Just kidding. But that was too easy a dig to make.

Ditches are great, Ditches are fun, They should be skated by everyone*. Why should anyone care that we took the dare? Why should it matter if I caused my own brain to splatter? I make my own choices and so should you. So go skate a ditch and if a cop should stop you. Run like hell and yell "f#@! YOU!" *(by everyone I mean anyone who has the nuts, skills and determination to jump the fences and move pass the tresspassing signs and go for it, I think it said in the Bible some where the Meek shall inherit the earth, so keep quiet about your spots and maybe one day you'll get to tear that fence down and even if not as long as you keepy mouthy shutty, you'll get it all to yourself, or at least the people it means the most too)

Everyone needs to support Silver Board Shop!!! Those are good people and next time I'm in ABQ I will patronize their establishment.
Nicole, you made a mistake, everyone makes them. I've slipped and said the wrong thing in front of the wrong person before and that person got the pool blown out. Downplay, ignore, play stupid, change the subject, do anything but give them the scoop, lesson learned.

I feel for all the regular ditch skaters - never tell you secrets!!!!!
Simple solution - stop shopping and supporting the Silver Board Shop and they will learn how to preseve the important things in life
Hopefully, they are still skateable when this northern has a chance to get there

Lost skate spots

It seems to me these younger crowd has not lost any fine skate spots due to the lack of stealth. In my small town (Spokane, WA) there is one pool and 2 "cement ponds" that are completly filled with dirt, this was due to too nmany skaters invading these skate spots.
Last fall I wrote to the webmaster of a website and asked him to remove detailed directions on how to trespass on private property to access Maryhill. This has been the Ratz access point for 6 years. Because of these directions and more skaters tresspassing, the land owner has threatened skaters with a gun and we are now forced to walk the hill.
All it takes is one disgruntled citzen (in a town north of Seattle a 15 year old was severely injured bombing a hill and his Dad made it on a radio talk show to try and BAN longboards) to start raising hell for the cops to take more direct actioin. I was planning on getting my Indian School cherry popped this Sept. I hope I do not have to explain anything to the cops.
The general public does not like what we do and will find any excuse to keep us down.

So, Brendon says “we get the cops called on us just about every day, we get tickets, and a friend of mine got thrown in jail even for skateboarding. This sort of thing happens ALL the time. Our spots are skate stopped and we are forced to keep spot hunting”.
Dickless, I mean Wangless, says “All in all it is about the search”.
What a couple of f#@!ing idiots. It sounds like they are saying that having your spot busted and closed down is part of the fun?!!? I love discovering a new spot too, but that doesn’t mean I like losing it.
Dickless also says “so go ahead and deny your a ditch skater and join the rest of the long line or proud pussies who lie their way through life”. Sorry dude, but lying to cops is something I have been doing probably since before you were born. While I am actually an extremely honest person, that is one exception I am willing to make.
I think the one who wins is the one who keeps his mouth shut and gets away with (whatever he may be doing) the longest (hopefully forever). Not the one who brags about it and gets shut down. I’ll be happy not to share any spots with you.

SHUT THE f#@! UP, YOU SOUND LIKE A MORON. PEOPLE DIE EVERY YEAR PLAYING IN THE DITCHES IN AND AROUND ALBUQUERQUE. THE MAN WANTS TO KEEP PEOPLE OUT FOR GOOD REASON. PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE IN THEM. WE IGNORE THE WARNINGS AND THATS OUR DECISION. THE ONLY REASON TO GLORIFY THAT IN THE LOCAL PAPER IS TO SELL BOARDS AND IM NOT DOWN WITH THAT s#@!. IT WAS A SELF SERVING NEWS STORY AND DOES NOTHING BUT HARM TO THE SCENE THAT WE(INCLUDING NICOLE) HAVE SHED ALOT OF BLOOD AND TEARS TO CREATE. FOR YOU TO HIDE(NOT POST YOUR REAL NAME) AND CALL US PUSSIES? SHOW UP AT A SESSION AT THE DITCH AND START CALLING PEOPLE PUSSIES, YOU WILL SWALLOW YOUR TEETH!

Listen, I have skated the great ditches of Alb. I have also skated a million other spots, some have been skated many times before me others maybe never. All in all it is about the search. Half of my enjoyment of skating comes from finding the spot, that spot that makes your day or even your life. Alb. is the mecca for ditch skating and rightfully so, but remember you are all skaters and you know what comes with skateboarding, we have all been hassled by the cops, we have all been kicked off property, we have all seen one of our favorite spots go to s#@!. The point is we have all been there before and will be there again, but you know what we keep skating. Why? Because we aren't F'n pansies, so quit yer bitchin' and go F'n skate. If your so scared someone might F up your spot then go skate the S*&t out of it before they do or better yet, why don't you stand up off yer ass and say something instead of cowering. You know who denies what they do, dirty ass politicians, so go ahead and deny your a ditch skater and join the rest of the long line or proud pussies who lie their way through life. Thanks for listening now go skate!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOO

"This sort of thing happens ALL the time." Yer right - s#@! gets blown out all the time! Why? It ain't the skaters! It's the kooks! How long did it take for Elks to get bulldozed after it was in the paper?
"Our spots are skate stopped and we are forced to keep spot hunting." I don't give a s#@! what happens at other spots and towns. These ditches are one of a kind. Hunt all you want - you won't find another Indian School. Or 3-mile for that matter...
"Now if you think the city is gonna spend all sorts of money just to keep existing ditches unskatable is just ridiculous..." I'm not worried about skate stoppers and all the other s#@! they use to prevent street skaters from grinding ledges. I'm worried about a cop with a grudge that is gonna think twice when he sees a few of us cruising down one of or favorite ditches.
"they all know we skate the ditches...believe it or not you guys are not underground" No one is claiming to be underground. We are suggesting that we follow the protocol of don't ask - don't tell. Miller said it fine, just deny it. An certainly don't go on the front page of the newspaper and rub it in the faces of the city - especially during monsoon season when they are fully paranoid about morons in the ditches.
Just my opinion. But I've been riding these ditches for 13 years. Maybe we should seek the opinions of the REAL locals.....

hey guys...you need to chill and give nicole a break. First off, you guys act like the city is gonna demolish every ditch right off the bat because of a single newspaper article. Now if you think the city cares THAT much then i think you are misinformed. The article even stated that skateboarding was prohibited but that skaters are just asked to leave at the worst. Now let me give you a street skater's perspective...we get the cops called on us just about every day, we get tickets, and a friend of mine got thrown in jail even for skateboarding. This sort of thing happens ALL the time. Our spots are skate stopped and we are forced to keep spot hunting. Now if you think the city is gonna spend all sorts of money just to keep existing ditches unskatable is just ridiculous...they all know we skate the ditches...believe it or not you guys are not underground especially in ABQ so i think you all need to cut Nicole some slack and stop bitching

Nicole, I understand that they came to you. You didn't write the article, I don't think anyone's blaming you, but I am surprised that you sound so stoked that the article is there, and on the front page no less. By the way, thank you for not taking them on a tour.
Here's what we get in Rio Rancho. The city builds ditches and when the concrete is still wet, they lay 1 x 4 boards down about every 15 feet or so. When it's dry they pull the boards up and we are left with 4" gaps that are 1" deep. Their latest ditch in the Cabazon' area is a beautiful ditch with nice "S" turns, nice pitch, etc... The only thing is that the concrete texture is so rough it looks like bad dirt. When I first saw it, I thought it had been dug out then it rained before they could concrete it. Totally un-skatable.
I would just hate for Albuquerque to start doing the same types of things.
Stealth is good.
