Rene-Forgot...I don't know about that movie. The only one that comes to mind is 'Strapped' but I'm not sure if that's it or not. Go by the VAS booth at ASR and ask them if they've heard of it.

Alright...you guys really don't have anything better to do, do you. : )
Hamm-I'd choose the TTC, no set screws to worry about backing out. Moved to the Bay in August...to get my Masters and get away from SLO for a while. I'm not in school but am working in marketing which was sort of what I was going to get my Masters in. Learning lots of the same skills at work without grades and tuition.
Clayton-Arab would be correct on that one!
Rene-Nope, I'm not working for VAS anymore. I may still be able to make it to the show one day however since I'll be down for the Deathbox Expression Session...we'll see if time allows. I'm hoping to get a practice session in while I'm down your way with the toughest team on the FCR Circuit.
Hack-1.)I don't know, I think I may start wearing black leather soon to help cut down on wind drag and so I can look cool while slaloming becuase everyone knows slalom skateboarding is for KOOKS.2.)Racers with big bellys DO have a gravity advantage. I've been hard at work trying to make mine grow for next season..3.)NoWhere
Brady-Get mountain bike, start riding short distances at first then work up to longer and longer distances. Since you live in Florida, you might want to look for a ten speed with wide tires! No really though, riding a bike will buld up your legs which will propel you faster on your slalom board.

Off the top of my head, I'd say the racer in question started at the South Pole, but how could he skate one mile south from THERE? Perhaps it was the Bermuda Triangle?

HACKETT - BLACK LEATHER RACING
wrote in from
(68.70.nnn.nnn)
Hey Mike!
Three quick ones...
1) Why don't all racers wear BLACK LEATHER? 2) Do racers with BIG BELLYS have an advantage?
3) A race course was set up somewhere in the world- The racer, took off out of the gate, and raced one mile South, one mile East, and one mile West. He ended up at the starting gate! Where is that somewhere?

Henry-that's a good one. I've never done that myself. Can't bring myself to even try it. Paul Dunn however has been known to do this as well as Gary Cross. I've never tried it, but if Richy suggested it, Gary and Paul do it...there must be something there. I would put the softer one on your toe side since you don't get as much pressure on your toe and your heel...at least I don't. I can slam my heel, I can only push my toe. Try it both ways and let us know how it turns out.

Hey Mike,
What are the advantages of a mohawk versus shaved clean or a full head of hair? Does it help if you do this to other parts of your body? Does it help your pump?
Glad you are here - we need real discussion, not that crap on the othr forum. You da man! Come down and skate with me in the Santa Cruz Mtns. You can see what the "fat man" needs to do to race like a pro. Stay Crazy!

Mike-
When I went out to WLAC I had my ICK mounted up with 85 avalons in front and 80a in back. Ritchy Carrasco told me to mount my wheels asymetrically- so now i am running 80a front left (heelside) 85a front right, and the opposite in back. i'm still unsure what the advantage to setting up wheels this way would be. Any thoughts?

David---
Howzit? I wanted a way for people to ask questions away from the slalom board. I suggested it, we'll see how it goes.
Yeah, I tried those rubber wheels...I put them on one of my slalom boards. I think they might be a really good training tool for slalom since they are so slow and require an extra pump to keep them going. My knee almost doesn't hurt at all anymore.
How does one win the World Championships huh? Since I didn't win, I don't really know...but if I had to guess I would say... Do go fast, Do get out of the gate and down the ramp first and DON'T hit any cones and one more thing, practice harder courses than you are likely to see in races and don't hit any cones. Did I mention don't hit any cones. And in the famous words of Gary Cross, "Lean left to go left."

To my mind is a very good idea to have a place for Q&A. In Germany there are many young newcomers and to my mind there are a lot of questions.
Thank you very much, again for your kind help ! Joe http://www.SlalomEuroRacin.com
