Thank You for getting me to the airport on time this morning Cooper and Calahan! You guys saved me and thank you. After leaving my phone at Jimmy's on our way to GMR, nice move.
So I get into DIA and get my last 20bux in gas in hopes to get home. With all my gear in the car I couldn't pass by LookOut without hitting it the same day as GMR. Beautiful day in Denver today but real windy up there. Snow in the shade up top and quiet in the pines, and real windy at the bottom. There is a sign saying the road is closed on the 3rd from 8am to 1pm just to let ya know, bike thing.
I looked into the valley as I drove up Copper and saw the path from Vail had been plowed. Pretty cool because we've been gettin tons of snow, even last week. So from the top of the rest area to Copper has 3-5 foot snow on each side of the bike path for 5 miles, really wild to make turns on pavement surrounded by snow. There is some runoff and I walked a couple spots but I think we should still run it May 11th.
The winner of the cation contest is IanC. Doug, I thought we would have trouble getting whom ever the board but I think his mailing address is online at www.kebbek.com.
Thank you for all ya'll for getting me round last few days and please stop by so I can return the hospitality. There were so many highlights on this one. Skatespots, old friends, ok a couple new ones, Abec 11, Sector 9, watching some of the best sk8ers in the World destroying wheels! Dump Rd. that place smells funny? So John Rogers and K-rimes in my first heat, lucky me. Ever see those guys on a hill? I think I moved a lil bit and they were gone, not much draft on Kevin with a 3o mph crosswind and his tuck. Too many people to thank but the Flindt's let me cook and drink and sleep and drove me around. Yeh Mercado drove heaps too if I wasn't behind the wheel while he skated (or sat in the back drinking iced tea). You should all sk8 DC sometime with Smallwood and Dupin.
Cali series is so damn cool! Eeeerbody out there props for putting on these events, too much fun. Fast Cali old schoolers and kids who are making names for themselves mixin it up on legendary hills. Rad to see the Kludy Dynasty still flying. Hard to tell ya apart on the hill, but dad's gotta much bigger board. Thank you to Justin and Cooper looking forward to turns in the high country.
Dunn thanx for getting the board to me and Europe, that still hasn't sunk in.... 37 years old and the folks still let me borrow the car to go sk8
If my unemployment check gets here this week see ya at Ditch Slap. Guess I'm driving?

Bpeck here... been chilling in LA for the last few days with Rob, K-Rimes, James Kelly, and some friends from the Colorado crew at Jimmy Flindt's place (big big big thanks to Jimmy for giving us a place to crash and showing us some awesome hills). Rob's cooking some food now and wanted me to post in place of him to update all the fans with what's going on.
Saturday we got up early and hit a really rad GMR sess with a big crew of locals. After a few runs we headed out to Malibu to session some of the best roads I think any of us have ever seen. Wheels were killed, legs were sore, but everyone had the time of their lives.
Today was the outlaw race at Dump Road. Some hefty tailwinds made for interesting racing conditions. The results ended up with Dave Rogers taking the win, John Rogers in 2nd, James Kelly in 3rd and GMR local Tim (sorry, I don't know his last name) rounded up the final in 4th. Consi's were K-Rimes in 5th, Andrew Mercado in 6th, Andrew Sawyer in 7th and Nick Meehan in 8th. The Rogers Bros were seriously killing it all day, proving to all us young'ns that experience can play a tremendous part of racing.
If you ever get the chance to eat food that Rob has cooked, do it up. Here at Jimmy's we've been spoiled with McKendry meals and they just get better and better. Maybe after he cooks us another he'll be able to hop on and post some more interesting stuff but until then, this is all ya get!

Earth Day

mowed Doug Dupin's lawn yesterday in DC as part of my Earth Day celebration using a gas powered, carbon emitting mower. To offset this I wore a 100% organic T-shirt. I also planted in the garden...Tobacco! No BS! So should I feel good about planting a crop that has destroyed so many lives but at the same time created so many jobs? Not just in it's production but kept the health care system alive? I'm going to go have a cigarette and think about this.
I was here 20 years ago on Earth Day to protest something or be a hippy or I forget, and the hippies forgot to show up. No hippies or protesters or anybody running around screaming "Save the planet!". I think because we are constantly reminded to save the Planet, but doesn't really catch on. Cigarette butts and trash line all the streets of the Capital. There are beautiful spots all over DC! Gardens, monuements, (how do you spell moneument, mon you mints?) More has to be done then making boards outta bamboo, or using solar panels to power your business. Good start but what about cleaning up the stuff already on the ground? I do try to leave a small footprint and skating doesn't produce many emissions (unless I drank a lot the night before) but the chemicals used to make my board make it more fun.
The last time I mowed the lawn it was court ordered, and the last time I littered? Can't remember. Pack it in Pack it out! Pick up your crap! If you get caught dropping trash there should be a rule that you have to clean up the whole block! Gone skating with Smallwood and Dupin. A better life thru chemicals!

You missed one hell of a rockin' party!!!!! The rockers, the bikers and the punks took over cherry creek! See ya soon.

McKendry and The Pope

The Pope's visit inspired the DC Government to repave Mass Ave, which happens to be the road that holds the Vatican Embassy and is one of DC's best downhill runs. I guess The Holy See's Popemobile couldn't handle the potholes.
We've been blessed!

Anthony I'm trying to call you also but Mable at the switchboard must be crossing our lines. I was on the Metro and saw these kids wearing funny Pope hats. The train was filled with people who just came from the service at the ballpark. Pope bobblehead dolls, Pope posters, Pope onna rope. The over-commercialization of his visit is distracting and a way to divert attention from the purpose of his trip; to bless my board.
There's a small church in Rapid City, South Dakota, called Church of the Hills. I skated up and went inside (I dodged a flurry of lightnening bolts) and met a small man who asked me if he could help me. "Dude, this is the church for me!" I explained my love for hills, showed him my board, and he promptly blessed me and my sk8. If ever in South Dakota look em up, and then go to Crazy Horse. There are many untapped hills in South Dakota and very few people, someday we'll be discussing the next event at Mt. Rushmore.
Grand Junction is a blast. National Monument and the surronding canyons should be dry and ready. Cool thing about Junction; hotels are cheap and the bars are withn sk8ing distance. I'll be out there in May.
Congrats Will Brunson!
gotta take run, l8r
