GGP Sunday Slalom

Well gang... It was great to finally get up to the GGP slalom sunday! Nice meeting you all... Clayton, Eric, HC, Jonathan, Gary, Lauren and everyone else. I saw some very fast riding and can see I've got work to do! Now if I can get my tired old body to keep up... 8-)
Afterward my Santa Cruz buddies Matthew and Andrew, and Lauren from Oakland travelled over to Berkeley for an afternoon of carving Tunnel Road. What a cool run that is... I haven't had a skate day like this in 20 years! Got home tired and satisfied around 11:00pm last night...
Matt and I also recon-skated a (new to us) Santa Cruz mountain run which is well over 2 miles long... with brand new buttery asphalt which falls somewhere between the Tunnel Road and Claremont grade. Twisty and shaded through tall redwoods with a couple turns tight enough to put fear into you. It would be fun to host a weekend day of riding there in the near future... Details to follow.
I'm so stoked to be riding again! Thanks everyone from helping bring soul skating back from the grave... -Miko

Gary, check out www.babblers.org which is the site for the Bay Area Boxster club. Lots of good info on drives, technical issues, care, etc etc etc.
Would have emailed this to you but didn't have your address. We're doing a "Detail Day" event tomorrow morning at my house (directions are on the site) at 9:00am in SJ. Krispy Kremes provided :)

Hey Gary H, what kind of Porsche do you own? I've got a Boxster S myself, and we have a VERY active Boxster club here in the Bay Area... if you like to drive the twisties at high speed.
Stage Rd or back of Mt Ham has gotta be my favorite drives.
Still trying to figure out what longboard to buy. What safety gear do you guys recommend?

GGP Sunday 10AM-3PM
Adam, I agree, I think we need an alternative spot(s). I spent 3 hours last Saturday driving the Porsche scouting for a new hill, I had fun driving , but no luck on a new location. Lets all plan on searching for some alternative spots.

david and clayton, if you want to go sliding with the SC guys contact (matt@datadistributing.com)
My suggestion is Park Rd inside presideo (so we don't have to cross the bay bridge) plus i can do video.

will be there at GGP
to the santa cruz guys that are going to slide in berkeley, I busted my wrist recently, so I will only slalom this sunday. There is a nice steep section where we slalom at ggp that we can compare slide techniques. Lauren, if you are reading this, come out to the GGP spot and you can learn to slide and slalom. Note also that in order to slide in Berkeley requires you to do slides in your own lane, so don't go out there until you feel confident in this.

GGP regulars,
We really need to find a better place, guys! The GGP courses are getting old, the surface has always been marginal, and getting into/out of SF is never easy.
Misterbill and I have been threatening to recon some industrial parks in the East Bay for some weekend ghost town butter-asphalt. But so far we've been too busy.
And I keep meaning to recon Merritt College's upper parking lots in the Oakland hills. Anyone else know of good alternate spots?

How was it??
I drove there thru nasty traffic but the dual events, Shakespear in the Park and the Now and Zen concert, had sucked up *every* parking space for miles so I ended up driving back home unfulfilled. :(
