Booked this 15 seater for Saturday 4th February 11:00am from the Europcar Office at Putney Bridge tube station. Might be a good rendez-vous point and time, or better still, the cafe opposite.
Our one comes in Chav White with birds#@! bonnet ornament. And rust.

Will do Mog! It might be worth hiring two Ciroen C4 Picassos at £70 a throw (pre-book Europcar) so that Paul/AN Other can take one too and spread the precious load of boards.

Cadwell is located on the edge of Nowhere and the North Sea. Upshot is that best approach is either by car: Cadwell directions or by Standard Viking technique.
Although there are airports nearby (Humberside/ Doncaster/ Leeds) the most cost effective International approach will be to fly to Stansted on Saturday and drive from there.
At the moment there are some very good deals from Air Berlin.com and Lufthansa fly there also.
Heathrow is bloody miles away, but could be a last minute consideration if you get friendly with a pilot. Get the ferry if you prefer sailors: P&O Ferries. Rotterdam/ Zeebrugge to Hull has a certain ring to it.
Good French folk should pack a thick woolly pully, a carton of Gitanes and head for the Gare du Nord with Market Rasen and Lincoln stations as final destinations after shennanigans in London. Watches back 20 years, Monsieurdames. Yup; the plane is probably better.

Wasteland 7.02 - rain stopped play.
Thanks for the very professional photos Big Steev, here are my snaps:
Rain started the day so it was decided not to rent a van to transport the ramps. This meant a strong push was essential to get a good time, and Martin's Achilles did him no favours. In all other races they use ramps, and that's what we need to practice.
Attendence was low as many people were on hoilday.
A few of us arrived and it dried out by 1pm enough to race. Timing equipment problems meant we did 2 runs by stop watch in case of more rain. Curt and I both had stop watches on the finish line and our timing reactions was within 1/10 of a second - with a few identical times recorded. We averaged our stop watch times. and added cone penalties. Thanks to Curt for helping out (and fixing my back) - good luck with the wedding next week!
Just as well we got some times as we did not have dry time to complete the double elimination racing. Rain started and stopped us. We did get some good racing in though.
Everyone was riding well, and Big Steev would have finished much higher than his qualifying time. Bish and Crowbar (unbeaten) were skating faster too. Ella was the best female and junior, with Pam taking to the cones too.
After the rain stopped play we gave out prizes donated by Octane Sport and Pavel Skateboards (I think nearly everyone got something) and then hit the pub.
Thanks for the willing help from everyone, it made everything flow smoothly.
When I win the lottery I will buy big ramps, a tag heuer timing system and Brands Hatch.
Until then - see you at Hyde Park - then in September are the Europeans in Grenoble and the World Championships in North Carolina. Super!
Results - Qualifying times - fastest of 2 runs
1. Paul Price 12.305 2. Mike Stride 12.705 3. Martin Drayton 12.750 4. Mick Reiss 12.965 5. Pat Holden 13.485 6. Luke 14.785 7. Bish 14.800 8. Crowbar 14.895 9. Ella 15.175 10. Rich 15.245 11. Big Steev 15.46 12. Munch 18.725 13. Chris 20.435

Here's the second of this year's London based slalom taster series. If you've ever wanted to try a bit of slalom, or just want to come along, chew the fat and find out a bit more about longboard and slalom racing, then this is the place. Run what you brung or borrow from the homies, Wasteland is an excellent introduction to both skateboard cruising and racing.
Get your name down on the sign-up list. Better to be featured there and show support, even if events transpire that you might not make it. All entry fees go towards track hire and insurance. Sign up here: Wasteland sign-up

From Andy Tempest, via Lush forum: I sent the following to UKSSA Paul Price and he replied saying post here to see what people think, so read on and it should explain all
Please comment back so I can see what people think of the place!
_______________________________
Hello,
I have heard through a friend about people moaning about the lack of slalom locations at the lastest Wasteland event! so to hopefully put a small stop to this heres a decent location for all the West london(ish) slalomers.
Maybe if you could put the following info on the home page of ukssa it could get some jams happening here.
So its, Ascot racecourse.
Theres two runs, both closed to regular traffic, within 2mins skate, both a constant gradient and smooth surface. 1. 100m open section + 40meter covered. 3 wide lanes loads of run off and parking. Same gradient as the Hillingdontrack. 2. 30m open section, steeper and just over a lane wide
This video should explain all:
Ascot slalom
(First time we have ever setup cones so the slaloming isnt good, but you can see the hills potential)
And its location, it doesnt appear on the map, seeing as its 2yrs year old
Ascot map
Hope to hear back soon.
Andy.
