Gents;;
The course is marked in purple triangles. Be prepared to turn.
There are 5 sets of cones in the course that are called "wallrides". They are below the footbridge. They are two cones set anywhere from 75 feet to 10 feet apart on the same wall. The racer must make it over both cones. They are marked with an arrow after the first cone.
If you make it out before practice starts on Friday morning at 07:00 :), make sure you take those cones into account. They are not obvious until you look for them. They start on the left wall (south) after the second culvert past the foot bridge. They end on the left wall right before the bridge at Chelwood Park bridge.
Yes - I know that is 3 set on the south wall and 2 sets on the north; I don't know if this helps or hurts goofies or regulars. It is the course, deal with it.
The last cone before the Tramway bridge is deeper than usual. Welcome to kink land.
The first cone after the foot bridge is closer than usual to the bridge. Welcome to Mohawk land if you come up too soon.
See you on raceday if not sooner. It is on Boyz.

We made a little video today at Rio Bravo. I think it's pretty unique because you get to see the skater (me) from the front. Most all of the ditch videos I've seen have been from the back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH7Bh_Cyd6c

What is the typical/recommended setup (WB, trucks, wedge/degrees...) for Indian school? I'm guessing I do not want to run my GS Axe III w/ Radikal-F/Splits-R.
How bout my Landy Drop Wedge?
If not this year the Indian School Jam is on my bucket list :)

If anyone wants to get stoked up for the Indian School race or ditchslap, I have pumped out a few more DVDs from the 2006 race. POV shots of the whole ditch. Mitchell, Hackett, Fadell and others. Some footage of Palmer's Pool and Rio Bravo but mostly Indian School.
Email me if you want one. $15. No packaging. Just the DVD.

CROSSLANDS IS OUR HOME BASE (505) 343-1100 (extended stay) is offering a rate of $45 per night if you stay a week. They have kitchenettes and are OK with people rolling out sleeping bags on the floor, this could make it very affordable for your crew to stay or split the week with other racers coming in for only a few days. Ask for your room on the SOUTH side of the building. Ditch is out front.
Studio 6 (505) 344-7744 (extended stay) $44 per night if you stay for a week. Ditch is out back.
La Quinta North (505) 821-9000 $68 per night.
Hampton Inn (505) 344-1555 $77 per night.
Country Inn Suites (505) 823-1300 $69 per night.
Howard Johnson Express North (505) 828-1600 $65 per night
Quality Suites (505) 797-0850 $72 per night.
Ditch Slap Shuttles will depart each morning to visit different breakfast places that specialize in New Mexican Cuisine (read CHILE!). You can also get regular old hot cakes etc. for the timid, then we're off to the days riding all fueled up and ready to roll.
Words of wisdom from the Marshall. REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A DITCH RACE!!! This is not a Sunday afternoon at a local slalom hill. This is closer to barging a pool than it is to racing. The ditch will be dirty and it may be wet. We will run the race in the condition that the ditch presents itself. We will try to make it as clean as possible. There are nasty hazards in the ditch that will strike you down hard. Skate defensively. Skating in Albuquerque ditches is illegal and you could be arrested for doing it. There are no givens, we are at the mercy of the neighbors, cops and open space rangers. Pay attention to everything that the locals tell you. Large soft wheels and grade 8 kingpins are highly recommended. See you on race day, The Indian School Marshall.

The 5th annual Indian School Outlaw is in effect; 18-20 April. 3 races - loads of fun.
Those who know, step on up. Those who don't and want to be a part of this ongoing grudge match c'mon out for The Qualifier and throw your hat in the ring. I'll get a sign up sheet put together for the The Qualifier shortly. Ask anyone who attended last year (except Lynn) and they'll tell you this race is a blast.
Here's what were gonna do;
1. An elite level invite-only high-speed downhill banked slalom race on Friday morning for big money and the title. This race is on Friday. This race features 20 racers and 5 alternates. The top ten racers will be awarded a spot in next years invitational. (Cash down to tenth place and schwag for all racers)
2. The Qualifier. A 40 entry race on Saturday. Anyone who can pay the entry fee and wear a helmet can enter this race and run with the big dogs that are competing for the final 10 slots for next years invite only race.
3. A Death Race at Alamosa Skatepark. This skatepark is one of the finest on the planet. Three perfectly sculpted bowls from 8 to 13 feet are meshed together with a flawless half to ¾ pipe. Over-vert pockets and granite coping complete the scene and set the table for one of the most extreme park races ever.
Racers who have earned an invite; Will Brunson Ken Mollica Jason Mitchell Palmer Jim Z Billy Greene Andrew Mercado Greg Faddell Chris Miller James West John Huey David Angelus Joe McLaren Ryan Smith Kelly Lynn Cody Raver Ryan Ricker Cabbage Dennis Manougian Todd Oles
If you think you can take any of these racers down in a rowdy downhill big-wall banked slalom course then come on out and do it! Everyone is welcome in The Qualifier and the Death Race.
Alternates and sponsors exemptions are being sent via e-mail.
More details to follow....

Ditch Slap will be held from May 1st to May 4th 2008. The Indian School Invitational and Ditch Slap '08 will NOT be held in conjunction with each other for many reasons. The few "Elite" Indian School invitees and their race organizers need to FOCUS with minimal distraction to be able to pull off their race successfully, in one shot.
Ditch Slap on the other hand will last at least 4 days, be very diverse with venues all over Albuquqerque, including 3 Banked Slalom races, the Chinese Ditch race, a Crosstown race, suprise races and jams and endless shuttles provided for all participants. Basically one GIANT distraction for the masses!!
Details will be posted soon on the Contest Calendar

Female Daggers After all of the self proclaimed, hard, bad ass edge skateboard gangs out there like the Daggers, why can’t a female one of similarity pop out of the woodwork? Similar, hard core Hessian/punk gear, s#@!ty set ups, matching patches, matching pink Dagger tattoos, a bro down attitude, and violent behaviors would all be too sweet for this agro women skate gang. You come to their turf and snake them, you’re going to have a dirty style fight on your hands. People will want to watch out if the Female Daggers are around. These girls can be running wild all of the time. The only music playing in their car from backyard ramp to backyard ramp is straight punk. As loud as their systems can play it. No regard for the law whatsoever. These bitches could be dirt poor and f#@! any radical skater or punk rocker that walks the planet. Just drunk as hell and ready to skate or f#@! at any given moment. Vomiting during a blowjob would be no freak incident for a Female Dagger. This gang could be complete nomads roaming from session to session and party to party. Crashing all of them of course. Rutland, Ohio’s Skatopia could be their main base. When they’re not their partying you could find them drunk and dirty as hell, pussies smelling like rotten cod, barely getting their back truck on the coping of every bowl in their path for that essential front side slash grind. How f#@!ing sweet would that be? A blood in, blood out pact. If you want to get out of the gang you better watch your f#@!ing back. Any style other than a gross one would be unacceptable. Skate gross or die. It’s going to have to be that if you want to roll with the Female Daggers. And since everyone knows to be cool you have to deny your coolness. The perfect name for them can be NSCG. The Not So Cool Gals.
