It will be Rad' for sure!
I've got new about the PSWC website: it will be updated soon http://event.riderz.net (I hope tomorow, before the end of the week for sure - ask if you need infos)
Mr Hackett: Bowl/ramps are damn rare here in Paris :( You can ride a little s#@!ty bowl not too far from the Trocadero spot (made by people that really don't know what is sk8board). and eventually a few ramps can be found, but not in great state. It's a shame!
To find a real park you'll have got to go in the suburb (10/12 kilometers south from Paris : Vitry Sur Seine - www.rollerparc.com ). It's the biggest indoor skatepark in Europe: Big Vert Ramp (h:4m+ 4m60ext) a wood bowl and various ramps and parks modules. We could probably improvize a session there if you want to...

For what it's worth, Dave, the day they delivered the Skateboarder mag with that shot of your brother Paul on the cover is still memorable to me. Don't remember caring about whether it was done with suspenders or super glue, just remember thinking a whole new world of big air on vert was opening up.

Hey Joe,
Yeah, I used to ride the Turning Point Ramp with Kent and The Jerr. Unfortunatly I don't have any photos of me riding it.
I do have this shot of me blasting one of the first early big backside airs at Reseda using Suspenders...
I would love to see some shots of the TP ramp...

Hold on just a minute! Who's looping who? The Turning Point ramp was also not a "real" loop because it was tilted at a slight angle to allow you to pick up needed speed for the loop. I would still say that it was the first loop because so many rippers did it and were then forgotten. I did it at Marina del Rey during the year it was there, though I never got to the second rib. Sure, it was a few degrees shy of upside down, but no pillows, run outs or tracks. See the recent issue of Concrete Wave with a double page spread of Jerry Valdez looping it frontside back in '78. Jer, Kent Senatore and Polar Bear were among several guys that could loop it 3 ribs out, even multiple loops! Cradles are cool, but what I want is another Turning Point! Hey Hackett, did you ever ride it?

Dan,
They put the track in after Duane broke his collar bone. That is of course after he had succesfully looped it trackless.

Don O'Shei, nice to see you posting after a long absence. Regarding the loop, I remember that Skitch Hitchcock skated a loop on a track (with the board mechanically fixed to a track) as part of the short-lived "Skateboard Mania" touring stage production. Like the Hackett brothers' Suspender-assisted aerials, perhaps not considered "real" by some. But did the "Skateboard Mania" loop-on-a-track come before or after the loop runs by DP and John Walker?

Hey Don, you know how it goes; I hate to disagree also, but do you REALLY think Alva threw the first air?
Was Gelfand the first to throw the first ollie?
How about Olson? Was he the first to throw down the Layback?
How about the backside air or Invert? Was it Jay? Wally? Me? You? Who?
We all may have some insight as to what actually happened on those historic days; but usually someone gets all the credit.
I'm claiming Duane did the loop first. I wasn't there. Maybe you were. I would love to see the photos or footage proving otherwise...
I have photos of my brother and I blasting 3-6 foot airs before TA's hand held air at the Dogbowl using "Suspenders" - Oh, but that wasn't considered REAL air because we were using straps. I guess Laird Hamilton's 60 foot waves are'nt REAL either because he's strapped in.
I think George Orton and Kevin Reed were blasting airs about the same time TA was...why does he get all the credit? Was it because Friedman took the shot? Was it because TA's were WAY more stylish? (Tuck knee vs Stinkbug)
It all depends on what you're perspective is...we all know who really did what and when...

Hackett
I hate to disagree with a legend but DP wasn't exactly the firts to try the Loop. I was there that day at the ramp factory when they were trying the loop with the air bag. There were two riders taking turns trying it, DP and John Walker from the Sims Team. They both tried over and over and Walker was the only one to make it all the way around with the bag that day. It was an unbelievable smash fest as the run in ramp was very narrow and sketchy. I did hear that DP made it without the bag another day and all Kudos to him. It was a broken neck waiting to happen. I do think however, that Walker was one of the overlooked talents of that time.
