Just so there is no confusion. As I had announced months ago. The proposed race in Roanoke, VA will not be happining this year. Although the city is real receptive to the event, funding for the required contract could not be raised. Maybe someday corporate america will back the sports.

new spot for slalom in SF Bay Area

Adam, yes the sherrif showed up, all things considered he was "just doing his job". The run was great and we got about 3 hours in before he showed up...actually he watched us set up in the morning and then came back 3 hours later......I think the Sherrif has a problem with "street skating" and not slalom. The law does not allow for "skateboarding" on this part of the campus...what the law should state is that you can use your board as long as all four wheels are on the ground (transportation/slalom/longboarding)...one interesting note :you are allowed to "rollerblade"....

Midtown Racing will be at the new training spot this Sunday. For anyone interested it is located on the Stanford University campus right near "Meyer Library". We plan on setting up around 10AM. The course isn't steep but it is loooooong and the surface is excellent! everyone is welcome to join us. To find us: 101 exit University Ave. in Palo Alto. University Ave goes under El Camino and becomes Palm, follow Palm to the end and park. Skate behind the church/quad area and go to the left...you should see Meyer Library. We will be setting up around 10AM.

Bill,
looking for a spot tomorrow sounds like fun. anything skateboardish is fine with me (vans skatepark?). the dump roads might be good for some downhilling too. the only problem I have is that I would need a ride from san francisco to wherever we go and that I need to be back in the city by 2pm. almost too much ask, I know ; )
let me know what's happening

What about somewhere in the east bay. I know that there are some industrial parks that are unused on the weekend, and there are a couple of "dump" roads and similar places in the southern east bay(Fremont, Newark, Milpitas). There is also supposed to be a downhill run out near Gilroy.
Would anyone be interested in trying to find a new spot tomorrow. It would be easier for me to skate on saturdays in general.

Mister Bill- I'm in Santa Cruz, but if ya'll find a place like that, (wide smooth slopes that would allow us to set a SUPER GS, with some real fast speeds and big drifting corners.), please let me know (or post), and i'll be there, with a board in my hand and smile on my face!!

first off, i had a blast at GGP, matching names to faces and watching the amazing slalom. i would reccomend a good spot for slalom would be moraga street at the very end towards the beach, like 42 or 43 ave. this street was just repaved so its SUPER smooth. the only problem is ovoiusly, the street is open to cars. peace david

I'm thinking an office/industrial park somewhere in suberbia. These things have been put up by the hundreds over the past decade and they become ghost towns on the weekends. They often have wide, smooth streets too. Anyone know of any candidates?

Duane, Mitch, and GBJ, thanks for offering your trucks and wheels. I’ll bring my own bearings, risers, hardware and 10mm bearing spacers. If any of the wheels you bring require other sizes of bearing spacer, I’d appreciate if you’d bring them. I’ll give it all back before I leave, of course. Sorry to hear about your fall, Mitch.
