surrender
On 7/15/2005 Matt wrote in from European Union  (86.131.nnn.nnn)

You may find this little video clip useful in getting your head around surrenders. The guy in the yellow T-shirt does one into a heelside 360 and then a bit further in the guy in the white t-shirt uses a surrender to link two 360's (and goes for a third but looses his footing)

http://205.209.134.30/~herokiz/stokemagazine/thepark.wmv

Hope it works and hope it helps!

surrender
On 7/15/2005 Matt wrote in from European Union  (86.131.nnn.nnn)

A surrender is when you dive off the front of the board on to your hands while going along in a straight line. The feet stay on the board in a regular surrender but the legs are stretched out. From there its possible to whip the board around you in either direction into pendulems or 360's. Its also one of the best ways to link multiple spins when going heelside as you just keep whipping the board around in front of you in a kinda slingshot style!

Hope that helps...looking forward to seeing the video from faltown!

pig in blanket

I think 'under the board' means your body spins downhill of the board so mid slide the boards above you on the hill and your below it.

Pig in a blanket roll
On 7/13/2005 Wilson wrote in from European Union  (86.131.nnn.nnn)

WOW man that sounds nuts! Can not believe how imaginative those guys are with their slides! I think i get your explanation Cliff. So if he is going under the deck i assume that it is a Surrender with one foot on the tail and the board in a manual??? Is that correct...and then you kind of go under around and up the other side!? HAHA thats nuts. Props to mark!

Fabrice, try this!
On 7/13/2005 Cliff Coleman wrote in from United Kingdom  (82.32.nnn.nnn)

F,

For the "Pig in a Blanket Roll", start with a surrender. Then take the front foot off. Next, with your back to the ground, roll under the deck while ballanced on two hands and the remaining foot on the tail. At this point, you will be actually riding backwards, under your board. Continue the roll undernath the deck until you roll out from the other side and back above the board. Then put your foot that is not on the deck back on at the rear and move the other foot to the nose. Then stand back up.

I told you it was nuts and that I couldn't explain it very well. I hope the video gets posted!

F, Sergio wants to visit San Diego probably in August. We get back on July 19th. You really need to get to Berkeley to skate with us!! Stay in touch via e=mail.

Its real nice to see the whole scene blossoming with Cliff and Sergio over here, kinda catalysed the whole place. It was getting a little slow in posts and new people gettin into it and now we have triple figures commited to sliding crazily, I have good feelins about the future, s'just gonna mean I gotta skate harder to keep up =)

Hello Cliff!

Yeah man, i know, those Faltown dudes are rad. Cant wait to meet 'em all! ...and learn to ride short decks! I just CANT ride those boards without swearing at the same time. HAHA! So the trip is good up there? Took some pictures i hope? Some clips?

Ill be in San Diego hopefully by the end of July to do some scouting for the Flow 2 (Gravity Board film for the people who dont know this movie) and get to know you guys. I just CANT WAIT ANYMORE!!! I need to learn some new tricks with my Masters, you and Sergio. I hope youll be around! I heard that you where goin again to BC?

Beautifull life...ride, meet good riders, and travel to ride again.

Soooon. SoooOOOooOOOon.

Could you try explain this new tricks? How was it done? Fast speed? Low on the ground? One hand? Two hands? No hands? One foot? No foot? Crooked and twisted with a martini in the left hand?

Jah Senor Coleman,

See you soon!!!

Sincerly,

-F

DONT SAND!!!
On 7/12/2005 F wrote in from Canada  (69.157.nnn.nnn)

DONT SAND it man...go and sand it with the asphalt. Sliding shouldnt be easy anyway. Use your body strenght to push the slide bro.

The only thing i had to say is that the Stinger SUCKS at sliding. Theyre good for the aggressive carve but not for the pure sliding techs. I use Gravity Sergios or Deatbox. Jah! Sliding bitcheeeeees!!!

Sliding wheels
On 7/8/2005 Noah lichtenberg wrote in from United States  (68.32.nnn.nnn)

I just got a pair of abec 11 strikers 88a hoping that they would slide better then my 78a gumballs. The gumsballs seem to slide better. Is there any thing I should do. I heard that if I use sand paper i could take a couple of the layers off the wheel, and they will slide better.

What do you guys think
Noah
