Hey Purpleskunk and Lizzie, Just wanted to send a holla of thanks to u all for the other day. It was like a candy store for all of us or as you put it better, a toy store! But it wouldn't have felt that way if not for the way you were with all of us, you made all of us feel welcome and comfortable which translates into a FUN time!
For these out there who gets bored shopping online for longboard skateboard stuff, wanting to feel and see everything in one place, and dream of such a shop, u got it, Purpleskunk is just that shop!
We will be seeing you soon... fun carvings to you all! Noah Kessler

I ordered new trucks at palermo 2 weeks ago, and even though I live in the Netherlands (Europe) it took only 1 week to ship! And with some help of they guys at Palermo I didn’t even had to pay import or custom taxes!! Tnx dudes. They also give great advise to people building boards, and if you doubt about what trucks/wheels to use this, is the place to go for advice.

Fishtail boards?

Was wondering if there might be a chance that there are any independent companies out there coming out with a modern spec fishtail deck in the neighborhood of 9.5"-10" x 32.5"-33"? A deck not unlike the stubby little reissues, but with the length, width, tail and nose length(rounded shovel nose)of something like the BL RC Duane board?
If not, please pass this onto the companies you support.
Thanks.

This is the least I could do for Lizzie and the Purple Skunk team in SF. I recently purchased some ultimate longboard and slalom equipment via the on line service from London England. Lizzie has been professional, courteous and extremely helpful in delivering the goods (plus some goodies for my son). My son was over the moon when he got his G & S board he still can't believe how long the wheels spin when he turns them. I would just like to say thanks once again to Purple Skunk and a special thanks to Lizzie. Fully recommend this shop distance is no barrier.

Skateboard Mom (the book)

Hi all. My name is Barbara Odanaka. I skated for the Hobie amateur team in the late 1970s and still skate daily. Along with being founder of the International Society of Skateboarding Moms, I'm a children's book author. My first book, SKATEBOARD MOM, will be published this May by G.P. Putnam's Sons, an imprint of Penguin Putnam. The story is about a boy who gets the ultimate birthday gift--a skateboard--only to watch his mom take off with it and become a skate goddess in the process. I'm wondering if any skate shop owner (or skate magazine editor) would be interested in receiving a free copy of the book (obviously in hopes that you'd like to offer SKATEBOARD MOM for sale in your store once it's officially published in May). I can only send about a dozen free copies (past that, it comes out of my pocket) so please let me know as soon as possible if you're interested. If you'd like to see the book's cover, or learn more about me, visit my website, www.skateboardmom.com. Thanks! Barbara Odanaka p.s. I'm also looking for other skateboarding moms as freelance for a variety of publications, including the Los Angeles Times, and am planning on writing a variety of features about moms who skate.

Good to know the place is still going strong!

I just wanted to add to the great reviews for Purple Skunk Skate shop in SF. Although I am 3000 miles away, and usually place small and confusing orders, Patty and Lizzie treat me like an old friend and neighbor. They are all about customer service, something so sadly missing from almost every purchasing experience these days, especially on the net. They actually call you BACK. They confirm orders and e-mail you when your package ships (almost always the same day, which can be a drag if you change your mind a lot like me). And if there's a problem they fix it, FAST. I really like them, and you will too.

APW,
if you're posting in this message board, i'm certain you've read up on the Purple Skunk skate shop in san francisco. they are well stocked in longboard equipment. those flashbacks shouldn't be a problem. and the folks there won't flake on you. check them out online (www.purpleskunk.com) or call them during their business hours. the number is on their site i believe...
as far as your $40 lesson, call your credit card company to reverse the charges.

I ordered Flashbacks from these guys on 9/20. The wheels never showed up. I emailed these guys in the meantime to try and find out what was going on. They charged me $6.95 for shipping and sent them General mail (San Deigo to LA). On 10/7 they said that insurance papers would be sent to me, which I still havent received. Since then I have emailed them and left them voice mails since they never answer the phone. I have received no response. My messages that I have sent them were polite until today. If anybody orders stuff from these guys make sure they send it ups of fed ex. I have been completly blown off by these IDIOTS and learned a $40 dollor lesson. If anyone has any advice for me I would appreciate it greatly.
