Speed Wheels
On 9/24/2007 DrNo wrote in from United States  (138.88.nnn.nnn)

Rick, 97mm Flywheels have been ridden at over 105 MPH on a one mile course.

Here's the link to the first speed attempts where we ran test after test for something like 9 consecutive runs at and over the 100MPH mark:
http://www.gravitydb.com/speed/psl103.wmv

Abec 11 Flywheels handled the heat. For us anyway.

Board bags & Wheels
On 9/24/2007 Kludy wrote in from United States  (68.8.nnn.nnn)

I like the Kitebag Idea. I got a same type of bag for Brazil but it was a base ball bag with roller on it. I took it to New York for a test run but the zipper broke when I got to New York. I may stich it up and run with that, cant beleave I am throwing it out like this.I am taking the rest of my roofing side job money and going to see my freind Rob in Colorado, going to make a few more I am sure ! O.K. Wheels are a big deal for me, gave to many away and now have none . I will take Cherrybombs for high speed in Colorado. At my age just cant get the help I need, Not marketable ! I heard that Bennet has race wheels and would love to try a set. Chris Chaput I think right now has the best wheels for high speed,Chris help this old guy out would you . Dan with the speedvents are unperdicable and he is not willing to send me a good set after sending me real bad wheels in the begining when he made the 1 st bach. If any of you wheel makers think you have a wheel that can do 80 mph on a simi smooth road and dont care that I am 45 years young and may not give you anything in return please send me what you have, I will fly your colors and stickers. 3237 meadow lane , Lemon Grove Calf. 91945 O.K. Thats my one and only shot for help, if not no worries I will ride my 9 year old bearings and wheels ! Makin it down the hill is way more important to me than winning !

Sport Tube
On 9/24/2007 mckendry wrote in from United States  (71.208.nnn.nnn)

I own 2 snowboard size sport tubes. It's a big toothbrush holder, it is telescopic. 2 leathers, 2 boards, helmet and tools keeping it at 50lbs. I have used the sport tube traveling everywhere and strongly recommend I learn how to spell? Anyway it rox. So Rist Canyon session on the 6th and 7th. Bring your GPS and any 2 way radios. I just shipped a sport tube to Portland for Marcotte to go run cones this weekend in NC. Sport Tube tell them I sent you and your a World ranked professional athlete. They go on the roof (waterproof) easily to when the rig is filled with duct taped golf bags. It's snowing today. Rist in the cold thin air=ffffaaaaassstttt. Let me know what you need Rick. I spoke to one of the Rist locals and you will be accomodated. Acomodated, acom ...never graduated.

Flying with longboards
On 9/24/2007 Shredder wrote in from Germany  (62.214.nnn.nnn)

Try a kiteboarding boardbag. They come perfect sizes for two boards, leathers, helmet and other gear, are padded and have trolley-style wheels. There even are some models that look like golf bags, because many airlines do not charge extra for golf bags...

Kludy and friends,

May I ask how you guys transport your boards when traveling by air? Do you check them or carry on(if that's even allowed)? I'm getting ready for a trip to Cali from Alaska and I need to know how to handle my boards. Thanks gang!

Gary Hardwick Cup
On 9/21/2007 Kludy wrote in from United States  (216.70.nnn.nnn)

I so agree with that and I feel strongly that the winner in Brazil should get the 1st one. Any race over the speed of 62.5 should get the Hardwick Cup !

Speed record
On 9/21/2007 deano wrote in from United States  (209.181.nnn.nnn)

K-Rimes is breaking new ground. Now that the record is going to fall in Brazil within the month, next summer there should be a speed event at this hill with the fastest rider each year being awarded the "Gary Hardwick Cup".

This would be a great way to remember one of our own.

Rick , I'm glad NCDSA has given you this forum. You have taught me so much about racing and it's a lil sad to see now you can share your secrets with everyone. I know you give them all away but who better to bring the new guys/girls up to speed. I will be on the Colorado hill next week with some new gear. I would like to bend your ear about your Brasil set up. Cool to see the people who are posting here are the folks in are family I respect and look up to. Those are the people you bring to speedboarding Rick. Much respek

Downhill Velodrome
On 9/20/2007 Jamie M wrote in from Canada  (70.49.nnn.nnn)

You know thats not too far fetched. You could use existing walkways/service access, and link them with ramps. I think there is a Euro contest kinda like this.
If you could figure out a way to put butts in seats, would be doable for sure!

Ramps fo espeed
On 9/20/2007 Kludy wrote in from United States  (68.8.nnn.nnn)

Any football stadum would work. Just build the ramp to run around the inside and the stadum cou8nd hold real fast speeds because they are noise bleed high and 6000 people could line the course and be right there, as well as you could see the racer from anywhere in the stadum. Nothing but great seats.
Yah , I am a dreamer !
I dreamed this sport would get big and its almost there !
No x-games for us baby.
