATEBOARDING WILL FOLLOW BUT I DOUBT IT.
CXPX IT WILL BE GOOD TO HAVE YOU IN TOWN BROTHER. ITS BEEN A WHILE! K-LEE KNEE OR NO KNEE YOU BETTER COME DOWN AND GET YOUR SKATE ON. SEE YOU ALL ON SATURDAY BOYS AND BITCHES(JOE)

You are certainly old enough to win, if you can still throw down some of your patented old school style! I just hope that the judges know what they're looking at.....a legend! CP in Burque!
I'll be there to throw in some Berts, Boneless Ones and Bones Brigade varials to spice it up. The TimeShip Juniors will ROCK the ALL School style and I will put my money some 40 plus type to win...LBR or Me or ....James West.
Palmer should be a judge since he can't do a Bert or a Boneless. Ditch style was pioneered in Abq since 1976. It started at the Bear and we'll continue it at 3 Mile.

Just wanted to drop a line and remind all in or around Houston that on November 12th starting at noon the best local and hopefully visiting talet will be competing at the EZ7 ditch and skate park. The park is located in the Watonga Park, near the intersection of 43rd and Watonga. It is being sponsered by The Surfhouse and there will be lots of goodies there. Would'nt be suprised to see sponsers there.
See Ya'll there
