I originally planned on writing a long post, but who likes to read long postings? Hence the word “POST” So here it is short and sweet.

Problem 1: Pouring Rain in The Bay Area = NO SKATING FOR ME 

Possible Solution: Drive to So-Cal to visit buddy and go long boarding

Problem 2: Brand new deck w/ NO BEARINGS, WHEELS, or TRUCKS

Final Solution: I send money to Purple Skunk. Lizzie sends gear from Purple Skunk to my house in 1 business day. (Oh by the way, Purple Skunk spells the word shipping “F-R-E-E” during the holidays.)

Result: Ripping it up with friends in Sunshine, 350 miles away from the rain.
(BIG SMILE ON MY FACE!)

Thank you so much Lizzie, you honestly brightened up my Holiday Season with your personal service. UPS and other companies have given me so much grief this month, and in the end your order got exactly where it needed to be. ON MY BOARD! In 1 business day!

The Purple Skunk ROCKS! Thank you Lizzie! My son's christmas will be perfect. I ordered on line and was contacted the next day! We worked it out and I got the perfect board for my son. Anyone can sell a board and parts to go with it. These people go way beyond that. They are there 100%. If you are looking for a board go anywhere. If you are looking for the team that cares about what you want and need go to THE PURPLE SKUNK!

I had a devil of a time getting a friend [directed by google] to the shop's webpage, so, I'm posting up a more direct means of finding the best collection of old, cool, unique boards in the NorthEast. Stop in if you're up near Manchester,Vt, and say hi to Nick or Ross, and take awhile to ponder the various boards they've got on display (btw,my old board is the longest there, 205cm).

Oh, and they sell new stuff, too! ;-)

PODIUM
On 10/1/2006 PSR wrote in from United States  (69.165.nnn.nnn)

If you're up in Southern Vermont, take moment to stop by the PODIUM Skateboard/Snowboard Museum and Shop in Manchester, Vermont. You'll find things in there from our past that'll truly blow your mind!
However, this shop also has it's eye on the Future...

I want to thank both Nick Pedemonti and Ross Powers for their support this year with sponsorring Adam Schwippert. It's rare that a shop will invest in a Racer on Snowboard, even rarer for a Racer who Skateboards. Adam does both (he'll be focusing on Freestyle on Snowboard this season), and PODIUM stepped up and chipped in.

Nick also is stoked on the Ball Mountain Dam Slalom Race, and has contributed a bit for that. Nice to have a shop nearby that understands the sports it's involved in. Even better when they actively Support those sports.
Thanks again guys for Everything!!

skateshops....we wanna hear from you
On 8/28/2006 Michael Brooke wrote in from Canada  (67.70.nnn.nnn)

I know a lot of folks who read this forum either manage/own shops or are quite friendly with those who manage or own skate shops...please let them know about this new program.

Over the past number of years, I have heard from a number of skateshops about what's on their minds...the good, the bad and the ugly. Since Concrete Wave is NOT a retailer and we are NOT a manufacturer, we are in a unique position to communicate with both groups.

Constructive criticism and feedback is VITAL - it keeps customers happy and it keeps things moving forward. But there are times when people are somewhat worried about speaking their minds.

I believe I have come up with a way that ensures shops have the freedom to say what's on their minds without fearing retribution.

And so, I bring you a new Monthly Newsletter called Voice of the Shops.

There are only 4 things you need to know about this newsletter:

1. it's free to shops and those who make/market skate products

2. it's going to be written by folks who run/own/manage shops

3. it's 100% confidential - we will keep your name/email off the actual articles (unless you want it there)

4. the newsletter will be sent to shops if they ask for it and it will be sent to skate companies.

It is my hope that by airing some of the issues, shops will see an improvment in things like:

1.shipping (ie how fast orders are turned around)

2. distribution

3. advertising

4. promotion

5. quality of product

We want to hear from you on what works, what is not working and what is moving things backward...feel free to email me your thoughts at mbrooke@interlog.com. Look for the first digital newsletter to hit sometime in October.

Best wishes,

Michael
