Removing grip tape residue?
On 4/28/2004 crawdad62 wrote in from (63.85.nnn.nnn)

Thanks a bunch Adam! I figured I would have a hard time finding the 3M stuff but they had it at Wally World. It worked great. Just totally dissolved the glue and I used a plastic putty knife to scrape it off. I had so much of it on there that I used the 3M then I ended up slightly sanding down to the finish.

Anyway it worked great and thanks for the suggestion.

Crawdad, I've removed exactly what you're struggling with using 3M Adhesive, Tar and Wax Remover (p/n 03618). It comes in a blue spray can. Removed the grip tape adhesive with ease after gasoline, acetone, paint thinner, WD-40, and Goo Off wouldn't dent it.

Removing grip tape residue?
On 4/27/2004 crawdad62 wrote in from (63.85.nnn.nnn)

I just got a BDS longboard that was supposed to come with die-cut Jessup grip tape. Well it didn't it came with some of the clear plastic stuff on it. I contacted BD and Foz (thanks man!) sent me a sheet of tape pre-cut and ready to be put on. Anyway I used a hairdryer to take the clear grip off but it left all the adhesive on the deck. I would like to get it off but I'm not sure what to use that would cut through the stuff without taking off the finish of the board. Any ideas?

all good names!
On 4/26/2004 psYch0Lloyd wrote in from (198.160.nnn.nnn)

Okay this is the cutoff point. I'm gonna try my darndest to see if I can get everyone who posted on the subject a sampling of this early on. Somehow...

Gotta to tell you guys that I really got a kick out of this. Some of those names are close to some of the ones I was thinking of. Nobody guessed what I had in mind but I bet some of you would if you saw what I'm talking about.

That last one from hughr was actually one of the names that the latest contoured deck design might have gone by.

Tom: Julicat and I really liked your GettaGrip idea.

Right now we are testing the limits of this material. We have found that it could add some structural integrity (stiffness) to the deck so this also may be an issue.

I'll keep you guys apprised on the latest developments.

Always at your service,

GorillaGrip

Thanks Hamm, I was just about to google it...
...figgered it was too good to be true.

Got something that works well enough but like DaveG knows it would totally give the idea away.

Still though this is some serious fun!

On with the games!

If anybody gets even close

I will... um, er... offer to...

...promise them something.

How can anyone top that one, PSR?

You nailed it!!!

I had some ideas rolling around my head (and though Tom's and Chris' suggestions were admirable too) but this one takes the cake. I'm gonna have to figure out a way to compensate you for the use of GorillaGrip. Well done!

Now if only the idea sticks like... um glue.
