Christiania was rad!!! Hash evrywhere, and bars of it. Andreas and I hauled ass thru Ger,any and qre currently at Peyragudes with the cast fro, all over the World. The hill is really cool, crappy pavement big sweepers, tight hairpins and big smiles!!!! The usuall guys are fast and the new kids don,t know how to slow down. I figure I,ll hang for a few rounds let the kids crash chasing Dalua, and maybe advance a couple. Sometimes you have to go slow to go fast; Lots of love around here today will see after 3 more weeks and less bathing. Looking out the windoe at the French Alps ready to grab a beer and some frog legs. John I,m just signing for everything, Street Swell should get the bill in a couple weeks! Hey check this key out§§§§§ more practice tomorroe; Skunkwerx

Got some freerides in last night with a good sized crew, bout 20 guys and girls. Some 'mericans, swede's, World Champions, some buttboards...good times; cept for Oscar, broken leg. So no race but think Lundberg was the safe bet. So motor's in the v dub and we'll see how far it gets today. I'm on Radikals and Josh's carbon foam core. This is Kalahani country so I should pick up a set of those while I'm here. Those boards look sick and the Black Cross boards are alsö perty. Price is on some new Madrid wheels and the yellow sector 9's are everywhere. Hope to get to Christiania today.

I'm having my last BUDweiser for a while. I'm using the list I made for my trip to Kludy's house in Jan? Joe Lehm told me a spell back to get a clip board and that's helped heaps. I make a list and now I've got list's just laying around, shoes, underwear, leathers, boards, money. Now getting ready to leave for a month, my floor looks like the scene from Escape From NY where Kurt is getting ready to go in. Lots of weapons and wheels. WOW this is a literal trip. Sleep at the airport and fly First Class! I gotta get to the airport to sleep on the floor and then fly First Class, did I mention First Class to Stockholm. The tickets come via a company producing carbon fiber race boards; Skunkwerx Racing. Gotta go pack, gotta, gotta do so many things that don't involve typing on this computer.

Congrats TOm on Vernon!!! Top Gun was in the final that's bitchn too!! Infact the list of people at Mischo's was really fun to read. There's no way I'm going to be ready to leave...it's a week from today?!!! My list; Skateshops in town are paid, Insurance is paid, rent, I have no $$$ for Europe!!!! So stoked Sector 9 came thru with the wheels thank you. 4 races in 1 month in a different country each race. I still don't have a board, hah! the World's a crazy place. Bola I hope to see the new shops soon, thank you again All Board Sports. Sorry to see George Carlin pass. I use to sneak into my dad's albums from the early 70's and play them over and over. He was a smart man. I gotta go get ready.
Drew Metcalf Justin is responding very well to the cards and notes he has received from friends and family. He's remembering names and people and it seems to spark his memory when he recognizes a name or a picture or something specific. Although he can't answer you yet if you know him please send him a card, a note, a picture, something. Use the hospital address:
Harborview Medical Center PATIENT: Justin Metcalf 325 Ninth Avenue Seattle, WA 98104 United States
Thanks, Drew

Rick I hope you had a good weekend and say hi to your fam for me. The year is only half over and we've got some BIG events to come. Dude I had a blast back at your place in Feb, thanx again for hosting everybody. I'll give you a ring this week. My shipping address is PO BOX 154 Vail, CO 81657 thanx Rick, for everything.
The Maryhill saga continues, from not everybody getting in, to protesters and sponsors and who knows what's next?
Anybody who wants to shred this weekend is welcome to come up, call me or post so we can decide which direction to go in. Nick I have the gate codes now to the neighborhood with all the switchbacks...the hill you sk8ed behind my restaurant. Smallwood sorry to see you back out. If they throw poop, throw it right back.

Nick, take your board to El Salvador. Sweetest pavement in the Americas and plenty of peaky volcanoes.
Jim, come ride with Doug and I....the terrain will surprise you. We're riding Saturday for Go Skateboarding Day.
Mc3, backing out of Europe. Going to Senegal for NatGeo to film chimpanzees that have figured out how to fashion sticks into spears and use them as weapons. Somehow it doesn't seem far removed from downhill racing, just a different kind of primate!

We are all so lucky to have a passion to ride toys all over the World. If I hear about an event or ride I miss, I'm bummed cause I don't get to hang with you knuckleheads. I've never been to Vernon and would love to take over Mischo's kitchen someday. Ya'll travel safe and can't wait to hear about the race.TEAM BROWN
Europe draws closer and I'm getting lil overwhelmed getting ready. Andreas has purchased a VW bus that will be home for the month of July. My board is in the oven. Skunkwerx is making some beautiful carbon aerospace engineered hi tech crazy board I have been dreaming about. Mr. West, Sorry but I didn't know I was so close. You must get in touch with Smallwood and Dupin. They got some killer hills in DC. I saw your boy at Ditch Slap, tell that kid I said "dude". Happy Father's Day.
Happy Father's Day to you and your Dad's. Is go skate day the 21st? That would be Saturday? I'm not getting any shuttles and really would rather just go skate. If anybody wants to crash at my house Friday we hit the hills next day, drop me a line. I skated the Pass today and there where lots of bikes. I rode from the top to Frisco bout 12 miles, then hitched back to the top and sk8ed the westsiiyyyyeed. Beautiful day.
Gotta work on Dad's Day. Happy Father's Day Dad. Thank you for being my biggest sponsor.

Rob, Hey man. Cool to see your spot on NCDSA. Cool to read about your adventures. You need to write a book. Anyway, I saw the photo of you in DC. When were you here? You should have hit me up. My office is right by the Lincoln Monument. Miss the New Mexico scene, but am having fun out here. There are lots of skaters and a good vibe. Travel safe, and if you are ever back again, look me up and we'll ride. Laters.

Justin's waking up!
Prior to Monday, we were lucky to get one or two words, or even a full sentence from him during the course of a day. Between times, when awake, he was in an unresponsive stupor or active and agitated, but with no apparent awareness.
On Monday he responded 5 or 6 times to specific questions with answers that required thought. Then he capped it off by recognizing his mother and saying "Hi, Mom"-- the first time he has seemed to recognize any individual. Still each of these incidents was separate and distinct with periods of unresponsiveness between.
On Tuesday, he was alert for a continuous period of 5-10 minutes, making a couple of spontaneous comments and responding to several queries. He even got some ice chips and water orally as well as a little juice. Hopefully he'll be eating on his own soon. His eyes tracked and focused on people or things, and the physical therapists even had him sitting up on the side of his bed (supported) for a while. Then he had to sleep. This takes a lot out of him, but he's coming along.
Still a long way to go, but every day now not only continues his progress but increases the rate. Of course there are always complications. He's still being treated for pneumonia, and now he's caught a GI infection. Funny how you always seem to get sick in the hospital.
Thanks for the cards and letters; he may be reading them himself soon.

Snowing outside today and I could let some scabs heal anyway. Really looking forward to being broke in Europe. Timeship thank you for the gear package, the gloves look sweet and always need a shield. I road the Copper side of Vail Pass Monday with big tailwinds and was stoked. Clean and maybe 4 bikes. The Vail side has some run off and the marmots are running the road. Some new rips in the pavement in the lower section, and the truck ramp is melted. Battle Mountain is Primed and really low traffic right now. Some of these big tourist roads should have less traffic this summer season.
