Wow, just got done packing and can't wait to see what I forgot. Heading to Maryhill in the morning for my first ever freeride. Got to ride Rist and watch Kyle and Kevin reclaim Rist for Colorado hitting hi 70's low 80's for the first runs of the season. Really stoked to get to see everybody and ride Mary once again. Didn't have time to go into quitting my job again to do this. Gotta snooze before the early flight.

Sounds like the helicopter ride might have been the more exciting ride! Isn't hang gliding one of the established activities there? It would be cool to figure out some relay / tag team / best edit contest. The helicopter class would require too much liability insurance, but maybe paragliders.

So Maytum and I met up at 9 am on Lookout to receive our Pagan merit badges. We ran the course with Jim MF'n Callahan following us in a helicopter. Now I had these visions of police style chase videos with Zak and I bombing the hill and on the run from this evil black chopper. Well it was kinda windy and I guess you gotta get real close with one of those whirly birds while shooting with a...Go Pro! HA HA!! Since the footage isn't that great here's an artists rendition.

I'm so stokeT to be back in RADo! There has been great weather with a mix of sun and snow and skating through February. I have only been snowboarding once this season (sad coming from riding heaps for about 15 years) and that addiction has been medicated by skating round the front range. There's a bunch of skaters down here and sessions abound with skaters of all levels. A few years back I drove an hour to make a garage sesh in Denver to meet up with these front rangers. I dig riding garages like most and can't wait to jump a fence and get chased, that's always a good laugh. I got a text last night at 9:55 PM that a bro down was happening and thought I've got the perfect board ready to go! My only problem was I had already gone to bed 20 minutes earlier. It's happened.

Funny you should ask...I just got done watching "Rising Son" the Christian Hosoi movie. I'm a sucker for a happy ending and this movie had it all. Drugs, skating, young girls, Dennis Hopper. Skaters take care of each other. glad he's ok. So when I was first buying downhill gear there wasn't anybody selling this stuff in Colorado except All Board Sports in Boulder. Bola the shop owner is still there just down one door from the old location which is now a weed store. His shop is loaded with toys. Bola still has an un-drilled Turner. There's still a set of floating axle Randals in the truck case. He has photos on the wall from the first Vail Downhill race. I bought a deck, you know to support the local guy, and at Bola's prices that should cover me for the year. Bola has always been down to support the scene. I scored a Madrid bubble board yesterday, so Mercado you're off the hook. Didn't get it at Bola's though. I stopped by Maytum's house? Can't really call it a house when there's 2 cars and a halfpipe in the living room. Maytum's gotta a pile of trophies from every race I ever wanted to win. Literally a pile of awards on the floor, big checks on the wall he's never cashed and he doesn't even blow bubbles! So he was kind enough to give the bubble board to a good home. Just a quick deck review on the Madrid Bubble board...it works. Really stoked to see so many people coming to BBDH. You should all plan on coming out early and staying late so we can freeride some big mountain roads. My house is filling up that week but if Maytum gets a trophy case and doesn't park in the living room that week he'll have room. gonna go blow some bubbles...

Pretty cool to still be rockin the Team Brown color's on NCDSA Classic. NCDSA is coming back at a time more and more veterans, masters, experienced,or just old guys line up to race each other. The Colorado Outlaw Series Joel Putrah put on over the last 3 months we had plenty of over 40 year old riders. We had more old guys at one event in December than there were total riders @ some past events(DC Downhill, Danger Bay 1). I heard about Barrett this year and sorry I missed a chance to race Golter, Rogers, Kludy, Flindt???? Did that just happen? Those are some of my downhill heroes. Ironically I ran into Biker Sherlock yesterday (name drop) guess what he talked about? How much fun it is to race again! Biker was showing off his latest Dregs at a trade show here in Denver this weekend. He pointed to the rack of boards and noted they where all raceboards or dropped and he's back to have fun. It would be heaps more fun to take on Golter, Lehm, and Biker than get my butt kicked all the time by the next hero. I do love to mix it up with young guys and they know it, that's why they slow down sometimes. The trade show this weekend was the SIA, I forgot what it means? The S is probably for snow and the I is international? or industry? So it's this big show in the convention center with ski and snowboard heroes and next years gear. This is not like ASR in that there's less porn stars and more gear and money. Everybody's making longboards and that's cool you just wonder about the motive of these companies who see a slump in their snowboard sales, due to global warming, and hop on the bandwagon. The helmets at this show were pretty sick. Check this www.pocsports.com The Cortex DH the lid has a new feature with this pin in the top and when smack your melon the pin breaks allowing the inner shell to move while the outer shell takes the impact or something like that...it's called MIPS. That lid was on the high$$$ and forgot all the affordable ones names after I saw the Cortex. Winter X Games this weekend and you have to checkout the womens final for skiercross. I have been following skiercross more than most cuz my old neighbor is the current World Champion (ready for the name drop?) Chris Delbosco. So Chris was the fastest qualifier this weekend and while watching the men race I would see a heat of the ladies. Just go youtube the womens final skiercross and watch how it plays out start to finish. Sick racing! Chris was last years gold medal winner and came in second today by half a ski. Another sick battle. Shawn White Super Pipe?!?! Lago 2nd with his jaw wired shut after land on his face 3 weeks ago! Torstein Horgmo with the triple backflip in Big Air with a broken rib? One of the biggest highlights though was to hear Kevin Pearce doing commentary. Kevin is a 23 year old former (ripping) pro snowboarder (one of the few people who could play at Whites level) who sustained a severe brain injury and is lucky to be alive after casing it into the deck while doing some crazy double cork trick like 15 feet out. Go youtube yourself and some Xgames highlights. Gonna go say prayers to (name drop) and stoked to be back here to. Maryhill in April? What's that all a about? O yeah got so pumped on the xgames for a moment...rode Lookout today. Pretty sick. Can't believe the weather here in January/February still hitting high altitude switchbacks. See you on the hill.

With Rist around the corner I would like to set up something specific for that hill. I know when it's all said and done it's just some wheels and a deck, it's a toy, so and so...did it switch, full moon, naked. But if you could have a board just for bombing full tuck what would you build? Is there a perfect set up? Here's what I plan on throwing at the hill... length: 41" shoulder width: 10.25" waist width 9.25" deep concave: .5" rocker: 3/8" wheelbase: 34" Kahalani's and 97mm Fly's
