If you're ever on the west coast of florida, this a really good shop St.Petersburg. Good vibe and run by a couple of guys who also longboard and slalom.

I thought you might like the latest conversation I had in one of the local shops:
Me: "I was just curious if you've seen a sneak peek of the new Jay Adams shoe?"
Guy: "We don't carry Vans." (Must have been thinking Alva?)
M: "Oh, no, I think it's coming out on Osiris."
G: "Well, I can tell you one thing, it will be pretty basic and boring. I mean, the guy doesn't go jumping down stairs or anything."
**end of conversation**

Stopped by on the wknd. I was really impressed. They have a great selection of decks, wheels and trucks. Everyone was very friendly and the customer service was really great. I picked up a carveboard there a few days later. I love it! Didn't think I would ever find a shop in Calgary with such a great selection.

I don't know about that-- I went surfing off Tofino in late august and duck-diving gave me ice-cream headaches. It was COLD.

The best damn surfshop on the west coast before any in California. THe best shop for longboards and all your gear. And of course surfboards! Dude, make the trek up to Canada to explore this kickass shop. Then go do some cold water surfing. It's not that cold in Canada. It's just like northern california. C'ya - Rob

I guess a great shop should not be penalized cuz it's in cyberspace. It lacks certain amenities..but my favorite place for gear is Solidskate.com. Ultra-fast delivery, nice selection. It works no matter what gawdforsaden town you live in.

I just wanted to drop a line about the blue skunk. My friend lives in Houston and since we always go to St. Louis, we get to visit the blue skunk on like a daily basis. His friend once said, "It's awesome. And they have some awesome/sweet boards."
P.S. --- ask for a double whopper! the combination rules.

Lizzie @ the Purple Skunk is GREAT! She fully hooked me up w/ a Fibreflex pintail, Randal 180's and abec11 Flashbacks - whatta super cushy ride!
Whether you're old or new, the Skunk is the place to get the perfect deck - they have a whole bunch of completes just waiting for a test ride up and down the mellow slopes of the Richmond.
I'll be back!

Also, ditto on the Purple Skunk--if you're in NorCal, that's the only place you'll need to go to--South or North.

hey Jake,
Actually, there was remarkably little good longboard stuff in most of the skate/surf shops in San Diego when I lived there. I would just pick up the yellow pages and call the surf and skate shops. One place that is good is Hamel's in Mission Beach. You can also talk to Glenn of Solidskate, if he's still around. He's in the San Diego area, and he was always super cool about letting me drop by his offices to buy stuff so I could save shipping.

if you're in northern cal, check out the Purple Skunk in san francisco. they carry a wide range of decks, trucks and wheels. their phone number is 415.668.7905. it's a super laid back shop, really good folks working the floor. ask for patty or lizzie.

don't know if anybody has posted about this shop yet, but i know i saw some inquires on longboard shops in utah when i searched for SLC. Anyway, Traps- its located on 13th east between 2nd and third south next to graywhale. they have the largest stock of longboards in SLC. they carry many different brands and know a lot. they have demo boards that they let you take out for a whole day if you want to. they definitely have the longboarding spirit. they even have a couple of slalom boards, even though not too many people around here do it. but go check them out.
