[b:316lrc06]Press release: 15/09/2010 - For immediate release[/b:316lrc06]X in the City World Indoor Slalom Challenge Trophy taking place at LondonGÇÖs ExCelX in the City can now confirm that the X in the City World Indoor Slalom Challenge Trophy will be taking place in the Ride & Roll Zone at X in the City. X in the City is happening at LondonGÇÖs weatherproof ExCel from 22-24 October 2010 (half term), and is the largest participation sports event in the world with 9 zones of action covering the elements of land, water and snow over a massive area of 153,000 sq ft. The UKSSA (UK Slalom Skating Association) will be part of the action with a team of high profile riders promoting slalom skateboarding and getting everyone involved in their sport, doing demos and taster sessions, and they have also organised the X in the City World Indoor Slalom Challenge Trophy.[b:316lrc06]Paul Price (GB), [/b:316lrc06]a full time professional slalom skateboard racer ranked in the top 20 in the World and a snowboard instructor, will be using his teaching experience at X in the City to introduce the sport to new riders, give racing tips to more experienced skateboarders and get everyone engaged in Slalom Skateboarding. Other featured riders include [b:316lrc06]Louis Selby (GB), [/b:316lrc06]who has a string of 1st and 2nd place results at various British and European events and finished overall 12th at the World Championships this year, [b:316lrc06]Ella Rogerro (GB)[/b:316lrc06] who took 2nd place overall at the Dutch Open, has won numerous titles and is one of the fastest women racers out there, [b:316lrc06]Sam Gordon (GB), [/b:316lrc06]winner of the Amateur German Open Championships in August and holding a current Amateur World Ranking of 18, [b:316lrc06]Michael Stride (GB), [/b:316lrc06]former Amateur World Champion, [b:316lrc06]Rob Ashby (GB), [/b:316lrc06]who has been racing and competing as part of the British Team all over Europe since 2008, veteran racer [b:316lrc06]Chris Linford (GB), [/b:316lrc06]who started his slalom racing career back in the late 70GÇÖs and is still going strong taking 3rd place in the giant slalom at the British Championships this year, [b:316lrc06]Vincent Berruchon (France), [/b:316lrc06]French National Slalom Skateboarding Champion for the last 5 years and ranked in the top 20 Pro in the World Slalom Rankings, French father and son riders [b:316lrc06]Michel and Christopher Dupont, Danny Navarro (Spain), [/b:316lrc06]current World 50 and 100 cone record holder in the Junior Division, [b:316lrc06]Pablo Ballester (Spain), [/b:316lrc06]overall Spanish champion in 2008 and 2009, [b:316lrc06]Bruno Oliveira (Brazil), [/b:316lrc06]competing and collecting titles in both the UK and his home country, [b:316lrc06]Peter Klang (Sweden)[/b:316lrc06], who has taken podiums in all major skateboarding disciplines including slalom and is the current world record holder in 25 cone GÇ£Cyber SlalomGÇ¥, [b:316lrc06]Fabian Bjornsterna (Sweden),[/b:316lrc06] who took 3rd place overall at the Dutch Open recently and [b:316lrc06]Antonio Saluena (Sweden) [/b:316lrc06]with a number of European podiums under his belt. [b:316lrc06]Andy Makeham (GB), [/b:316lrc06]a regular on HydeGÇÖs Park Serpentine Road and now part of the Brighton based GÇÿPig CityGÇÖ Slalom Group will also be racing along with fellow skateboarders [b:316lrc06]Tony Lord (GB), Mike Allison (GB), Mmedo Duffort (GB), Ian Cranfield (GB) [/b:316lrc06]and [b:316lrc06]Gabe Steptoe (USA). [/b:316lrc06]Seasoned riders [b:316lrc06]Bart Brunnikhuis [/b:316lrc06]and [b:316lrc06]Jeroen Steggink [/b:316lrc06]will be on site representing Holland.There will also be a large group of riders from Germany as [b:316lrc06]Donald Campbell [/b:316lrc06]brings some of his [b:316lrc06]Gang of Germany [/b:316lrc06]over to race at X in the City GÇô [b:316lrc06]Dominik Kowalski[/b:316lrc06], super fast racer who has won almost every major title including European and World Championships, [b:316lrc06]Kathrin Sehl[/b:316lrc06], whose recent titles include both the womenGÇÖs German and Dutch Open Champion and she took 2nd overall at this yearGÇÖs World Championships. Joining them are [b:316lrc06]Christoph Baumann[/b:316lrc06], [b:316lrc06]Markus Roch[/b:316lrc06] as well as slalom and downhill racer [b:316lrc06]Daniel Vogt[/b:316lrc06]. X in the City World Indoor Slalom Challenge Trophy races will be taking place daily from 2.30 GÇô 4.30 pm, with open practice in the mornings. Novices get the opportunity to have a go on the course and meet elite racers twice a day, with a prize giving for the best novice times at the end of each day. There will be loads happening in the Ride & Roll Zone so make sure you get your tickets and be a part of it. Advance tickets are available on http://www.xinthecity.co.uk and only cost -ú10 for students and under 16GÇÖs (under 5GÇÖs are free) and -ú15 for adults (all +booking fee) for the full three days of action from 22-24 October 2010. Hi Tony,Unluckily I have a family bash on the same weekend as Amsterdam, so cannot go. There are, however, a few of the London tribe that have muttered about heading out. Rob Ashby speaks a bit of Dutch (his real name is Lars van der Valk)and likes to practice his old tongue. Ella is now of an age where Amsterdam is nirvanah and old folks can get lost, so is thinking about it too. This means that her personal wallet holder and dad Mick Reiss will be going. Throw Louis Selby, Michael Stride and very possibly Paul Price into the mix with your good self and you have Team England.Amsterdam is not far away. Everyone should try to make it if they can!

Who is heading for Amsterdam? I'm looking to join the UK Foreign Legion for the first time and have convinced the wife that a mini break in Amsterdam would be a romantic escapade! Has anyone booked flights or accommodation yet? The venue looks quite a long way out of the centre so I was going to book something in the centre and commute out on raceday. Any tips or recomendations would be appreciated. I know we will probably see Ernst & Bart at Hog Hill but figured to book now before the flights get more expensive.Tony (PC)
