I so agree with that and I feel strongly that the winner in Brazil should get the 1st one. Any race over the speed of 62.5 should get the Hardwick Cup !

K-Rimes is breaking new ground. Now that the record is going to fall in Brazil within the month, next summer there should be a speed event at this hill with the fastest rider each year being awarded the "Gary Hardwick Cup".
This would be a great way to remember one of our own.

Rick , I'm glad NCDSA has given you this forum. You have taught me so much about racing and it's a lil sad to see now you can share your secrets with everyone. I know you give them all away but who better to bring the new guys/girls up to speed. I will be on the Colorado hill next week with some new gear. I would like to bend your ear about your Brasil set up. Cool to see the people who are posting here are the folks in are family I respect and look up to. Those are the people you bring to speedboarding Rick. Much respek

You know thats not too far fetched. You could use existing walkways/service access, and link them with ramps. I think there is a Euro contest kinda like this. If you could figure out a way to put butts in seats, would be doable for sure!

Any football stadum would work. Just build the ramp to run around the inside and the stadum cou8nd hold real fast speeds because they are noise bleed high and 6000 people could line the course and be right there, as well as you could see the racer from anywhere in the stadum. Nothing but great seats. Yah , I am a dreamer ! I dreamed this sport would get big and its almost there ! No x-games for us baby.

have you posted about a colossal ramp before? maybe it's just a deja vu. colossal ramp, colossal crashes, colossal crowds.
herbn have you seen some of those videos on youtube of those guys going down the hill next to tiorati? I'm tring to hook up with them sometime, I'd be alot better than doing it alone.

Congratulations on getting your own little piece of Kludyville at NCDSA Rick!!! I couldn't think of a better person to be hosting this forum!!!
I think the ultimate speed run could be down the spill way of a dam. Somewhere on this planet there must be one that is incredibly steep and long that is skateable and has transition leading into a concrete channel. Getting permission to skate it and attempting a speed run would be another matter...
The IGSA has a Tag Heuer speed trap that is accurate to 1/1000th of a kph/mph. Landingham and I bought it years ago from some speed skiing guys. McKendry was telling me about this hill when I was in CO for the Slalom Nationals. Maybe we can organize a speed record race there in the future...

ever think that there could be a speed record set on an artificial kind of hill, like those monster ramps they set "highair" and distance jump records on? Maybe an extension to an existing hill or transitions added to some other structure, to make it skatable. I think high airs should be in a pumpable ramp, like at the end of a contest they have a high air contest on the same ramp as the contest. One step further, to make it truly valid it should be a physical effort, like no roll in everybody starts from the flat.

yo kludy
forget Brazil. Fort Collins Colorado is the new brazil. Kevin Reimer from BC went to colorado after maryhill. i have'nt skated this hill YET, but Rob McIII has with only positive things to say. its 12 to 14% grade with one turn where you have to cross the DY to straitline the sweeper, nice long runout to. gnar speeds.

Rick even if you don't realize it I bet most of the people here see you as the stoke of skating embodied into a caring father and role model for all those young bucks out there. it's definitely appropriate that you get your own thread!
