Jay The DH was not intended to turn as much as the RII 180. The angle of the baseplate is 35 degrees compared to the 50 degree RII baseplate. The bushing seat of the DH hanger is different and limits the turning of truck as well. There are a few things you can do to help: Flip the top bushing washer over. Remove the bottom bushing washer. Use tall bushings top and bottom and use a longer kingpin when necessary. Wedge the baseplate. Use RII baseplates.

Every time I come to this page I'm reminded I didn't get that Hawaii 5-0 board off ebay. My parents bought me a new one in 1969..it was my first board. I left/lost it at the local playground in Kailua, HI that same year.....gggrrrr
A late congratulations to Judith, John, Jimmy, Tyler, RJ, Mike and Jon for the San Dimas race podiums. Thanks to Eric, Kai and the guys at the 'fish for the great coverage and pictures.

Congrats to John Rogers, Jimmy Flindt & Dave Rogers for 1,2,3 in the IGSA Calif DH series today! We just finished looking at the photos from the 3 cameras we had on course...there are some real good shots.
They'll be up on the 'Fish, later tonight and look for an IGSA race report by Wed os so.
Flindt woulda had it if he'd just put a ten foot nosecone on his helmet. Man, you can lead 'em to water but...

Dave's got a story to go with this board. He was trying to win this on eBay, but got sniped at the very end. It went for just under $88.

Dunno if this helps nail it as Guy Grundy's board
Get a copy of CW summer 2005, turn to page 83 (Downhill Motion Article), theres a nice big shot of the LaCosta crew (grundy included) and the board in question.
Nice find!

The SoCal weather gods did it again! A big crew came up from the San Diego area and it was on!! Thanks to Ronnie and Kludy Sr. for bringing the crew up for another great day! RJ and Nick showed up with some new toys...RJ had a new helmet cam and Nick had a new car to replace the truck he rolled last month!! Hey RJ! the video you posted refuses to work on this computer...the Bonelli one works fine. Thanks to Mark for haulin' us up the hill all day. The "young guns" are getting faster!! Congratulations to Andrew, Tyler, Justin and Kyle for the great final run! You guys are looking fast! It was cool to see BQ (that's right Billy Quinn!) out and on a speedboard again. Billy said we may see him racing at Maryhill or Sandia this year...cool! Hey OneEye and Carly....we missed you...again!

Thanks for the photo Mr. Price! Good to see you guys with some dry pavement under your wheels! Yea..GMR has some fast right-hand, banked hairpins. The banking is so steep on one of them that it looks like a NASCAR racetrack! We might need to practice more on some of the flatter turns to get ready for COWZER!! EBAY seems to be the place for a deal on leathers. I have seen a few EBAY suits this year that are real bargains! Hey, if your nuts hurt, the leathers are probably going to make you significantly faster!! ha ha... Watch out when you raise your board over your head on the podium....ouch!!

Guy Grundy Board?

Erek...That is a very cool board. Signal Hill! Guy Grundy! What a score! If you ask around enough, I'm sure you will find the real story of that "banjo". I think our buddy Waldo raced Signal Hill on a similar board. John Hughes may have some contact information for you..skatewhat@yahooDOTcom. John organized a very cool Signal Hill reunion and has contact with many of the Signal Hill racers. Try this for Guy Grundy...HBpirates@verizonDOTnet...posted on the Skatecar forum some time ago. Ed Economy or Eric Groff might have some info for you..not sure of email for them.

already posted this pic in the speedboarding forum....but, we have already started riding mary thanks to the dry(but very cold) weather. hope GMR has some 180 degree banked right hand hairpins that you go into at about 40-50....only like 4 months away till race day!!!!
....and we both got new aero leathers thanx to the miracle of ebay.....so tight my nuts hurt!
oh yea, guy grundy's speedboard looks crazy, be interested to ride that thing nowadays....just imagine if you showed up at a signal hill race in the 70s with a modern speedboard with some big green wheels and some custom trucks.....

You can find a Snell rated Fly helmet on ebay for $59.99 + $11.00 shipping (or less) right now.
I believe that the 606 II, 606 III, and FL-606 are all Snell Rated 2000 or better and DOT approved.
Go to ebay and serach on "fly helmet 606" and see what comes up. I got the Fly 606 II in the orange, yellow, white, gray color scheme from ProCycleUSA.com ...
